Dont pay for water. Tap is exellent!
Yeh, we don't buy water when tap water is completely safe.
Probably one of the best in the world
Yeap, when people ask me what do like the most in Norway, Tap water is the top 5 haha
Agree
Kinda funny when u realise clean tap isn't actually that common
You can save more money by bringing your own bottle because tapwater is drinkable and delicious on Norway. Sincerely a Norwegian
im American and I drink tap water. I think paying for water is usually a waste of money and natural resources.
Oddly many people still detest tap water, even here in Vancouver Canada many people still shun the tap, it makes no sense
@@StylinRed i live in sweden and our tap water is just as good.. but i hate it. tap water may be clean and all but.. ugh. no thanks :)
@@ndaemon1718 lmao my gf is the same way, she claims she can taste chemicals etc I'm just like smh
On the other hand, you can buy water for an expensive taste. Depends on the water source.
Oh and the bottle holder thing on the trashcans, is so that poor people who live of taking bottles back to stores and get money for them, don't have to rummage around in the trash.
Very smart. I am not close to poor, but I pick up bottles and cans all the time to redeem for money. You're welcome.
Not exactly recycling norwegians have this system called Pant but not all nations have this very few actually do.
Robert Linthicum, if you're not poor you could just leave those there and people who actually need money will get more.

@@trollpikken6907 Ummmm.. "pant" is what you get for recycling..
its common for many norwegians to not talk to strangers alot, but when they get into a conversation with someone it usually lasts some time
Benjamin Landa no, it does not last very long. Norwegians prefer short conversations
@@laurentiusforever y'all talking like if you're norwegian you automaitally prefer long/short conversations, everyone is different and it,s about personal prefrence.
@@laurentiusforeveru makes no sense...
@@Dog-jc4zm Kind of.
But there's still certain trends.
@@Luredreier Indeed, but if i'm in a call with my norwegain grandmother she isn't stopping anytime soon.
the reason the "refugees" have enough money for food etc. is that the government funded "NAV" is handing out money and helping to get work for the unemployed. Even native norwegians get this type of support.
Nav does not help finding Job are you tripping or just high
I would say most backpackers who travel to Norway choose to go to the mountains and fjords to experience the beautiful nature that the country has to offer. Camping is a great way to travel in Norway on the cheap.
That is true
FYI for anyone planning on traveling to Oslo and don't want to pay out your ass for a train ticket to or from the airport. Take a NSB train and it is about 2 mins longer and half the price. It is also a lot easier to get your luggage on and off that train.
There is usually also someone at the information desk more than willing to explain which train to take instead of the expensive express one, so dont be afraid to ask!
take the expensive one it's a nicer train, the wifi works and there's usually less people
@@jaspersonnyoner its literally a 20 minute ride, having it 10% nicer for almost double the price is hardly worth it
If you are as late as I am, you take the expensive train. If you are the kind of person who likes to wait 4 h on a flight, take the NSB train and save 15 dollars.
@@rewind9536 the express train is actually only about 5 minutes shorter in reality. So if you're late, you're still going to be late, express train or no.
Haha, us norwegians dont talk to strangers,so when someone actually give us attention, we wont let u go
8:23
Take the local train instead.
It's not much slower and way *way* cheaper.
I hope you come back and spend some more time in Norway later. =)
Regarding the bottleholders.
All places that sells bottles are required by law to also accept them back and pay you a tiny sum for handing back the bottle.
Some people still don't take the bottles back though, so the stand is there so people can leave their bottles there for poor people to take back to a store or something to earn that money.
Simply put: We recycle bottles in the stores here. Most convenience stores pay out a small sum per bottle, as an incentive for people to make the effort to recycle their bottles. I have an apartment in the center of a mid-sized city, and I'm often too lazy to take my empty bottles all the way to the store, so I tend to collect a few bags of them and give them to the Romanian beggars who sit just around the block from where I live. It's win/win :)
+@@DillaryHuff Not quite.
It's not "most places".
If they sell bottles they're required by *law* to accept them back in return for a small sum.
It really isn't optional and it's a national scheme that applies to all bottles from the country.
@@Luredreier Well, a lot of kiosks and smaller stores don't have space for recycling machines, and so they're exempt from that requirement.
Luredreier they’re not that Slow
+@@DillaryHuff Actually, they're not excempted. But they tend to just handle it over the desk and they don't advertise the fact.

