@iAm Yup, Fortunately not that many people know how to work on their gear. I always had people turn things on, try things out, before they left the shop.
I stopped using ebay because I sold breakers to a guy. The breakers were 1 day past the arrival date (not sure why). He put in ebay that he didn't receive them on time. So ebay told me to refund him while he still has my breakers. So I'm out the breakers and the money. People are learning how to scam ebay better and ebay just falls for it
I love how you are so genuine & calm with all people whether they are trying to scam you or not! I especially love when Ruby dances to the music! Awesome…..just…awesome!!!
I appreciate you making this. I sell on eBay as well. Run into these situations far more than I ever should. People need to be more aware of how to handle these problems. This is a great step by step on how to handle it. You did it perfectly.
I hate when people are sneaky and return the wrong item. It is so frustrating. I hope this ends well in your favor. In my experience it has not ended well for me they've sided with the buyer.
It use to be that way but the past 5-6 years they did a 180 catching on to these con artists. At least that’s how it’s been in my experience. Sorry you had bad experiences man, puts hard working people out of business all to save a couple dollars, it’s sickening.
It is internet mail fraud, a federal offense. But the buyer can argue he accidently sent the wrong item back. If he has a paper trail of doing this, he should be reported to USPS inspector general.
i see it as mail fraud, it is a lot easier to be honest. most folks are. it's the few dishonest folks that make it hard on everyone. scammers and cheaters suck.

I just started following and watching ! U show a lot of respect to your customers . A lot of people in pawn/ thrift stores take advantage & disrespectful. Props to you Peter !!
I've been selling on ebay since 1998. Ebay will 99 and 44/100th % of the time side with the buyer. I sold a 1995 POTF star wars ship (at-at), brand new, sealed because I bought myself from Toys r us. It contained 2 exlusive figures. The buyer returned the item claiming it was used. Guess what he sent me - a similar used item missing the figures and other parts from 1996. Ebay sided with him, refunded the full amount after taking $25 from my account for the shipping. The person got my new item and probably sold it. Ebay has become a haven for scammers because of their lenient return policy. You can't even leave negative feedback as a seller anymore.
Dude I've been watching you for years, have always loved the videos, but never really comment. But I have to say Pete, that shot of you and Ruby dancing ABSOLUTELY makes my day. Something about it is so wholesome, and in a world of so much negativity during this pandemic, thank you for giving me that chance to smile. Cheers.
It makes me angry that a-holes would try to cheat this honorable man. Thank God he rises above their dishonesty with a cheerful attitude. He restores my faith in humanity. And he is informative and entertaining.
Ebay and their policy of protecting scammers will be their demise if they don't get their act together. I'm a seller too, and I'm not going to be there much longer. The stupid policies against sellers combined with their outrageous fees had gotten WAY out of hand.
I sold a part on ebay, on the last day, the buyer opened a return. In the back of my head I was ready for a scam. They ordered a $217 part. They returned a bar of soap with an Amazon invoice. I recorded everything from me walking to the mailbox, getting the package, and opening the package. I was refunded the price of purchase, but was out the shipping cost of return. Always record everything!
@Craigslist Hunter: I don’t use ebay, but noticed your clip title and was interested in the nature of the scam and how you would handle it. You handled it like a pro! As you stated, it wasn’t a high value transaction, but the purchaser needed to be held accountable. Maybe you will convict their conscience. Wishing you continued success!
ugh customers do this all the time to me on ebay but they can't fool me...also i get the scammers that use threatening coded words "give me a partial refund just because or i can leave u negative feedback" this is actually a violation..tell ebay... they can't do that especially if nothing is wrong with the item and they wont return it
Another trick you can do is mark items with an invisible (UV) pen to know whether or not an item was swapped for a bad one. Also anti-tamper decals are good to prevent parts swapping return scams.
I find these videos so enjoyable and informative with your easy manner, of course your little menagerie enhances them too. Thank you for sharing. 19:12
I absolutely love cats, and that one is wonderful. When I was in high school or just after, my sister brought home a black and white longhair cat, tuxedo cat, she had perfect hair that was completely symmetrical. That cat lived for close to 20 years before one day she never came home. She up and died somewhere. I’ve been trying to find another one that looks the same. Yours has similar mannerisms. Love this channel.
Had a store on ebay and closed it last year because of all the nonsense. Ebay virtually always sides with the buyers, no matter there reasons or proof you have otherwise. Ebay even took money out of my account to give a FULL refund to the buyer even though I had previously addressed the buyers complaint and refunded 50% per the buyers request. I didnt argue, and then ebay refunds the full amount. So now the buyer still has the item and 150% of the purchase price. What a nightmare mess. I was so sick of it that I just quit selling.
In the UK we had an issue with buyers returning high price ceramics saying 'item was broken in post'. On one occasion, after seeing the same seller was returning for the same reason, it became apparent the buyer, was buying a damaged piece (very cheap) and then a perfect piece, he would then return the broken piece to the seller he had purchased the perfect piece from claiming it was broken on arrival. Dealers tend to talk to each other and we caught him by marking the extremities of a piece he purchased, on this occasion, a Beswick horse, marking the ears, tail and feet with an invisible security marker. Sure enough he returned the piece saying it arrived broken, however none of the marks we had put on the piece we sent were present. The person was reported to the police for suspected fraud, as well as eBay.
I've been selling and buying on ebay for @ 20 years just a small seller and have had a handful of cases. So far never lost a case but I try to package carefully and make sure item is as described. I can't believe someone bothered to return a $10 item and especially when the reason was they changed their mind. I block someone like that so they never can buy from me again. Love how you interact with the cat and bird, really makes your vlog more fun to watch. Take care.
"I've always been told to film opening the package because a picture isn't enough proof." I mean, it really isn't if you think about it. They have no way of knowing the seller isnt the one actually scamming and just taking a photo of a different item to avoid the refund. I mean even a video isn't proof unless you literally film the mailman handing it to you and opening it on the spot. You could have just repackaged the wrong item and opened it on camera. Unfortunately, as much shit as ebay gets its not easy to get to irrefutable truth, both parties could be manufacturing evidence. I have a feeling the users rating is definitely considered in who ebay decides to side with.
Very unlikely eBay gave him his money back, they find in the buyers favor 99% of the time and only take action if a buyer has done this many times before.
Hey Pete! Thanks for walking through that return. Didn’t know how it works so now I’m not so hesitant to use EBAY. Love how great your feather/fur buddies get along with each other. Honey and Ruby are so beautiful and it’s clear they were raised with love. You are such a special guy, Pete!

