HERE IT IS FAMILY! you picked the reaction! Moody Blues -- Nights In White Satin [[ Official Live Video ]] HD ua-cam.com/video/085EvjkWwBw/v-deo.htmlsi=ld6Uoyi9LF-3-Sas
I think I’ve watched every reaction video there is. I too love to see the faces of the younger people especially, when GB starts to sing. I was lucky enough to have been a teenager when this song came out ( along with a whole lot of other great tunes), but this version is so much better. RIP Gary Brooker. I couldn’t tell if you were liking this until close to the end. 😊
One of those rare moments in your life when you witness something truly special. Lead singer Gary Brooker's voice has matured and mellowed with age - he's 61 when this was performed. The band is as great as ever. The orchestra and choir make this a masterpiece. Those attending the performance witnessed something magical, and we are blessed that it was recorded and can be viewed by all of us!
@ I've BEEN to Denmark. I've been halfway across the country. I don't remember encountering those canals. I was wondering if it was a corner of Tivoli Gardens.
I love this version of a Whiter Shade of Pale. I must have listened to people react to this song at least 30 times this past year. Love watching their faces as they listen.
that list of bands is really really long, hell GnR, Yngwie Malmsteen, Metalica, The Scorpions. Kiss, and Aerosmith just to name a couple that come to mind.
I have been a strict metal head since the the age of 5 when I heard Kiss Alive. This song brought me to tears and I do not know why. Well I do know why, the simple beauty and power. The performance of the singer is so great. His voice has gotten better with age.
R.I.P. Gary Brooker. 💔💔 He passed away a couple of years ago. His voice just got better with time, like fine wine. He was 61 at this concert. This originally came out in 1967. This and Nights In White Satin by The Moody Blues were like 2 bookends of the year. Highly recommend watching Nights In White Satin from their concert in 1997 live at the NEC. Peace 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Procol Harum was the first live concert I ever went to, it would be around 1975 when I was 15 or 16. I was absolutely blown away as you can imagine. I love this version of their classic song and would love to have been there in Denmark to hear them live again. Amazing.
I'm 60 at 15 I drove cross country to Chicago for a concert. I was lucky enough to see about anyone you can name and probably more than once. I feel so lucky to have lived through I believe the most meaningful period of music.
I watched the Concert For George the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see Gary playing keyboard for the whole concert. Hes one in a million. This version of this song will never get old to me.
By this orchestra has a fantastic rendition of the theme from the movie "The Good, the bad and the Ugly" one of the ladies in this videos is also singing in the TGTB&TU.
I love it when a circle arrives at its origin. Late sixties the music of this song was inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's Air on a G string, and a hit song with just the band, no orchestra. How fitting that in this performance, the orchestra plays a Bach-like arrangement with Procol Harum.
I was 15, on holiday in Cornwall, England, a warm summer night, dancing to this unforgettable song under the stars, the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks nearby. It was the Summer of '67, the so-called Summer of Love, the year the Beatles' epoch defining Sergeant Pepper's album was released to the world, around the same time as Procol Harum's (PRO-cuhl HAH-rm) Whiter Shade of Pale, to be followed later in the year by the Moody Blues' Days of Future Passed album featuring Nights in White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon, as well as countless other gems (now classics) of the Love and Peace era. A very special vintage, still making for quality imbibing in 2025...
🇨🇦 This concert in 2006 was an outdoor event by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and their invited guests, the British Rock Band, Procol Harum ! The Orchestra is made up of over 100 musicians and over 70 choir members ! Procol Harum released this track in 1967 (try finding the original video) and the band consists of 2 guitarists, 1 drummer, 1 organist and Garry Brooker (R.I.P.) on the piano ! This song was like an Anthem in its day, and is still loved today ! 🇨🇦
The crazy thing I think is, he sounds better on this version at his age, than he did when he was younger on the original recording. It's kind of fucking crazy.
This was the very first tune I learned on the organ when I was 8. I'm 62 now, the same age as Gary when this was recorded. I've been rockin' on keys, Drums & bass all these years & still play this song. It's so simple but it's not the amount of notes played that make a great melody, it's the choice of notes. What a voice. RIP Gary, you deserve the rest mate.
First single I ever bought, back in 1967 - or possibly second. I can't remember which came first, this or Nights in White Satin from the Moody Blues. Both bought before I even had a record player. I can still remember all the words to sing (well, groan) along with both of them... ♥🎶 Oh, and I still have both albums, but now on CD...
@@kathyg1660 I can only memorise words as lyrics alongside the music. it's an emotions thing. Regular poetry, or other literary quotes, fall into a black hole in my brain never to be found again, as my English Lit O level result will attest.... 😵💫
A Whiter Shade of Pale, MacArthur Park, Nights In White Satin, Love Is Blue and others were part of the soundtrack of my youth in the '60s. They don't get old to me.
Not only could Procol Harum create beautiful music with an orchestra but they could also really rock. Robin Trower used to be their guitar player, who can really tear it up.
It's great to see a music lover discover a classic, and truly appreciate it. This is your first video I have seen, but it won't be the last. 🖖 Thanks BTW. I recommend Elvis Presley singing "American Trilogy" (live) @ the "Aloha From Hawaii" concert.