The Norwegians you saw, might have been from other countries. Unlike, in the US, we don't categorize all white people as "white people" :P We emphasize nationality a lot more compared to Americans, who seem to focus more on race (from what I can tell). When I grew up, during the early 90s, the terms "black" and "white" weren't even used here. It has since been adopted from English, but I preferred it when we didn't use those terms. Oslo inhabits a lot of Swedes who come here for work. Only a couple of years ago, before the Syrian refugee wave really took off, the largest immigrant group in Oslo consisted of Swedes. There are also quite a lot of Poles and Eastern Europeans here.
DillaryHuff If you emphasize nationality then why did you say people not from Norway are Norwegians?
@@OkeyVision I was referring to tourists who are not from Norway, not Norwegians who are not ethnically Norwegian, if that's what you mean. If that's not what you were referring to, I'm not sure if I understand your question.

I would recommend going to Bjørvika and Aker Brygge that are trendy places these days and the royal palace. There are also many viking museums in Bygdøy and Oslo history museums inside Akershus fortress. The famous Vigeland sculpture park in Frogner and Majorstuen are nice places to visit, and Mathallen is also a cool place if you're interested in local & hipster food. Those places are where usually tourists go.

The water you buy is actually tap water,so buy one bottle and fill it up where you can
S M yes
@S M No, everywhere. Water bottling plants literally get their water from the city tap.
@S M Sure, but samples show that city tap water is just as clean as bottled water in most cities. Of course there are some outliers, like Flint, Michigan.
My name is Taha and I live in Morocco and I am looking for a job in Norway 🇧🇻🙏
The water you buy in Norway isn't tapwater.
Tapwater in Norway is much cleaner than water you buy in stores. :P
The only times you will ever need to buy water in Norway, is if you have been travelling forever, and don't have access to tapwater in the immediate vicinity. xD

The average minimum salary in Norway is of around 170 NOK per hour, or approximately 21 USD. Should Explain why everything is so expensive, haha.
Yeah.
Mind you, there's no official minimum salary pr say.
Instead each industry/sector got their own negotiation and the smallest legal salary is defined by those negotiations as well even for non-union members.
everything expensive even though norway is an oil state. and not part of the EU. norwegians are feeding the oilmoney (once ending ) to an citizen/people‘s trust for the wellbeing in the future
+yves le flaneur
Actually the main reason everything is expensive isn't due to taxes (directly) and money going to the oilfund.
Rather it's because of the taxes on the oil itself.
Basically the norwegian currency is a small one and the oil companies sell their oil in dollars, yet they have to *pay* those taxes as well as their salaries in our local currency.
As a result there's a *huge* demand for our currency whenever the oil prices are high.
And because of the rules of supply and demand that means that our currency is extremely expensive in terms of non-local currency.
Within our economy everything is relatively normal though.
But when you look at the interaction with the outside of our economy...
Well...
Norwegian labour obviously ends up being extremely expensive and so is most things produced and sold here.
It's not *that* bad if you have a local income though.
yes but many people work for around 100 NOK , and ALOT of refugees are being exploited by local businesses so it's really not fair the level it is at now. Many norwegian families depend on the salvation army to survive, so it's not all glittery and beautiful over here, may seem so tho.
+Jamokai
Depends.
The high costs makes having a low local income harder then it should be.
But having a *truly* low local income is actually fairly rarer for natives.
Regarding immigrants and refugees however, yes, you're absolutely right.
And if you somehow manage to fall between two stools...
Most of the time the Norwegian welfare system manages to pick people up and help them manage.
But it doesn't *always* work as it should.
The last three months I've been managing with a income of about 730 USD worth pr month while my income is usually at around 1 200 USD worth give or take perhaps 150 USD worth.
Yes, that's obviously something I need to deal with...
But essentially that's about as bad as you'll get in the Norwegian system if you've ever had a income here and paid taxes (and are therefore elegible for our social security systems)
And chances are you'll be way, way better off.
I'm a born and raised Torontonian in Canada, and when my sister and I visited Oslo, we felt right at home. Prices were pretty similar in comparison from home, the people were generally very helpful, but curt, because they're in a major city, they've got places to go!
I'm the same at home, I"ll help you, but I'm curt and give quick answers because I'm not out to hang around; I'm either on my way to work, or on my way home and I'm not out to play tour guide, lol.
