The $20 he gave back and the line attached to it "here is for all the times you been good to me" is valued the most out of all inanimate objects in eye sight.
who in these days will be just and fair enought to return the extra money because its too much for a fair deal? that simple act makes me admire the guy sry for my english
We do here in Ireland if you buys thing off people anything car tractor anything at all most of the the people will give you a lucks penny. The person who got money for the item will give 10 or 20 euro sometimes more as a sign of good luck with your new purchase
I think it's since he found it and it didn't cost him so he gives a little back to keep the balance in nature going Or maybe thats just me I don't know and your english is good 👍
Western Red Cedar is very soft. With natural movement from expansion and contraction the shakes get worn plus, Snow is very abrasive and wears down the wood from sliding off the roof. They do decay but it can be 100 years if conditions are right.
Saw this Episode poor mick wanted a hamburger, fries, and chocolate Sake and When he Finally got it The Fat Waitress Messed up his order! He over payed and over tipped and a ton the End He didn't even get his fries
***** LOL natgeo tries to tell us that he ACCIDENTALLY found it... while they actually planted the thing over there for the show. so yeah, it's man made. Natgeo man made.
paradisegunshot Assuming either way so foolhardily is useless, as this clip is surely intended as educational entertainment. Whether or not it is 100% genuine is of little consequence. The takeaway here is that he got lucky and traded a good find for cash under the circumstances and setting evident.
So it's obviously been cut. But maybe you all missed the speculation made by the narrator that it may have been lost in transit. Is it a Natgeo conspiracy? No. I'm from the Northwest and if I had to guess.. the loggers got sloppy with their staging. Mick found it on a river bank, wedged between a log root, or forked branch. Cedars like rivers, loggers go there to find cedars. What I think happened is that the loggers staged their cuts on a flat, the river rose and carried off some of the smaller cuts. If Mick wants real money he should continue walking down the river looking for more cast offs. I realize this is the age of skepticism and photoshop, but I think all you guys shouting fake really do need to reflect on the possibilities of serendipity... it's a thing.
I like Mick Dodge. I like his generous friend. He's living in s world that made living in the wilderness, for all practical purposes, illegial. When I watch these shows--I think about homelessness, and The Federalist Society. What is the Federalist Society? Answer: Basically a bunch of people who think we have way too many laws. I know guys in prison for fishing without a license. (Yes--it's wrong, but the law shouldn't be black/white. (A pole in a creek started his life of fines.). Another had $12,000 in Loitering fines. He is disabled, but not enough to get a check. He sits behind a coffee shop, and they finally put him in jail. This is not the America I saluted to.
diyconstruction no one is in prison for that unless they didn’t pay the fine, and the money that you pay for the license goes to make sure there are fish for him to catch, stop complaining and pay the small amount of money
To everyone thinking "oh well why does he get a hamburger if he survives of nature" he rarely ever goes back to town for anything and from the show we see him kill and eat birds swine etc.
if you read up he doesnt live in the woods all the time, when it gets cold or to rough he lives with a friend, but for the most part he does live like this.
He was on an old skidster trail from logging at some point in time. Thats a block that just fell off on the way out. It might be a scripted show and I'm not even a fan... But at least know what is fake and what's not before just spouting nonsense.
He’s just a homeless guy with no skills who has to make rocks out of soup, get flour from a farmer (who actually does valuable things and works the land), and barter for food. He’s just a vagabond that people enable.
Worth $40 but only wanted enough for a burger n frys.. Yep that's a selfless guy right there..he probably would of took less then $20 if his friend had smaller bills
Did anyone else notice the guy rolled up the bill right away? He couldn't hold in his excitement to go pick up some blow that he wanted to have that bill ready to go
Anyone else starting to become more obsessed with this way of life as the government grip an Control an experiences of agency's litteraly ruining ur life ? We will have to do it eventually because of the machines. The longer way wait the harder it will be. Yet still I feel like I am ready. When u loose everything I suppose u have nothing to loose anyway. Would be nice findin a woman down with that way of life to but either way. I am so over where I am right now. An I bet whoever reading this Is to.
we need this show back on air
The $20 he gave back and the line attached to it "here is for all the times you been good to me" is valued the most out of all inanimate objects in eye sight.
Wish things were more like this.
He'll regret it when he's broke and starving
"Give me what ever you're comfortable with."
*Gives half back*
*Makes him uncomfortable*
the farmer guy is now in moral debt. and only with kindness will he pay back to that gentle soul.
Cyboar lolll
LOL
power move
He already gave him half the price that block is worth over $100
First thing he does is roll the $20, he's snorting some larvae in the woods.
Michael Illes LOL
That's not nice.
We are all capable of this kind of humble love and compassion Get Back To Nature and find yourselves

