      Thanks a lot Graham, been a fun and frustrating ride. Who would have even imagined 2020 would turn out like this. Anyway we are alive and maybe a bit more motivated to live life and take some chances.
      With the road widening some units will be affected but after they will be prime places to live. It's so tiring riding down roads full of pot holes and muddy puddles. Anyway the new place is really nice, in a new area to explore.

    Congrats on the 500 subs ! Physical comfort aside , there is something to be said about how one feels emotionally in their surroundings , living in a grey box is not my idea of comfort , having brightness , color , and warmth , can do wonders for ones emotional state , being far away from familiarity is hard enough on ones psyche , so spend a little more on yourself , I believe in the long run it's well worth the investment , hope you are both doing well , take care , Peace ...

      Thanks, if you look at the pictures of the places they look really nice. Unfortunately some of them were awful and that's why you need to see a property before renting it. Luckily we found a really nice place which Claire will do a tour of next week. There are hundreds of places for rent and they are building more, so it takes weeks to find that perfect place. As always a very wise comment MMAM.

      You're absolutely right! Jeremy did all of the apartment hunting while I was at work, so I only saw the one that we will move into next week. I don't think I would have liked any of the others. We really like the place we live at the moment, but we're after a change. There are some negatives about living here - might make a little video about those.

    Great stuff on the 500! I am a big fan any form of separation of shower and dunny. I never really understood the whole wet area thing, especially when a lot of them create mouldy environments. Looking forward to the new place reveal 👍

    Gee, the fourth rural house, found it hard to comprehend how any real estate would show anyone a house with a stench from the fridge. Especially when as you say plenty of places on the market. Looking forward to what you actually picked. Thanks again for the tour, stay safe.

    • @BIGJED75
      @BIGJED75 3 роки тому +1

      The realestate can only show what they have got. It's strange as there are hundreds of empty units and hotel rooms but they would rather have it empty and maybe get a tenant for $200 or reduce it to $100 and rent it out for 3 months and then aee what's happening in the market.
      The forth place was the owners fault for not cleaning the unit before we got there, the smell was eye watering.

      The Royal Gardens area is probably the leafiest and prettiest part of Siem Reap, but not much going on in terms of good local restaurants and supermarkets. Depends what you are after and whether you'll ride a moto.

    Is there a length of time you must rent these apartments, or can you do monthly, Peter

    • @ForRiel
      @ForRiel  3 роки тому

      Many of the landlords used to ask for a 6-month lease as a minimum, but now anything goes, and monthly is not a problem for most places. It does vary, but there are so many options that you can find a place that you like with conditions that suit.

    • @BIGJED75
      @BIGJED75 3 роки тому

      At the moment you could easily get a short contract or sometimes no contract at all. But shorter the contract, less bargaining power you have. Saying that landlords are extremely motivated to get tenants so nothing is off the table.