As times change, the biggest difference is the incredible erosion of social trust. I think of examples just in my lifetime, such as how we pay for gasoline. Not that long ago you pulled up to the pump and the cashier inside would switch it on. You filled up your tank and then you'd go inside and pay. (With a personal check if you wanted.) This is just a one small example.
Morning from scotland again pete I cant rem the name but its cuttle? Its smooth and the parrot slides its beak along it and it sharpens his beak naturally. Have a wonderful day its 11.59am here Love ur videos 😆❤❤❤❤❤
When you escalated that return case to eBay's customer service you most likely lost the case. Everytime I escalated a scammer return eBay sides with the scammer telling me they can't be sure what the buyer returned was the same item I sent. I had a tablet returned with a broken screen after the buyer had it a month the one they returned has a different serial number and eBay sides with the scammer. Since I escalated the case I had no recourse.
I keep seeing people say that. However my experience over the years has been different. Ebay has always came through whenever a buyer tried to scam me. Even had a couple big money items that woulda ruined me if they succeed in the scam. Thank god Ebay and Paypal stood up for me!

i hate buyers like that....they think they're so smart and can always get their money back. Wait until you you come up against a buyer that has a "good friend" working in the post office...customer (buyer) places "hold" item at post office....probably after the mail is already on local route for delivery that morning....so now the tracked item looks like it's being held at post office...and never been delivered....and when the seller checks for the item's location at the post office...naturally the item is missing and not at the post office....meanwhile the buyer actually has the item in their hands from their friend that doesn't scan it and files an "open case" against the seller for undelivered item worth $1,800. Buyer then relaxes and sits nice and smug with their $1,800. item waiting for their $1,800. refund...meanwhile seller (me) is working my azz off to locate lost item and I then have to write up a lost item case against the post office for the $1,800. item. Customer (buyer) places "hold item" and his friend delivering mail does the buyer a favor by not scanning it at delivery....this scenario will cause the seller intense grief. It's rare, not many buyers know this....but if a buyer wants to scam....it's the perfect way!!! I should let you know the conclusion: as soon as the buyer knew i was filing a lost item with the U.S.P.S. for the $1,800. and was not going to make a quick refund to him ( it was going to be a long-drawn out process) ....incredibly, he instantly found he already had and put the item in his collection and didn't realize it cause it was showing "undelivered" on his E-Bay postal tracking so he filed a case....nice!!! He was very apologetic...just an incredible mistake on his part.