Try Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells. I think you would appreciate it. Your open mind is a very rare thing these days. Cheers Mate. Best wishes from the Northeast of England.
Seconded. Both songs (Salty Dog and Conquistador) leave you wondering where anyone would get these song concepts from and make them work so well. Their elegant, stately, dramatic prog songs were their calling card...but don't forget how they could go to the other extreme to straightforward lowdown dirty heavy kickass blues rock like Simple Sister, Whisky Train, etc... A joyously bewildering group.
I’ve loved this song since it came out. The 60s was an incubator for all sorts of incredible music. I don’t know which version I like more the original or this one. RIP Gary Booker. Your song is immortal.
Incredible, otherworldly performance from a great band! Gary’s voice aged like fine wine ❤ BTW, this is PROGRESSIVE ROCK, with orchestras etc, like ELO, and the Moody Blues. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Nice reaction! This is such a beautiful song, and it's great that they were still performing it in 2006. I was a single parent for awhile, so I know it can be busy, but it's so rewarding too. It seems like you embrace that. And it goes by so fast. I'm a grandma of 8 now. 🤗

If you want to see another performance with a somewhat smaller choir. Then George Michaels at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert singing Somebody To Love. The surviving members of Queen are the backing band.
“In his book Lennon: The Definitive Biography, Ray Coleman talks about an episode at a party at Brian Epstein’s house, just before the release of the Beatles’ album Sgt. It’s the best song I’ve heard for a while. You play it when you take some acid and … whoooooooo.'”

Could you imagine growing up through the years and having to put up with the music that these bands made us listen to? Imagine wondering not what the next song would be but what the next hit would be. Somehow the artists/bands were able satisfy the musical needs of just about everyone everytime. I hope you feel bad for us. In the meantime my vinyl collection waits.
I have loved this song since I was very young. This version with the complete orchestra is fantastic... but there is another song by them that you must react to... and it is called Conquistador. There is a video on UA-cam of them playing that song with the Edmonton Philharmonic Orchestra... that song kicks you know what.
Pronounced Pro-col Har-em (harem like the group of women kept by a sultan) and the band chose that name after hearing the name of a friend's blue Burmese pedigree cat that was called Procol Harun.......close enough 😁 I totally agree with other recommendations in the comments about diving into more Procol Harum, as well as Moody Blues, ELO, etc. When it comes to music, there is no end to opening new doors. I'm a prog-rock fan, but my ears are open to anything....and yes, even a little heavy metal initiation with a Black Sabbath concert in 1971. As for single parenting? I applaud you Omar👍 .....just make sure your son is always enveloped in love & music ❣ Cheers from Canada
Thanks for helping me out lol, im terrible sometimes at first time reactions 🤣🤣🤣, im not perfect but I love new music. And will do it will listen to my recommendations. And ofcourse brother, my son will always be first and apart of my music. Much love! I appreciate your comment.
Loved your reaction. PLEASE listen to Salty Dog, also at this venue in Denmark. It's stunning and I'm sure you'll love it. RIP Gary Brooker. Thank you ❤
RIP Gary Brooker (died 2022). You can look up the lyrics, but they don't make any sense and never did! This song evokes such feeling, so powerfully, of happier carefree times . The world has turned ugly now.
If you liked the orchestral version of this song, I think you would love to react to the theme from "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" played by the Danish National Orchestra.
That wasn't just an orchestra, it was he Danish National Symphony and the National Chorus. They were the perfect match for Procul Harum (pronunced PRO-cul HAIR-em).
The concert was filmed at the Ledreborg Castle in Denmark w-the Royal Danish Concert Orchestra. There have been some misconceptions surrounding the meaning of the song (unable to keep link for video here for the interview) w-composer/lead singer Gary Brooker & writer Keith Reid. Gary was founder of the band began in '67; he passed away in February of 2022, Keith passed in March of 2023. It is also said that Reid was "going to reveal the true meaning before he died" but he died before he explained anything. Many people believe it was about a drunken one-night stand. Contrary to popular belief, the song is not a direct copy or paraphrase of any music by Bach but was inspired by & does reference Bach's "Sleepers, Wake!" and "Air on the G String!" As per Reid, the line "as the miller told his tale" is definitely not a reference to Chaucer's Miller's Tale. Reid has repeatedly explained he had never read The Canterbury Tales when he wrote A Whiter Shade of Pale. Procol Harum is said to be the name of a friend's cat. The name is a mis-spelling of the Latin phrase Procul Harun (roughly meaning "far beyond these things"), or that it was a corruption of Procellarm, a vast ocean on the Moon. In Roman Times Vestal Virgins were priestesses and acquired their name after Vesta. the goddess of the hearth and home. It was their duty to not only keep the home fires burning but to also remain a virgin for 30 years. AMAZING SONG - AMAZING GARY! COURT CASE: Matthew Fisher, a founding member and the organist of Procol Harum, won a High Court battle over who wrote “A Whiter Shade of Pale.” He played organ on the 1967 recording of the hit, which was long credited to lead singer Gary Brooker and lyricist Keith Reid, and Fisher argued that he wrote the distinctive organ melody. And so on December 20, 2006, Justice William Blackburne ruled that Fisher was entitled to 40 percent of the copyright. Fisher had wanted half (50%) but the court decided that lead singer Gary Brooker’s input was more substantial.
@@TheMetalMixtape Thanks so much. I think background information & history gives a song & a singing artist more depth & meaning, & some understanding as to how did this come about. We just hope that the information is correct, because we know how much misinformation there is out there.

