ps. i love that you didn't like that sign and you took it off and re did it. When I first started I would never do that, I was scared to mess it up or not have time and now I know its always better to just fix something! 🥰🥰🥰👏👏
Karolyn, that is a beautiful, stunning work of art. You make it look easy (but I know otherwise). It inspires me to dare to try some of your techniques. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us. Brava!
Love how you cake decorate. I enjoy watching all your videos. With everything you share you make me want to star my own cake business. Once again love love your channel and your personality.
Love this. I really like the marbled fondant and I agree with the changes you made on the sign. Beautiful job! Has that Philly mayor erected that statue of you in the center of town…LOL
Beautiful work. I do butterflies and the key first and let them dry out hours before I can place them on a cake, especially with butterflies, they need to hold their livelihood position. I am taking lots of tips from you. Thank you
As always, I learned something new from your tutorial again 😊 I wanna try that marbling technique now!! The cake looks a-MAH-zing! 🥰 Thank you for always going into detail on how you get the decorations done and for sharing this video!
@@KarolynsKakes Yesterday I looked at you for the first time... and I became obsessed, I almost looked at all of them..😂😂🙈you share many tips… thanks you !!! 👍🏻💯
Do you do the piping gel and water on each fondant cake, I have never seen that method for sticking 🤗? My fondant seems tacky sometimes afte application and I can’t use a smoother. Wondering if I left too cold for too long.
I like water over piping gel just because it thins out the piping gel a little so I get more uniform coverage on the cake. And if your fondant gets too tacky, your room is too warm. So you either have to work faster or crank up the air conditioning!
Thank you for the tutorial. I love it!.. Just want to ask. Does your strips that you are covering not get hard as they have tylos in? Or does it stay soft because of the paint?
I don’t add so much Tylose that it gets rock hard. Just enough to help it hold its shape and not stretch as I’m handling it. For decorations that I want to cut details in to, I’ll add a little more to help it stiffen up a bit more.
Beautiful beautiful cake!! I’ve been binge watching your videos haha I was wondering, is it possible for me to crumb coat a cake tonight and leave in the refrigerator overnight, wrapped in plastic? I’ve seen you leave your cakes out to settle overnight but I will have perishable fillings. Will the cake be dry if I do this? Would love to hear back from you! 😊
Hi Karolyn, question for you… I’ve been tasked with making a birthday cake with a Roblox theme. (Had no idea what that was until I googled it) I’m only covering cake in buttercream. However I made a name plate yesterday (thank you for the video help btw) is cmc the same as Tylose powder.? It’s all I could fine on short notice I’ve layer it over a large roll of paper towels to form the shape of the cake but not making cake till Friday. It’s still bendable but do you think it will dry out to much? I cut out another decoration and it’s been laying flat but it’s still super soft so wondering if the two powders work different.
Tylose, CMC, Gum Tex, it all does the same thing. It depends on how soft your fondant it and how much powder you used. If you want it to stay pliable, you can store it in a ziplock bag until you're ready to put it on the cake!
Sorry, I post my question before I finish the writing 😓 how much marshmallow do you put in the recipe for the fondant for a 8” cake, I just don’t want to make it wrong. Thx for helping 💐
Liked yer vid why not try a traditional Scottish full fruit wedding cake with marzipan and royal icing it take about 18 months to 2 years to mature this is what ye call a proper cake thanks.
I personally feel like Marshmallow Fondant is easier to work with. It isn’t as soft as store bought fondant (when made correctly). And it’s cheaper to make and tastes better!

if you use a firm toothbrush for splattering, you'll get a finer spray
Love this, thank you so much!!
Oh great idea thanks!! I always make such a huge mess when doing the splatter!

@@KarolynsKakes ok thank you
Are the tiers 3 or 2 layers? Very pretty. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Each tier is 2 layers torted into 4 thin layers with 3 thin layers of filling in between the layers.
Question- how long are your cake in frig before you add the fondant?
Usually overnight. But I would say at least 5 hours or so to make sure the icing is completely solid before I start handling it!
Sorry, I post my question before I finish the writing 😓 how much marshmallow do you put in the recipe for the fondant for a 8” cake, I just don’t want to make it wrong. Thx for helping 💐
I do 12-16 oz marshmallows with 2 pounds powdered sugar in my recipe. That 1 batch is more than enough to cover an 8" cake!
Thank you very much.💐

what’s the difference between regular fondant and marshmallow fondant ?
I personally feel like Marshmallow Fondant is easier to work with. It isn’t as soft as store bought fondant (when made correctly). And it’s cheaper to make and tastes better!
love your work but i don’t understand why you sprayed it with black it was much more beautiful i marbled pink
Thank you Joan! The invitation she sent me had black splatter on it and she wanted the cake to look like the invitation. That's why I did it that way!
Were they 3 or 4 layers each?
I bake in 2" high pans and I torte each layer into 2 thinner layers. So it's 4 torted layers in each tier.
Where do you get a 5in cake pan?
I love Fat Daddio's pans! This is the one I have:
