I was a slot mechanic for over 25 years. The reason they would drill into the side of the machine was to stick a rod into it to stop the clock. That's the part that was spinning with the spring attached to it. If you get good at stopping and starting the clock, you can make the reels lock when you want them to. It was something done by professional cheats that would have access to a machine somewhere. You would have to know exactly where to drill, how long the rod should be and what shape, and how to use it properly.
Honest people in business are hard to find and the fact you put this video out shows how honest you are by not hiding the information you just found out while getting this machine serviced/repaired. Honesty pays two fold..Its the people who do business with integrity and honesty that gain the most..Your a good man sir and anyone who does business will see this as an example..Curious though..When selling items with potential value do you have a sign that says...buying as is..??..You can't be an expert of everything so the buyer should take the responsibility in certain situations when buying expensive items like this but having a fair business man willing to make things right in the end is always good business practice even when you have safe guards like buying as is in place..regardless though buying as is might have the customers of items such as this to do a little home work themselves before the purchase and this situation could have been avoided altogether..Know what your buying before you buy it..

Oh I so love this show, really entertaining and you can tell the owner is really honest and genuine, loving the input from the cat and bird too. Shame you weren’t round the corner, would so enjoy visiting and seeing what you have as I’m sure I would buy something 😀
Pete, you are a very honest man! I like the way you handle things!
Dude. absolute respect, you did this man right and owned up to an honest mistake. This is why I love this guy man.
If every businessperson was as honest and thorough as you, I believe all of society would benefit. Love your content, take care!
Love the follow up. Thanks for that. Learning from our mistakes helps us grow.
he did nothing wrong
Honesty doesn’t win. All big companies operate on deceit and corruption. The honest mom and pop shops go out of business when the Walmart/Costco/Kroger move into town.
You're a genuinely good person. Not only did you take it upon yourself to go get it repaired (and cover half the cost) but you were straight up and honest with the buyer when you learned it wasn't authentic. God bless you 🙏
Was this the same day the other customer gave you abuse with the fake Nike's?? WHAT A DAY in the shop.
Nicely handled, Peter. Respect all around.
Very Honorable. Much respect
That's a proper businessman - well done Sir
I just get happy inside when I watch your videos Pete :) If I were to work for anyone, it would be Pete for sure. I'd love work so much.
Your cat is so adorable! You are a great bloke and the parrot is so naughty! Good of you to apologise to the customer. Forgetting the money involved, everybody wins in my book. ❤
you are defiantly a good guy. I respect you for what you did here
straight up good guy never seen a pawn shop so honest lol
I have so much respect for good honest people.
Well done to you. Much respect ❤️
Peter, you handled this entire situation from beginning to end perfectly and professionally. Love that machine too but a bit pricey for me lol ❤ You’re Channel
Chicago people are some of the most honest people I know. Unfortunately the politician's don't represent the populace, and give Chicagoans a bad rap.
Hey Peter you’re a good guy, you took care of your customer I am the same way with my clients I do the best I can, I’m sorry that you had to go through all that and I’m also sorry that the customer had to go through all that that’s a tough one on what’s right or what’s wrong but I think we all know what the right thing to do is👍
This has become my favorite youtube channel ever. Thanks for the enjoyment. From Milwaukee here - I wanna come down and spend some money. :D
You should do a class on customer service. Truly a master at work at dealing with a difficult situation.
Really appreciate your transparency!
Your honesty is envious, you literally didnt have to say anything and noone wouldve been the wiser. Good man pete

You showed your humility with these videos. Your a real one and you deserve all the success Peter. I salute you for that. You didn’t have to tell him nothing, as is. But you were 100% transparent and i respect that more than you could know
I would want to buy this machine in a heartbeat!
Both honest guys doing great business ❤
Very honest Shop Owner. Most people would just hide the fact its a fake.
These moments come at a cost but because your an honest seller its almost like advertising your honesty good job, worth it! I wish all pawn shops operated like this!
Been watching you for a couple of weeks, I like your honesty, the least I can do is subscribe! Thanks for the entertainment!
I like the way u do business strait and honest.
You sir, are a good man. It's nice to see an honest businessman at work. Now more than ever, I've got to go visit your shop and purchase a few things. You are on my bucket list. I may bring you a gift from Oklahoma.
Love the follow up story. We all learned something today. 👍
It’s nice to see you doing the honorable thing and being straight with customer……
It looks a bit bad the situation but if you make it good being honest with customer and taking care of them then at least you have some redemption
Good video. I actually have the same machine I bought at a yard sale 5 years ago for 300. Mine is a nickel slot. Didn't know it wasn't original until now. Good to know it's still worth some money...
I wish your business was located close to me, I for sure would do business with you. You're a good man, Peter.
I have to stop in live just north of Crystal Lake and did not even know you were there. Thanks for your honesty.
The sounds of that "old" slot machine are like ASMR. But can you imagine being in a casino back in the 1950's, with 100 of them all making that sound at the same time? It must have been like a car factory in there.
You're a honest man Peter, great business and you know your stuff.
a honest business man can be hard to find.. this is why we will buy from you and we love ya brother.. a small loss now could save you from a big one later.. like ya said we live and we learn... be well my friend.
Way you handled that has probably earned you a customer for life!
YOU are a very good business person and I'm glad you were able to ascertain its value and date stamp it!
You earned a sub. We all need to support people with integrity.