It was beautiful, im jealous of your generation, cheees my friend bill
I have loved this song since I was very young. This version with the complete orchestra is fantastic... but there is another song by them that you must react to... and it is called Conquistador. There is a video on UA-cam of them playing that song with the Edmonton Philharmonic Orchestra... that song kicks you know what.
Loved your comment Hazel , thanks for sharing and your recommendations
Probably one of the best concerts of ALL times… I’ve seen many concerts but this would have beaten them all!
It was amazing ❤
Love this.
I remember when it first came out.
Subscribed 👍
Thank you ann! I appreciate the love!
Great reaction 🙂👍👍 Thanks Ramo .
Thank you Jack, cheers
Right there with the Moody Blues Whiter Shade of Pale.
Thanks for the comment my friend.
@@TheMetalMixtape Check out the live version of Whiter Shade of Pale. You won't be disappointed.
Pronounced Pro-col Har-em (harem like the group of women kept by a sultan) and the band chose that name after hearing the name of a friend's blue Burmese pedigree cat that was called Procol Harun.......close enough 😁
I totally agree with other recommendations in the comments about diving into more Procol Harum, as well as Moody Blues, ELO, etc.
When it comes to music, there is no end to opening new doors. I'm a prog-rock fan, but my ears are open to anything....and yes, even a little heavy metal initiation with a Black Sabbath concert in 1971.
As for single parenting? I applaud you Omar👍 .....just make sure your son is always enveloped in love & music ❣
Cheers from Canada

Great reaction. I hope you’ll be adding this to your list lol
Thank you!!!!
I will!
RIP Gary Brooker (died 2022). You can look up the lyrics, but they don't make any sense and never did! This song evokes such feeling, so powerfully, of happier carefree times . The world has turned ugly now.
Rest in peace to an amazing person.
That, my fried was 1967, possible the best year of music!
You should through some incredible music, im jealous
I'm not crying!

Good to see you getting emotional. Listen to A Salty Dog at the same gig. 😊
🥹, am I going to get emotion watching your recommendations?
You did good 👍
Thanks George! Cheers
Yes
Yes!
If you liked the orchestral version of this song, I think you would love to react to the theme from "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" played by the Danish National Orchestra.
Thanks for the recommendations boro! Cheers my brother! I appreciate you stopping by.
@@TheMetalMixtape The algorithm brought me here, the reaction will keep me coming back by.
That wasn't just an orchestra, it was he Danish National Symphony and the National Chorus. They were the perfect match for Procul Harum (pronunced PRO-cul HAIR-em).
Thank you for educating me, I always love learning about new artists. Cheers my friend.
Pro-col Hair-um. How have you not heard this? Movie to watch - Fandango.
Oldie but goodie
Thanks for the comment buck! It was a great video.
I love that you mix it up. Please check out Kaz Hawkins - One More Fight (lipstick & cocaine)
Will do skip! And I appreciate the comment.
Biggest comment award , love it my friend 🧡
@@TheMetalMixtape Thanks so much. I think background information & history gives a song & a singing artist more depth & meaning, & some understanding as to how did this come about. We just hope that the information is correct, because we know how much misinformation there is out there.
Now react to this when it first came out! Gary sings just !s strong as he did 50 some years ago
Rest in peace Gary, thanks for the support