@@kenmaylin4744 , go to selling on your eBay, on the right side of your Selling page scroll down 2/3 of the way to "shortcuts", 3rd option is 'Block Bidders". Click on that and you will see 'Block bidder/Buyer". Click on "add Buyer to list". You will then be able to add any Buyer to that list & they cannot buy from you. Very useful when you run across Buyers who are or you know will be a PITA if you sell to them.
You used to be able to lookup what a buyer has bid on or bought in the last 30 days. You could also see the kind of feedback they have left for other sellers and buyers used to get negative feedback. This was helpful for sellers to know who they're dealing with. Besides the blocked bidders list, you set your buyer requirements to block buyers with 2 or more unpaid item strikes in the past 12 months. This block was helpful on 5 or 6 of my items as several nonpayer were blocked. I wish sellers would use this block.

I used to own a scarlet macaw named Poppy and a blue macaw named Blue. They were incredible. They used to eat out of my Irish Wolfhounds bowl with him. I donated them to a zoo for their breeding program. I definitely can tell your macaw is healthy and happy. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nerys my way to overcome this issue is listing the item slightly more expensive (just enough to profit and cover shipping), so that if anything were to happen the costs would be factored into that transaction. I try to offer free shipping with all my products even if they’re listed slightly higher, because most buyers will often completely skip or filter out a 5$ item with 10$ shipping but are more willing to buy a 15$ item with free 1-2 day shipping. You can also spread your losses over multiple items so you’ll calculate losses into your pricing. Buyers aren’t aware of all the fees we have to go through so they couldn’t care less, but if you make it so you profit regardless of the outcome of the transaction, it’ll hurt less. I also factor in whatever shipping insurance will cost, I noticed that when buyers are informed that the package is insured they’re less likely to file a fraudulent report because USPS and UPS actually show up to their doors and investigate. Try to find any way to make up for losses, when I started off as a new seller getting hit with 15$ out of pocket fee to ship and sell a 30$ item sucked, but over time I learned to not let it get to me because the cost of business was factored into everything I sold. Right down to the cost of ink to print the label and gas to take it to the post office.
What an idiot that guy is, changed his mind over a freking $9 item that probably cost that much in time and postage to return it! I NEVER put free shipping on Ebay when I was selling, and because I was shipping very heavy usually crated items I would get idiots asking "can you combine shipping?" REALLY?? how do I "combine" shipping on a 75 pound CRATE that is sized for one sculpture? The ones who protested the shipping costs or wanted a discount NEVER bought. After a while I just started to include shipping in the price, I figured the cost to ship it to zone 8- the furthest one, and rolled that into prices, so a $199 item that shipping in a 70# wood crate was $275 to your door instead of $199 plus $75 shipping, the shot down the ones who went on about the shipping cost, sorry but Fed Ex charged a pickup fee per package, a residential pickup surcharge, a fuel surcharge, a $12 handling charge for any shipment (wood crates) not in cardboard, there's a higher rate at 71# v/s below 70#, transportation charge, residential delivery surcharge, taxes, and then even charging $75 it still didn't quite cover the costs.
@@goldcrownkingmod Yeah! Why not just jack up the cost for everyone, even if they're innocent? That way you can make THEM pay for the losses you incur from scumbags. Charge for everything! @@dougs7367 why? what does this do exactly? im all for making sure the BUYER knows you have the serial # written down (as a preventative measure from any trickery), but as far as EBAY goes I have yet to hear any case of eBay actually looking at a video or taking any of this evidence into account. the video would only possibly be useful in a lawsuit