Either way, we LOVED Oslo and can't wait to visit again! I especially want to taste that wonderful Norwegian Cider once again, mmmm.
Also, to address your wonder of where the women are... we found that a LOT of the - for lack of a better word - beggars - which were female, we saw around Oslo's Central Station where the bullet train arrives from the airport, and generally around that downtown area. We never saw any men begging, only women. It was a really jarring realization to us, since here in Toronto, it's mostly men you see on the street.
This was very helpful, can't wait to Visit Norway
The refugees have enough money to live healthy (and to some degrees wealthy) lives because of NAV, which is a system we have in Norway where those who need it get money to be able to live a normal life, and also help to find jobs. That, amongst many other things, is why Norwegians has to pay almost half of their earnings in taxes.
Been in Norway for over a month. Visited Oslo and loved it but found it to be very expensive as well. Great video!
@Gotopost tt I'm not from here so I don't know anything about that. I've seen a couple other beautiful areas but I enjoyed Oslo. Any other suggestions of places to visit are welcome
The rate of employment is very high and its very traditional specially in Oslo that people have a "9 to 5" job. So where all the women at ? Try Saturday night and you'll see how much women this city has

Hi Jermaine. Enjoying your travels in Oslo and appreciate your observation. I have family in Oslo and learned lots about the culture and their rich economy. 1. Norway is one of the richest countries in the world. 2. Tesla actually cost less that's why you see lots of Tesla. Also, when you purchase an electric car, you will get a subsidy. 3. Refugees get housing and $ from the government, yet are taken care of. Hope these details help. 4. Also, two types of train to airport. The flyover is direct which is pricey and the local train is half price. Bon voyage!
Most of the refugees that come to Nordic countries don’t have proper education or skills to get a decent job in those kind of countries. The gap (of skills and knowledge and education) between the native population and the immigrants is huge...
So there is a high unemployment rate.
Backpackers are in Norway in the summertime, and not in other seasons.
The way they painted under the bridge is because the water freezes in the winter
Welcome to Norway, the land full of Nature and COLDNESS T-T :D
Uppermidwest is very Nordic. Minnesota has the most generous welfare. Spending money is an investment so we do our best to help people regain their confidence with helping people to gain skills to get a good job. I was in Norway, Denmark , Sweden, Finland. Denmark was my favorite. Tivoli, lovely park. Clean, lots of bikes, healthy looking , not many overweight people.. Breakfast is much different, few sugar filled cereals, heavy brown bread, fruits, oatmeal, herring, etc. I did buy a Danish pastry, excellent with coffee. Also a street Hot Dog. I’m Nordic so I guess I have a bias.
Minnesota is actually the capital of Norwegians in the US, around 17% of the population. In addition to that comes Swedes, Danes and Finns living in and around, so yes it probably has some Nordic feel to it.
There is a saying in America which is "Minnesota nice" about how people behave in Minnesota, which is said to have a lot in common with the Scandinavian mentality.

One suggestion for saving in Oslo. Buy the Oslo Card at the info desk at the airport or in the city center. Don’t take the express train or Flytoget. NSB, the national trains, are almost as fast and tickers are way cheeper. Jermaine Ellis I was in Bergen and i noticed alot of things were cheaper
Maybe cheaper because Bergen is a seaport and crew possibly get off there to buy things they need. And they don't make a lot of money working on those ships except the officers.
Wayne Samuel Could be maybe. Bergen was absolutely beautiful tho, all the islands and going up to Fløyen. I flew over Oslo but preferred to actually stay in Bergen!
Norway is very much a Summer destination, when I stayed in Oslo late August (probably the same hostel), I had to stay in the big dorm (20 or so beds), because all others were full... I've stayed in Oslo in August and previously in March, I was not as enchanted with the city in early Spring tbh. But there was definitely more room there then.
The reason all refugees have money, although they don't have any job, is because of a system that was made to minimize the amount of people without jobs. The system is called NAV and was actually an acronym for "New labor and welfare management". The acronym, NAV, has in later years become a proper name. The system gives courses on how to search for a job, and norwegian companies can search for new empolyees through this system. It's quite genius if it hadn't been for those who just live off the NAV money, and don't try to get a job. That includes the refugees you met...
