    I was a slot mechanic for over 25 years. The reason they would drill into the side of the machine was to stick a rod into it to stop the clock. That's the part that was spinning with the spring attached to it. If you get good at stopping and starting the clock, you can make the reels lock when you want them to. It was something done by professional cheats that would have access to a machine somewhere. You would have to know exactly where to drill, how long the rod should be and what shape, and how to use it properly.

In turn, a true man will accept a sincere apology. I would like to commend you again for going above and beyond. You not only chose to show all of the viewers that you were wrong, but went on to explain the details and particulars as well. I had something similar happen with a local pawn shop. I bought a vintage firearm from a gentleman claiming it was over 150 years old. It looked the part and it had some paperwork. I later found out it was a recreation and was less than a decade old. I returned to the store and respectfully asked for a refund, providing evidence of its origin.
    Pawn shop owner didn't want to help at first, we got loud, and he kicked me out of the store, but called me back the next day, saying he didn't sleep well and wanted to make it right. We shook hands and he told me, "Money got me into this business, but my heart keeps me in it. I'm sorry I had to lose sleep before I realized my mistake."

    • @Azugon
      @Azugon 2 місяці тому

      I'd believe thats just part of the job for a pawn shop owner. They are risking to buy stuff to resell it for a higher price. Those mistakes happen to them too. From your story it sounds like the owner really believed it was a real vintage firearm. Despite him liking what he is doing he is also a kind and honest man.

      Because he called the pawn shop yelling and threatening to sue instead of just speaking to him like a mature adult. Of course he was nicer when speaking in person, but that's probably because he knew that Peter won't tolerate his rudeness and there was no warranty.

    Honesty pays two fold..Its the people who do business with integrity and honesty that gain the most..Your a good man sir and anyone who does business will see this as an example..Curious though..When selling items with potential value do you have a sign that says...buying as is..??..You can't be an expert of everything so the buyer should take the responsibility in certain situations when buying expensive items like this but having a fair business man willing to make things right in the end is always good business practice even when you have safe guards like buying as is in place..regardless though buying as is might have the customers of items such as this to do a little home work themselves before the purchase and this situation could have been avoided altogether..Know what your buying before you buy it..

      Honesty doesn’t win. All big companies operate on deceit and corruption. The honest mom and pop shops go out of business when the Walmart/Costco/Kroger move into town.

    The sounds of that "old" slot machine are like ASMR. But can you imagine being in a casino back in the 1950's, with 100 of them all making that sound at the same time? It must have been like a car factory in there.
