I mostly enjoyed the first interview -- of the older lady who has spent a lot of time there -- and is more in tune and knowledgeable about the "feel" of people in the community. As a long-term, repeat visitor over many years, this person's perspective is very valuable to me and aligns better with my intentions in coming here this year. I'm looking to establish a "home base" of sorts for longer term stays -- looking to rent a place (bungalow or whatever) for 3-6 months at a time, that I can return to each year. Looking to become more a part of a community than just a tourist passing through. ...the two districts on Samui I'm interested in are Lamai and Maenam. Been to Maenam a couple times, but never really got to know the community as well as I would like. In Lamai, I've never yet been, but have acquaintances there that can help me get oriented and acquainted.
Anny from Australia, thankyou chai for sharing her views, she is amazing aunty thank you so much and god bless you and her for sharing this amazing interview❤
Check out The Viper Room Rock Pub in Lamai Central side road. One of the oldest bars in lamai and the only Rock/Metal bar on the Island, lots of memerobelia.
i spent 6 days on Samui almost 10 Years ago and prefered Lamai as well. Also loved Baan Tai Beach and village or Baan Taling Ngam. Chaweng for me was also to crowded and busy. I think it´s time to visit Samui again after 10 Years to see what has changed
Bedankt!
Lekker man! Ja Lamai is nice 😎 Kata is mijn favoriete op Phuket. Laidback redelijk centraal voor als je naar Old Town of Pathong area wilt. Anyway stay in touch 🏆
Hi Chai Travels, tip: take off the backpack when interviewing. With it, it looks like you are in a hurry or something. Would look more relaxed if you would be without it. Keep it up, loving these interviews!
Yes Thai airway surely have monopoly. WE paid $12,000 ( 2 person) Australian for business class to Koh samui. If we were to fly to Phuket it would have cost $8000
555 first she complains about too many people on Samui now, then her message to the world is "please come to Thailand" Alrighty then . Yes unskilled workers such as taxis that depend on tourists are all hungry unless they sign up to drive for the Bolt , Grab, or InDrive apps. etc... Times are changing and relying on tourists is always an up and down life I would think.

Hang on to your hats folks. New PM wants to expand the airport and build a cruise ship port to make more like Phuket. Start looking for your next location
Traffic is dangerous. The most dangerous drivers are young Thai boys/men...they drive insanly fast and almosy touching shoulders when passing you on their scooters. You have to be 100% concentrated while driving. Any vehicle can cross the road at any time. Westerners are not used to this chaotic traffic without rules. So they end up getting hurt. Advice...stay off the worst roads. Never ever drive while intoxicated. Wear a helmet. Most importantly...100% concentration...anything can come out in front of you...even dogs...

Thanks Gert! Good idea thank you. I’ve tried to share my opinions about the island in the previous vlogs. I can give you a summary: 2 biggest pro’s - close to other islands which are absolutely stunning. - size, it’s a big island but not so big it loses its island vibes. 2 biggest con’s - only half the time we were served by Thai people. We didn’t really feel we were in Thailand. - the airport is owned by an airline company and the prices to fly in and out are very pricey. Thanks again mate, Happy Friday
Rip off taxi drivers and aggressive shop owners. I've seen weapons sold on the street, trashy bungalows, prices, crowded etc. Not a fan. But this was 18 years ago. Maybe it's better now.
I can imagine the guns we’re BBguns. Over all things got a lot better. Though the prices did go up and the taxies… it’s the same pretty much every in SEA 😆
Great work as always Chai. Top interviews throughout and loads of information. Certainly looking the part in that shirt too champ. 🤩
Hahah thanks mate 😎 it’s not so hard on an island with cool people 😁 have a great one 🏆
Top video Chai. I'm really enjoying your channel and love Thailand with all my heart. Keep up the great work!
Thanks :) I’m glad you enjoyed this one 😊
