What's funny is that technically "Mach #" refers to how fast compared to the speed of sound travels through that specific medium. Sound travels much slower in water, so Mach 64 might not be too far off rofl.

Since knots are a unit of speed knots per second would be a unit of acceleration. So every second moving at 12 knots per second your speed would increase by 6.2 meters/second, so they'd be pulling 0.67Gs of forward acceleration. Not entirely unheard of for a human construction, but no way is a sailing ship doing that.
The PvP is actually entirely opt-in. You can't attack other players unless they're in a specific PvP event. What we're seeing here is actually a problem that they're working to fix, basically there's certain end-game content that causes high level NPC enemies to spawn and chase the player in question... unfortunately they have a habit of getting distracted and going after any newbies nearby as well.
Those weren’t players. You can’t just PvP anyone in the game, there are specific modes in the end game for PvP. In this video they got shot by an NPC, that they should have avoided.
Every time I see the ship heeling hard over my first thought is, "Let out your mainsheet, dangit! You're losing so much speed with that much heel!" ...then I remember that no Ubisoft game is *ever* going to have that level of sail-handling detail.
@cryth2725 Sailwind is the best I've seen. Not a pirate game per se, but it has fairly realistic sailing mechanics from what I saw. Some games have a wind mechanic (Sea of Thieves, for example), but it's usually pretty basic and forgiving

I actually enjoyed "Sid Meier's Pirates!" more than this game when they had the free play weekend a couple of weeks ago. You could plunder towns, fight land battles, hunt for treasure... and that was on the C-64 37 freakin' years ago! You've failed us, Ubisoft. Make 'em walk the plank! >=(

they weren't players. (it's also the zone around your first and main harbor, you'll always get back there for one reason or another) the game is 99% PVE and PVP is opt-in. other players can't even hurt you outside of these PVP "events". kev got owned by NPCs.
Reminder this game was basically just a vacation spot in singapore for the french developers . No one from signapore could get promoted in that office , called it "the french cieling" and thats why they never made the game.till the actual goverment of signapore was on their ass cause they also took out a loan from the goverment , for this fake game almost a decade ago , that was just a office or french employees to vacation till they actually legally had to make a game

That combined with you just sailing into higher level areas, as a general rule, when you start, you keep to "Red Isle" (aka Madagascar), then start exploring the coast of Africa, then finally move over to the East Indies.
fr one of the most enticing parts of this games massive contender, sea of thieves, and one of the key parts of naval combat in black flag is just a 5 second animation
I did. Played 1 hour of Skull and bones on my friends Steam. Bought them Ac4 just to enjoy being a pirate with a good story and a great supporting cast. Still hate the modern day Templar/Abstergo crap tho.
Imma be real, with how long this game has been in development hell, anyone who thought it would be good is morons. I knew this game was gonna be bad when they announced they restarted development for a third time. Name me one game that's suffered as long, if not longer, that came out even decent.

Having fun with some aspects of the game is all well and good. That's the point anyway. Being able to play with friends (regardless of how much interaction) helps keep things fun. But some fun doesnt equal a good game, and it doesnt equal a full experience. The game is what it is, so if its fun for some that's great, but Ubisoft deserves no praise for this. The only support I would give is for the shanties. Sean Dagher and La Nef deserve every bit of praise as true professionals and the original AC shantymen (I dont know who else sings shanties in the game beyond them).

What really hurts. Is that they had a completely good system of ship movement. AC Black flag. If they had've improved that and then worked on the combat to provide functionality for multiship crews it would've been at least worth it.
This game COULD have been good, if they actually made it more like Sea of Thieves with actual off ship things, and real boarding instead of cutscenes. If they also didn't spend 100 years restarting development from the group up just to be the exact same game as well, they could have had this game done in a year and sold it as a fun little 20-30 dollar ship only game with friends.
It's definitely a 30-40 dollars game max. Not a 60-70 dollars game. Have 72 hours playtime currently. It's not a AAAA game or AC Black Flag . Misleading marketing from ubisoft. But It's a fun game for what it is. This game is basically a open world looter shooter live service game like division 2 and others. All islands are safe places that you can interact with npc's and other suff. When it's on discount definitely worth buying but not at current price. It's not that bad as people saying.

Nah I respect it, you're agreeing up front that if you're a toxic person it's on you because the rules are right there plain as day. They probably know not every player is going to follow them perfectly but it's a lot easier to stamp out the problematic players if nobody is putting up with them.

I'm gonna be honest I thought this game was cancelled. It was on my Steam Wish list for Years with no release date in site. So I took it off of my steam wishlist a while back now.
You know, for a company that went bankrupt and crawled back to Steam for our money, you'd think they'd learn to treat us a little better. You know, more worthwhile games at a more affordable price. It looks like they want to go bankrupt again with this overpriced trash.
Fun fact they literally copy and pasted the fighting animation from the 2 wrestlers you see in assassins creed syndicate (idk where you see them) for the 2 drunk-ish pirates on the first island you go on to the right

The fact this is labeled as a AAAA title that was supposed to improve black flag formula but turned into a massive DOWNgrade and costs like 70 - 80 bucks is absolutely criminal.
I recently discovered that game in the Xbox store ("Homefront: The Revolution ''Freedom Fighter' Bundle" with many of the DLC included at $1.99) and began buying copies of it for friends and family members. We've been having a blast with it, but really wish they'd release more DLC for multiplayer missions. =)

Skull and Bones has more in common with Pirate101 by Kingsile (the company who made wizard101) than it does Sea Of Thieves by Rare LTD.

Honestly looking at the gameplay this doesn't seem that bad. I looked at the price tho so I'm not gonna buy it without a serious sale.
Ubisoft just misses the mark ever single time.
I mean they could have made a combination of SoT and Black flag but they decided to make something worse in every aspect.

You know, for a company that went bankrupt and crawled back to Steam for our money, you'd think they'd learn to treat us a little better. You know, more worthwhile games at a more affordable price. It looks like they want to go bankrupt again with this overpriced trash.
Fun fact they literally copy and pasted the fighting animation from the 2 wrestlers you see in assassins creed syndicate (idk where you see them) for the 2 drunk-ish pirates on the first island you go on to the right

The fact this is labeled as a AAAA title that was supposed to improve black flag formula but turned into a massive DOWNgrade and costs like 70 - 80 bucks is absolutely criminal.
It's like sea of theives if sea of theives wasn't a pirate game. Also if it wasn't fun.

I recently discovered that game in the Xbox store ("Homefront: The Revolution ''Freedom Fighter' Bundle" with many of the DLC included at $1.99) and began buying copies of it for friends and family members. We've been having a blast with it, but really wish they'd release more DLC for multiplayer missions. =)