You mention, "They may get money from the Norwegian government." Bingo. Norway offers that; it is all in the game, Jermaine.
im from norway i been working for years to get the money from NAV, its not an official job but its a place to be and work, i think i work in "kirkens bymisjon" we were on television the 21st october.. i had chronic depression few years ago and i have adhd that i try to force stop consulting in me building up a lot of stress.. stress make kortisol that makes you store fat.. i also have low testosterone levels which made me have no energy, lose muscle mass and gain fat, i also stopped having any sex drive because of my low testosterone. Newly arrivals of refugees do get government assistance to live and buy food. And it’s funny you mention that they’re all young guys as the media likes to gloss over that fact. Some of them claim to be under 18 while being upwards of 35 years old. To get permanent residency and a lot more help with free apartments and stuff like that, some of them have been trough hard stuff of course. But I feel personally that the people who should get the support are the people fleeing from war. As it is quite a big load on our welfare system and social structures and cohesion with larger amounts.
So yeah it’s a weird issue in Europe right now, but I’m sure you’ve heard about the refugee crisis in America. It was supposed to be about helping Syrian refugees but it turned into an open invitation by the politicians to be the number one altruist. Of taking in people from the 3rd world.

I have to say something about the place you stayed on, because those buildings makes up not only a hostel, but a hotel and a lot of student accommodations. Even though you have to be a student, some people "tricks the system" and live here without being a student -and they can't throw you out in the duration of your contract. The reason the place has a lot of bad recommendations is because of past history, but also because of the location. It's next to a place where beggars can get food handouts, and also Generius (the shopping center in the vid) is a place where a lot of weird people get together.
I live here, so I know a lot of the things going on around here. I've called guards because of people doing narcotics, I've seen needles in the smoking bin, people selling pills right outside... A lot of noise from the kindergarten between the houses... And it always smells like food. Oh and who doesn't like being waked up at 7am from a leaf blower :)
However, depending on what building you live in, it's not too bad. It's pretty modern, it's ok-ish price, though not the cheapest student housing and that cornershop is really handy. You can live here during your student life no problems. Coming from the countryside... I'm going to move closer to nature, there's too much noise here :P
@Louisianimal If you have someone setting needles on your doorstep you would call them as well. And the police usually only tells them to go another place.
@Louisianimal always make life harder for drug addicts. if they cant take teh step to get better, they are nothing but a nuisance and a risk. what you think people on drugs make rational decisions? whats to stop them fro mattacking you when high off their rockers on shit heroin? chewing your face off or something in their belief you are a walking carrot. no i say. prioson or sealed hospital ward is the only place for such people. once they are clean, we can talk. not before.
@Louisianimal no it is a genetical weakness. some people have that affinity for addiction, be it alcohol or drugs and they get stuck near instantly. others lack it and can consume without addiction ever becoming an issue. the psychobabble is not an excuse. just as yo ucant excuse violence by " oh he/she had a bad childhood" lol. rubbish defence!
Yeah that area around Generius and Brugata gets a bit dodgy. I never like getting off at those stops.
@Louisianimal you're thinking of cops like American cops. Norwegian cops aren't like American cops.
If u want to save some cash, u could save about 50% with the local NSB train to and from the airport. it takes the same amount of time for 101 NOK each way. Xpresstrain is about 190 NOK. The local ticket can also be used for a couple hours in the city (bus, tram, metro) after arriving too.
You litarlly walked by my house😂
Hahaha mine too! Hei hei neighbour
Those foreign people that are men hanging around in big groups are very often in criminal networks. Some aren't though, but they make a lot of money for often drugs
The refugees is not the only struggling side. There are many areas here where most the families with foreign background live like Tøyen, Grorruddalen, Holmlia where the rate of families living on welfare, and the amount of ppl living under the EU poverty rate is high. Also crime rate is very high in these areas. And most of these are not refugees, but norwegian born ppl w foreign background
Don't forget the countless drug addicts living on the streets. A lot of these are fully Norwegian.
factss, these guys who visit oslo should venture out a bit more
@Ingen som helst do every single norwegian have the same exact principles and values? i think what you mean is that people should follow the laws of the country, because principles and values is something a bit more subjective
@Ingen som helst "Not showering regularly?" Lmao, what a fucking dimwit. You tried to be so slick by just randomly throwing that one in there. You obviously knew it doesn't have jack to do with any principles and values. Now for the staring part. That's something you guys love to do a lot more than us. If you're a younger immigrant male in this country, and it increases the further away you get from the types of neighbourhoods the OP mentioned, then you're going to have to expect to receive cold stares by almost every other norwegian person in a public setting, in the same exact way that every police officer does right before they randomly decide to stop you and throw snarky remarks. That's just something one has to get used to, but not you, luckily. But, we talk loudly in the subway, so it's justified I guess.