I’m going to kick back in Montana smoke a cigar and enjoy life. God bless you keep up the good work!
@iAm Yup, Fortunately not that many people know how to work on their gear. I always had people turn things on, try things out, before they left the shop.
I wish I was in Montana right now. Hope you enjoyed that cigar sir. God bless from NY.
I stopped using ebay because I sold breakers to a guy. The breakers were 1 day past the arrival date (not sure why). He put in ebay that he didn't receive them on time. So ebay told me to refund him while he still has my breakers. So I'm out the breakers and the money. People are learning how to scam ebay better and ebay just falls for it
Had the same, but ebay payed the buyer out of their pocket.
Amazon pay out the buyer I think. Maybe it's better to do it there
I love how he interacts with his pets. The bird is gorgeous and his cat is so pretty.
Totally agree!
I love how Ruby turned around to dance with you. :)
Great video... showing how to stop a summer on eBay.
Pete showed a few moves when testing those BoseCubes….
Your love for Honey and Ruby just shines through in every video! I love watching you three!!!! The Ruby dance was my fav!
I hate when people are sneaky and return the wrong item. It is so frustrating. I hope this ends well in your favor. In my experience it has not ended well for me they've sided with the buyer.
I stopped selling on ebay because of too many returns---ebay always sided with buyers. Tired of giving stuff away and the cost of postage.
How many is too many?
@East ßeirut Interesting, I've been selling on eBay since 2008 and I could count the number of dishonest/scamming buyers I've dealt with on one hand.
Bernie’s Bootlegs I’ve had a lot over the years, depends on what their buying and how easy it is to scam I guess. You’re lucky lol
It use to be that way but the past 5-6 years they did a 180 catching on to these con artists. At least that’s how it’s been in my experience. Sorry you had bad experiences man, puts hard working people out of business all to save a couple dollars, it’s sickening.
@East ßeirut yeah, I don't really sell high value items (like more than $1k) online for this reason.
Please let the buyers also know that this could be mail fraud.
My favorite part of this was you dancing with Ruby! She is so sweet and you can tell she adores you! ❤️ Her dancing is pure bliss.
You have to admire this man for loving his animals ❤️
Thank God for honest sellers like you, these scammers use your time and money to live.every 50$ is salary you worked hard for.
Genuinely kind man who wades thru all kinds of crappy people and stays positive and nice. We are visiting Chicago area soon from Michigan and will def be stopping in!
I just started following and watching ! U show a lot of respect to your customers . A lot of people in pawn/ thrift stores take advantage & disrespectful. Props to you Peter !!
Welcome and Thank you for watching. Cheers !!
I love when Ruby yells! It makes my day! That girl has something to SAY!! It’s amazing!! Be well, Pete and Crew!!! 🤣🥰🥰😆😂
You can tell hes a nice guy by the way he treats his animals soooo cute
That’s parrot #17. The others were plucked and eaten over pas Thanksgivings and Christmases. 😂
I love animals, and to see them get that kind of affection just warms the soul!
Ebay and their policy of protecting scammers will be their demise if they don't get their act together. I'm a seller too, and I'm not going to be there much longer. The stupid policies against sellers combined with their outrageous fees had gotten WAY out of hand.
Good to know wish I could use eBay they banned me 18 years ago

I sold a part on ebay, on the last day, the buyer opened a return. In the back of my head I was ready for a scam. They ordered a $217 part. They returned a bar of soap with an Amazon invoice. I recorded everything from me walking to the mailbox, getting the package, and opening the package. I was refunded the price of purchase, but was out the shipping cost of return. Always record everything!
Thanks for being a dad to your animals. I mean, a real dad. And, even though you're a Hawks fan, you like hockey and that's cool by me!
So precious that you love Honey and Ruby so much ! And Ruby dancing just made my day happier ❤️
Ruby The Dancing Queen, yeahh💃
I just love to see the Kids playing together. Carry on Stay Safe
I find these videos so enjoyable and informative with your easy manner, of course your little menagerie enhances them too. Thank you for sharing.

I just can’t get enough of Ruby dancing!! It’s really the funniest thing ever.

