E.Satie - Gnossienne 1 for Harp

Erik Satie wrote 6 Gnossiennes - the term probably refers to ancient greek dances, not only for the name but also for the modal harmonies (the total absence of bars in the tempo suggests a more free interpretation)
It may be influenced by Satie esoteric interests for it has a dreamlike, hypnotic mood.
I chose a picture of a foggy Paris, for Satie lived and died in this wonderful city. If you had the possibility to walk through its grey builings under the rain, the ancient streets and live this late 19th century atmosphere you'll find this music fits perfectly to it.