@Ingen som helst It's fine, and I apologize if I jumped the gun too early as well. Also, I just have to mention this. People have to realize that every immigrant don't share the same culture. There are huge differences between the majority of them. So, it's kind of unfair whenever someone groups them all together as if they're the one entity.
Tap water here is very safe and fresh though, so u can always drink tap water.
Did you stay in Anker Hostel?
There's a norwegian joke about immigration: What would've happened if we had none? We would have nobody to hate.
Lichlord Kazam well that’s indeed true (:
If you look at the statistics, most «refugees» are men. And they don’t have to work because we have a wellfare system that covers up for them. This explains your observation✌🏼Norwegians are very PC people and don’t tend to talk honestly about this subject
the boss of the fabric shop I usually go to was standing outside his shop and got in the video XD excellent photobomb
the refugees get hella money from the state (nav), plus nav give them work
Oh you dumb, "they hella money?" And nav gives them jobs? Geezz do u really think its that eazy? They give then just enougf to survive and no they dont give them jobs they send them around and gives them tips on how to get jobs. Im tired of u dumb west side folk always talking without knowing
First part of the vide, it was only old people anad refugees cause
1. School.
2. We kinda have different places for different people, like "there" lives the old people", "there" lives families, there lives etc etc
And some refugees get ALOT of money from something called NAV, it's ran by the state and they basically give out money.
Idk about the no females thingy, female aren't looked down on here.
I think it is because most of the «refugees» that comes to Europe are young men.
So this is the video before your desert trip in Africa.?
Africa videos start tomorrow
@@901cali can't wait to see it. We/many was wondering how did you got to Africa so fast after posting a vlog in Norway just a day before.
In norway we got Nav which is a thing when someone don't have alot of money they can get help recovering. In the Nav system you can get 1,000$ a month
Ok, I dragged myself halfway though this video... First off.. why would you BUY water then you can drink right of the sink.. What kinda backpacker does not do basic research about where the hell he is going.
the graffiti under the bridge was most likely made during winter. if the temperature get low enough and there are low current. it may freeze over, and you can stand on the ice.
You basically had the north european experience. Bunch of eastern men come to scandinavia to leech on that wellfare money. They typically send their young men, usually not women since you know they are muslims for the most part.
8:15 Instead of the Express Train you can also choose the public transport provided by the NSB trains. It's almost half the price: 101 NOK.
However, I see how it's more relieving and safe to have a train that goes directly (and a little faster) to the airport.
It looks like a ghost town in most of the video.
Combination of the parts of town, time of day and time of year - and the fact that it isn't India.
THE KING IS BACK!!!!
That is some of the problem here in Norway, they come here to take advantage on us, and take our money :/ but you can drink form the tap here, just so you know, we got the cleanest water in the world i think ;)
What I noticed is wherever you walked, there were very few cars and very few people. Are there really that few cars and people over there? I know Norway has a very small population but I didn't expect Oslo (the capital) to also have a small population. I thought a large segment of the population would be crowding Oslo.
How did you get from Norway to Africa suddenly
You made me smile. Happy travels. I hope to be able to get to know Norway some day. Greetings from San Diego, CA
A good observation!
You will see a lot of middle aged middle eastern african south american and asian fugees but mostly these are men.
Women are "easily accepted" by the society and it's easier for them to gain employment through the institutional racist web in the norwegian job market.
After all, this is the only country that has a ministry for women (& children), yes in Norway we have a minister or secretary for women (& children) affairs.
Education is free over here but unless your major is health related, construction or law, or if gifted in sports, you will find it almost impossible to gain meaningful employment. That is why alot of meanual jobs (taxi, bus, restaurant) are a reserve of brown and black.
Most black and brown engineers tend to get their education here but seek employment outside the country as no one is willing to employ them over here. That is sad.
