I am always sad when Jan's programs come to a close....she is an impeccable performer and is so "at home" on the bench. Jan is also a great "coach". willing to share advice and suggestions. #1 in my book. (I hope you read this Jan!)
Listened (yet again) only with new headphones this time and was amazed by hearing much more of the true sound. Could easily have been one of the larger European organs/cathedrals. This is by far the BEST organ video I've discovered on UA-cam. May we have more, please?
The sound quality of this video is excellent. So many otherwise fine performances on You Tube are marred by terrible audio. I listened to the piece from end to end. Tonally, Casavant organs are not my ideal, but they can rock.
Having been to the Temple many times, the reverb is quite amazing for a building that is not monumental. She and Casavant Organ Freres did a wonderful configuration. It is 103 ranks and a tracker mechanism. The 32's and the '''trumpets en chamade" are on electropneumatic action. Jan Kraybil gets the most out of this wonderful instrument...go there and hear this great organ!
It was actually Jan's professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory who was 2nd Principal Organist of the Community of Christ denomination who "did a wonderful configuration with representatives of the Casavant Organ Freres, Ltd," Dr. John Wesley Obetz. Dr. Obetz played the dedicatory recital. The Temple Organ has 102 ranks.
@@dalerider3124 I also personally knew Professor John Obetz. He was a wonderful musician. He also credited Ms. Kraybill with bringing this instrument into the public notice. He said she has "flash, dash and insight" to take the performances to heights beyond the ordinary.
Jan Kraybill plays with such warmth and life! I take care of a small 1972 56 rank Casavant in Santa Barbara which has a Johannus console attached. The organist then was tired of the slamming noises of the combination in the original console and lack of pistons. What Emma Lu Deimer wants, she gets! ;)
I believe you are rather fond of this Casavant, this Temple and Dr. Jan Kraybill, Matthew Ashby! This movement, in particularly, is one of my all-time favorite Widor works, but also a favorite "Kraybill Recording." Spectacular.

I have new laptop with Windows 7 and expanded audio capability provided by HP (a good equalizer). Again, the sound is incredible, better bass, reverb, and clarity.
@pohsiBRD The acoustics in the building are ,,, well,,, something! After construction corrections needed to be made to minimize the echo. As I recall many sound absorbing boards had to be installed. On the flip side many said the ongoing echo was "the whisper of God).
This organ appearance , to me , look exactly like Casavant's console since 1963 . Look for : St-Pascal - de Kamouraska in Québec ( province ) , Sanctuaire Marie -Reine -des -Coeurs (1963), look for Notre -Dame -des - Sept -Douleurs , Edmundston , NB , Canada ( 1967 ) , look for Orgue de la Maison Symphonique , Montreal , Canada ( 2014) OR go the the Web-Site : Orgues au Quebec .

The acoustics in the building are wonderful. To hear this organ in person is quite an experience!
I came upon this by chance. What a treat! A splendid sound, and a spirited Widor played by an extremely fine player.
I’ve not heard this piece interpreted by anyone nearly as well as Dr Kraybill. Absolutely breathtaking.

I would have never recognized that as a Casavant console! They've changed their style drastically over the years. Organ sounds great though!

great organ.... very good playing.... the other organ sounds different and i like that one a little better.....
