Your right sometimes less is best. The cake has such an elegant look to it. And I love the way you make your bows. And just a side note you look fabulous. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜🎄☃️🎅🤶
Karolyn! Thank you for another GREAT video! I look forward to new videos! You’ve become a part of my normal Sunday night routine! After I put the kids to bed I grab a nice hot cup of tea and watch your newest video 😊
Beautiful Cake! I swear I could watch a video from you every day cause your cakes are amazing and I always learn something new. Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas🌲
Hi Karolyn! I love the way you make your bows. I find that I get the way you teach & now I know why you are so great at it. Your mother, she did a wonderful job! ❤
Love this design. Great cake to get a beginner fondant-er (my new word) to learn skills. BTW - I’ve been using your ABC recipe using a hi ratio shortening from my local bakery. HOWEVER, I used Sweetex for the first time the other day and OMG-what a difference. I will never use anything else. Thank you for all the tips, tricks and techniques you teach. I look forward to your videos every week!
Hi Karolyn, first of all your icing recipe is a game changer for this 12 year baker!! I would like to know if you can share how much tylose you use for each lb/oz of fondant, and depending if you’re going to cover a cake or make gumpaste? I eyeball and have no standard measurements, so your knowledge on this would be helpful.
I eyeball it too! LOL If I'm covering a cake with fondant, I add less than if I have to use it for a decoration that needs to dry hard. To estimate, my recipe for marshmallow fondant makes approx. 2 pounds. I add approx. 1-2 teaspoons of tylose powder to that, which I can cover cakes with. But it won't dry super hard. So if I'm going to make a number topper that has to stand on its own, I will break a piece off (that already has some of the Tylose powder mixed in from before) and add a little more (maybe another 1-2 teaspoons) so it can dry hard. I hope that's not confusing!
Simple but beautiful, I love it! I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and in pain already. Can you suggest something else for the green string other then trying to roll them out so thin? Maybe a different tool? Thanks so mush for helping us all 🥰
Hi Karolyn! Thank you for another great tutorial!! You really have helped me succeed in the endeavor. I have a quick question - I scanned the comments and didn’t see this question. Why did you choose to use icing to attach the bow “flaps” (🤣🤦🏻♀️ I didn’t know what to call them)? Usually you use piping gel - I’ve never seen you use icing.
I feel like it really depends on the weather! Sometimes I feel like icing holds better because it really solidifies once I put it back in the fridge. And since it is cold here right now, I don't have to worry about the icing melting and the flaps sliding down. If it were hot out, I would want to use water and / or piping gel or melted chocolate for a more secure hold.
Hi Karolyn. Fab tutorial. Can I ask where you got the veining board from that you used to imprint the veins on the holly leaves as it’s not listed in your guide for this video on tools etc used. Thanks 😊
I tried to find it and couldn’t. It’s from Wilton but I got it years ago. I’ll have to search more to see if it’s out there! There are tons of leaf veiners though.
Beautiful Christmas cake Karolyn! I wish I could charge what you charged for this cake, but too many people in my area would say I am insane and would just go to Walmart for something. UGH!! Question? Where or what brand of edible printer do you have? I need to invest in one, but on a budget. Thank you always for sharing your talents, skills and Beautiful Cakes with us! 🎂🎉🎉🥰💞💞🎄🎄🎅🤶☃️❄️
I get all of my edible printing supplies from Icing Images. Here's my affiliate link: shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1817175&u=2948238&m=113258&urllink=&afftrack= When you get to the site, hover over EDIBLE PRINTING and click AFFORDABLE EDIBLE PRINTERS. I have the Platinum Entry Level Edible Printer System. It comes with everything you need to get started! If that is out of your budget, I recommend getting a NEVER USED BEFORE Canon printer. (Must be brand new so toxic ink hasn't run through the system.) Canon printers have easy removal of the print head for cleaning. I do recommend that you get quality icing paper sheets. Icing Images has the best ones. If you get the cheaper ones, they tend to crack and break and aren't as sturdy.
Omg that Clay Gun Is Soo Annoying 😂….But Look At Those 💪Cake Decorating Gets You Fit, the Kitchen Is The Gym 😂…. But this is definitely a beautifully designed cake!!
The impromptu holly leaf was genius!
Yes!! Thank you! 🎉
Aced it as usual Karolyn ... such an elegant cake, so simple yet so perfect. Love that hair again! ❤
I love how you have everything down to a science. Makes it enjoyable to watch ❤

OK, your cakes are always beautiful, but can we talk about your hair! Your hair looks so lovely!
You’re so sweet! I hate it straight because it’s so flat lol But I appreciate you!
I’m so glad I found you on here. I might or might not have been binge watching your videos. You make cake decorating look so easy! 😊
Awwww thanks Shel! It gets easier with practice I promise!
I have a question, unrelated to this video, but could I airbrush a whole buttercream cake with a dark color instead of covering it with fondant?
I love the cake n I really enjoyed n learned how to make the ornaments thanks again for all you do.
Omg!! Soooo pretty!! My name is Karen and I turned 40 on Nov 23!! Loved this!!

Fondanter!! 🤣🤣🤣
And I try to tell everyone how wonderful Sweetex is! It sucks that it’s not sold in smaller quantities. It’s that good!
Gorgeous cake. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Thank you, same to you!
This looked easy but I’m not a fondant per person. I would like to learn to do cute simple things like this I’ll try
This is a good design to get introduced to fondant!
Beautiful
That’s exactly what I use the old school parchment cones for! So much cheaper than an icing bag. But sometimes I’m lazy and use the bags 😆
The plastic ones are annoying. I can’t find the pre cut triangles anymore so I just cut them from a big roll.
Thank you I love it
Beautiful Cake .. love it.. Happy Holidays.. love ya 🥰❤️
Same to you! Love ya back!
Beyond cute….
great job
This is perfect
I LOVE this one Karolyn!! Your work and videos are amazing!

Oh no! You can pipe thinned icing instead, you just need a steady hand and no caffeine in your system 🤣
I love this cake, pls karolyn why didn’t you put a few decorations balls at the back ?
Because she said she wanted it exactly like the picture. I wanted to add my own flair to it!

Great job as always...how did you get that beautiful shade of green??
I used leaf green, a little yellow and a TEENY bit of black to darken it up.
What kind of foil do you use to wrap your cake board? Is it just aluminum foil?
Heavy duty aluminum foil. Here’s a video showing how:

Hello sweetie!!
Hello. Love your work! If you do a cartoon cake could you video it for us to watch. Thank you
I actually had someone ask me to make that cartoon cake slice that everyone is going crazy over, so I will film that when I do it!
@@KarolynsKakes thank you

The fondant must be soft! Squeezing that thing is a much better workout than lifting weights 🤣🤣