Overall it is a peaciful environment to raise your children, clean air, free education, and medical services..probably the best place on earth in terms of civil liberties, you can walk free and drive around and be a human being without being frisked and searched as they do in your country which we find very sad and inhuman. But every nation has its challanges and Norge is not an exception. But we value human life and human dignity and that is reflected by the overall quality of life for all that live in Norway. Many nations have a lot to learn from our model but we also have a lot to learn in accepting some simple facts and address the elephant in the room, that is institutional racism, which in most cases is very hard to prove.
@Me & You, What kind of shit are you shuving up your ass on a regular basis? «Institutinal racism»??? More civil liberties in Norway than in The USA??? I don’t know what you are tripping on, but that seems like some sketchy shit
@@KasperDahlTangen
I am not here to exchange any profanities with you or anybody, so mister Tangen you can spare me your newly acquired yo mtv english skills. You are free to agree or disagree without going vile and mental.
You are of course in denial of the fact that Norway is a society very much guided by the principles of "trynefaktor", it has always been and always will be, (sånn er det bare)
It is very insincere to deny simple historical facts of this country, just before the arrival of the Pakistanis, nordlæninga (ethnic norwegians from the north), tæter (scandinavian romani folk), and samer (sami), bore the brunt of racism now shifted to the (ny landsmen) non western european norwegian citizens. These are just facts. Many of these new landsmen, get free norwegian education, they want to pay back to the society but their CV's never make it past the HR department because the have a foreign sounding name. Many get frustrated and because these are highly skilled labourers, they are very attractive in other parts of the world, you name it, you find many of these highly skilled non ethnic norwegian with highly paid jobs in Brazil, the US, UK, gulf states and east Africa.
Instead of denying, you should be angry at this professional flight.
@Me & You, I am new here in Norway, of course as a refugee. I v got MSc in Computer science and decent experience in the field as well. I believe I can learn everything from you, your insights just made sense, so, I ll be delighted if you recommend any books, terminologies or even websites that I can educate myself more. Thanks
Me & You how can you proove that employers here in Norway discriminate based on names?
try order a planeticket north from oslo you will get a price shock...80+ $ one way from Oslo to Bodø
Another day another vegan
dude, instead of taking the express train, if you take the local train NSB, its 5 minutes slower and costs 100NOK, $10 instead of $22... so for 5 minutes you save 12 bucks
It’s funny how u see Norway and Oslo. I live there and yes there’s a lot of foreign men that doesn’t work because in their culture it’s the woman that have to work. So a lot (not being a racist but just saying facts) of the men doesn’t work and get money from us while the woman work. And it’s starting to get a lot of that here now, specially in Oslo. Oslo is more expensive then other places in Norway so I understand why u think everything was expensive but our tap water is clean so u didn’t have to buy water.
Uhm what??? In what culture do women work for the men?
What??? The women are home cooking and cleaning. The men lounge out and have coffee while complaining about life here, instead of being innovative and creating work for themselves by opening businesses. Like the Koreans do in America.
Refugees here who haven't gotten an warrant to stay live in apartments for free, and gets money for food clothes etc. Not a lot but enough. They also can't work without a warrant to stay. Norway's got one of the best social security networks that takes care of people without a job.
If you are going to norway dont go to Oslo xD
the further he gets away from oslo, the more prejudice the guy would receive
no..
you most likely wouldn't know, but you even meet prejudice in the inner cities of oslo
BeenGo! Actually no, he probably would not meet much prejudice. I know because I am Norwegian who don't live anywhere close to Oslo.
@@Ozzianman he would, there's no doubt about it whatsoever, also i hope you weren't insinuating that you're a true norwegian, because if you were, then obviously you wouldn't meet a lot of prejudism, that sort of goes without saying
Haha, my mom lives right next door to that hostel. I grew up in the area were you walking in.
Jerm always running late 😂
All Day 😂😂😂
Cpt
All Day hey there welcome to my channel
many people think it’s expensive, but for us who live there doesn’t see it expensive because we get paid more money from the norwegian jobs then than what america pays the americans at jobs. so that’s why :) and yes evan if you don’t have jobs the norwegian giver will help you and give you money. that’s what i like about norway :) they help everyone.
Scandinavia is the new Middle East .. Lol
6:10 probably when the river is frozen in the winter maybe?
the water was probably frozen (regarding the art under the bridge)
Oslo is so much more fancy then the prt of norway i live in. probably the fanciest way to get around when you dont have your own car is bus or taxi. and you dont have to wear seatbelts in busses.
