They didn't "develop" a brain. They grew it with stem cells. Putting some cells in a dish and allowing them to grow by themselves is nothing compared to developing a microprocessor from scratch.
And that's why China will win the AI race. Ethical concerns are not an issue.

@@peterbruck3845 for example, it could pave the way for more advanced Ais (increasing its overall potential; as it has both bio and mechanical properties). It can also provide excellent research material into 'mind uploading'- which ultimately would give humans a means of cheating death. It could also provide insight into better brain surgeries and prosthetics for patients who have missing parts of their brain. It could also give humans greater clarity on the state of consciousness, where it begins, as well as other properties pertaining to consciousness, i.e. in short , as we learn via research about the mind, consciousness, etc... We teach our selves about what it is that makes us human. The list literally goes on. The gains are huge. It would be shame to miss out on all of that just because some people are scared of the potential [negative?] outcomes.

@TURE1215 You the one misinformed according to the report, the artificial brain has been grown in-vitro using stem cell technology, allowing scientists to create a brain-like organ out of simplified versions of brain tissue that have a similar function and structure to the brain. Obviously,they're facing issues and challenges concerning feedings for the brain and its maturity. So in some ways,it's not all chips.

Lab grown... Where did those neurons come from? Are they from one of the scientists or are they grown from stem cells?
If this is truly human tissue, then it could be conscious and that will show if and when it develops its own personality as it continues to learn from the world.
A human trying to turn it off would be considered murder.
This is unethical for various reasons, but I still support it 😅
They want to know if they can transplant your entire nervous system into a robot body designed to keep that nervous system alive, will it still be YOU?
This would also provide evidence of human consciousness residing in the nervous system and effectively, you could live for as long as you can replace the systems in that robot body. 😮
