He has to be humble. He's an absolute pro when it comes to Western cuisine but he's considered a rookie when it comes to Asian cuisine. He got lectured once when he tried to make a fancy Pad Thai.

The secret ingredient in the sauce is a Knorr stock pot.
MrBalzz * Marco Pierre White has entered the chat
It will intensify the flavor...
Better than salt
tbh it's the best way to give Flavor with a Knorr stock.. even in the biggest Hotels and Restaurants they're using it and are not waiting hours for ingridients to boil and use the stock.. it's just a waste of time when you already got it ready in the Super market, same thing applies in Creme Patissiere and other things (saying this as a commis)

All duck parts were fully utilized, no waste, respect the animal.
If you're not vegan it shouldn't, every single bit of meat you consume was something that had to be killed at some point, such is life.
It makes me want to stop eating fish and fowl O_MAK 47 even though the kill was probably more decent than that which happens in the abbotoirs in Ontario, Canada. Eating flesh is certainly perplexing.
Makes you appreciate food more.
Remember food is sustenance at its most basic level dont waste it.

He listens to the people, not mock them, not try to be better than them in his cooking. He just wants to learn from them.

the great escape is such a great series! i hope Gordon continues with this stuff again, you see his eagerness to learn as always, yet in the series you see his own meekness and humbleness towards the work/culture and skill, which really explains how he made it to where he is today.
Man love your vibe traveling all around world. doing what you love.. you inspire me.
Lol, I love that she was teaching Gordon how to sharpen his knives xD
Gordon goes to a 3rd world city, finds out who the best cooks around are and then attempts to find their secrets to bring it to his mainstream restaurants. Got to give him credit he is a sponge for good recipes and wants to know as much as he can to share with everyone that only a certain few will ever really know.
this is how cooking works. You work with other Chefs and incorporate their Skills into your own repertoire and create something new.
A wise chef knows there is always something new to learn and that he/she should strive for greatness in everything they create.
Totally agree and what i meant. He goes to great lengths to find out the best hidden secrets hidden around the globe to highlight them and share his knowledge with everyone, his trip to The farthest norther parts of India have to be my favorite videos where he has learned rare ingredients for curry. They are amazing.
Some people might be pissed but they don't understand how the chef world works. This is how it is. You learn and add to your skill set. What would be the point of going there and taking the time if youre never going to us it.
Alexandre Larocque i’m actually commending him for what he does. Most chefs who gain notoriety usually continue putting new spins on old recipe and ingredients, Gordon has sought out ways to reinvent cuisine and make it new and add new things to boring overplayed dishes. Another reason he has had so much success. But i’ll also say that his media empire is a huge part of his now net worth too.

A worldly man....to immerse himself into any environment and completely own the experience.
If the world could adopt his mentality....we would have world peace
World Peace first requires threats outside of our planet, whether it be colonies rebelling successfully or aliens trying to conquer us as humans were built for war and so would any other animal on Earth be if they had a high enough intelligence to adapt to any threat.
At least until someone forgot the lamb sauce or undercooked meat. If everyone was Gordon that would be a declaration of war.
we would also have verbal boxing matches that would rival that of gods fighting
World peace?? Hahahaha that ideal is flawed what we should do is working for a world that has honesty and integrity in it. If you want world "peace" you will need to silence plenty of humans to pull it off