Sometimesithinkiseethem I think he died back in 2012
Hes not dead lol.
He won't sh*t right for a week after he eats that lol
Honesty and Appreciation at its best. A dead gesture for the new generations
who in these days will be just and fair enought to return the extra money because its too much for a fair deal? that simple act makes me admire the guy
sry for my english
We do here in Ireland if you buys thing off people anything car tractor anything at all most of the the people will give you a lucks penny. The person who got money for the item will give 10 or 20 euro sometimes more as a sign of good luck with your new purchase
It also helps make sure that he knows he is welcome there. You can't afford to lose a customer when you only have a handful
Its scripted
I think it's since he found it and it didn't cost him so he gives a little back to keep the balance in nature going
Or maybe thats just me I don't know and your english is good 👍
Oooh that explains why I was treated to a nice cappuccino when I got an Irish landlord. Didn't know it was a thing. Lucky penny.
It’s weird how perfectly things worked out
Mick's a good guy.
Men of honor and integrity....
Glad we could all have this in our recommendations
Who else got this recommended in 2019? XD
No i got recommend it in 2030
It's 2021 now
What truly, Great people!
Today a bolt of cedar shingles does go for about $90-100, but an uncut block? I guess at what he charges himself for labour, he got a fair shake.
if this wasnt obviously so up it would be a beautiful thing to see someone living like this
*rolls up money like he's about to do a fat line*
He looks at the shake block and asks “what you got there”? Shouldn’t he know...?
"I'll gladly pay you a fake persona and some toejam tomorrow for a burger today"
In Sweden, we use black tar made of pine tree, on that kind of roofs. It will last for about 50 years if you take care of it.
They changed the shake from the river to a new one when cutting it... lol
I noticed that as well.
A native NYer you would never see this kind of kindness in a deal lol
There both nice fair guys....good to see that
He is too clean!!!
l love watching on a Sunday.
‘They don’t rot, they just wear out from water.’ So bloody rot then, Haha.
Western Red Cedar is very soft. With natural movement from expansion and contraction the shakes get worn plus, Snow is very abrasive and wears down the wood from sliding off the roof. They do decay but it can be 100 years if conditions are right.
What a guy!

so he accidentally finds a perfectly shaped chunk of wood, that mysteriously fits that guy's roof? hmmmmmmm.... INTERESTING NATGEO
It's man made, and it had to be cut to size to fit... how did you miss these things? If there's an issue here, it's not either of these.
***** LOL natgeo tries to tell us that he ACCIDENTALLY found it... while they actually planted the thing over there for the show.
so yeah, it's man made. Natgeo man made.

Our cell phones are killing us while collecting data
Wow... Gr8 video m8
How far did he walk with that???? From the truck???? To house???
Well I learned something today.
Mick is so sick of society he constantly craves:
Hamburgers
Milkshakes
and french fries....
This is a fucking ad for fast food! hahahahah
You know when the camera cut he threw that block in the back of a truck.
Dam I miss this show
Is it just me or most of the people watching this think the guy is gona make a burger or somthing like that
Trade for a burger. Legendary
They don't rott... they wear out from water...🤦♂️😂 same thing mate 🤣
Jake RS Not at all rotting is fungus… wear n tear is not… ignorance is bliss
That is so cool I like free in life good job
Wow look at this conveniently placed block of wood out here in the middle of nowhere. Huh. Must be my lucky day.

Wow!
One day this guy is gonna get big and then he’ll have like ten or twelve hamburgers
This was a great episode when I saw it xD
To everyone thinking "oh well why does he get a hamburger if he survives of nature" he rarely ever goes back to town for anything and from the show we see him kill and eat birds swine etc.
if you read up he doesnt live in the woods all the time, when it gets cold or to rough he lives with a friend, but for the most part he does live like this.
And he gives him back a $20 in the big city they’d take another $40
id love to meet mick dodge.......
I want those gloves
I call BS. You mean to tell me he just found this in the woods. I think you mean he found it placed for him in the woods. I'm so sick of fake tv
shane bradley you got proof ?
He didn't find it in Woods but on river bank.
It's a scripted fictional show, the producers freely admit that
Yeah reality TV is b******* how convenient you found that block right there for your creature comforts you wanted that day
He was on an old skidster trail from logging at some point in time. Thats a block that just fell off on the way out. It might be a scripted show and I'm not even a fan... But at least know what is fake and what's not before just spouting nonsense.
If he's such an upstanding person why didn't he return it to its rightful owner?
May I just say: the guy buying sounds a bit like Kermit the frog
hamburger shake and fries...some people a richer than you will ever be
This is so produced
$40 for material for 15 wooden shingles??? are you kidding me?
I get the impression that Gary was being charitable
Stay out in the woods !
What happened to him? Is he still around?
His clothes are awesome
This commentor called it a shake BOLT...pretty sure its a shake block lol
Both are correct, bolt is just an older term.
Shake-bolt definition - a bolt of timber used in making shakes.
Olympic peninsula? In Washington state?
Cold and wet. Except when it’s hot and humid. Or perfect.
2:02 sounds funny out of context.
You've never had a girl do the job on your barn roof before?
Is that Norm MacDonald under the beard?
nice red new bag
I think I saw this guy in BOTW
Wow gave him 20 back
He’s just a homeless guy with no skills who has to make rocks out of soup, get flour from a farmer (who actually does valuable things and works the land), and barter for food. He’s just a vagabond that people enable.

Legend in his own mind maybe...wearing his fake Minnetonka suede moccasins no less. The jokes on you natgeo.