Add to that the negative feedback they slap on! Not sure how much more abuse a person can take.
Thank you for showing how to start the process for the wrong thing returned!
Take care.
Please do a follow-up on what happened with this return. I've always been told to film opening the package because a picture isn't enough proof.
I'm also curious to know what happens. Wonder if the customer will admit returning the wrong item...
You dancing with ruby was priceless
Ruby's like "it's about to get 50 Shades of African Grey up in here Kitty Cat...turn up that R&B"
Good deal Pete! Glad you let Ebay know about that scammer -- I definitely put them on my blocked buyer list!
Hey Pete! Thanks for walking through that return. Didn’t know how it works so now I’m not so hesitant to use EBAY. Love how great your feather/fur buddies get along with each other. Honey and Ruby are so beautiful and it’s clear they were raised with love. You are such a special guy, Pete!
Its amazing what people try to get away with when they scam
I have never seen anyone love and tolerate animals like I do.. until NOW! ;)
Regardless of how much money is involved, fraud is fraud and all honest traders like us are the ones who used to foot the bill, the tables are turning and this is no longer being tollerated.
What happened to honour, probably went the same way as respect.
Just came across this vid - noticed that the software that was “returned” even had bogus license key printed up on interior
Morning from scotland again pete

Maybe an idea peter??
Up to you!!!
Have a wonderful day its 11.59am here
Love ur videos 😆❤❤❤❤❤
This is another example of why I stopped selling on eBay. People are straight evil $&?!
Bill Stoner wow that’s is horrible !!! I hate “ the customer is always right” policies
I keep seeing people say that. However my experience over the years has been different. Ebay has always came through whenever a buyer tried to scam me. Even had a couple big money items that woulda ruined me if they succeed in the scam. Thank god Ebay and Paypal stood up for me!
@@chekoz77 I sold 2 ATV side panels in the OEM packaging for 500$. Buyer started a claim and said "He put used panels in the original bags, I want a refund". When I, as the seller read that, my heart sank to my stomach. I thought to myself that I had saved them for 15 years and this is how it's gonna end up??!! Surprisingly Ebay refunded me the selling price, but they also refunded the buyer!! So he got 2 brand new RARE items for free. There’s losers out there that do the switch a roo often. It adds up. That’s their business. If they do 20 switch a Roos a month and out of those they get a refund for 2 of them they came up. They turn around and sell the item and profit. A lot of human garbage out there.
Cats love boxes but they have to discover them themselves. Putting a cat into a box is like putting one in a bath of water 😆

@@Bank-E Ah, alright then.

@@Bank-E hmm, I believe you when you say you watch yourself "mastrubate". To be sarcastically perceived as "professor" has so much venom in it. You hiding in the bushes rattling your tail? cause your trying to stay warm? to catch prey? or to hide from a predator? You don't have to be a snake. Just sayin.
i hate buyers like that....they think they're so smart and can always get their money back.
I thought watch something different than my usual animal videos.....now I am watching a cat and a bird-I love it!!!!!Subscribed

@@raenman64 how do you block buyers?
@@kenmaylin4744 , go to selling on your eBay, on the right side of your Selling page scroll down 2/3 of the way to "shortcuts", 3rd option is 'Block Bidders". Click on that and you will see 'Block bidder/Buyer". Click on "add Buyer to list". You will then be able to add any Buyer to that list & they cannot buy from you. Very useful when you run across Buyers who are or you know will be a PITA if you sell to them.
@@raenman64 Yes Sir !.. only been selling about 3 months and got a couple of them for the list already.
Seems it's a good idea to video *_every single_* return as you're opening them, no dispute with that evidence, no way for the buyer to say they did indeed send the right item. Good job.
BTW ... pronunciation tip: Haverhill is pronounced "Hay-vrill" _(yeah, we say stuff weird in New England ...ha!)_

"Changed my mind" would result in a refund MINUS my cost to ship it the first time.
Pad the cost wherever you can... charge them for everything you can think of... even for the toilet paper you use when taking a shit while on the job! You're a straight-up kind of guy... Just the type everyone enjoys doing business with.

( when we going fishing? )
It has become necessary to take video of opening return packages.
Why lol you think ebay is gonna look at that?
It doesn't really change the outcome. Ebay has no way to know if you already opened it and resealed it
eBay won't give one shit about any videos or photos of a returned item
You need to take a full detailed video of the item inside and out and of you packing and shipping it, also put hidden marks on the item that cannot be easily duplicated and photograph/video them before shipping.
