I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.

The auto replaced the horse. Between 1915 and 2006 the horse and mule population declined 63%. No need for horses. If we're the new horses then what happens?
The US has 400,000,000 people and no need for 63% of the population.
That means the disposal of 252,000,000 people or at the very best being dictated to how many children can be born. No doubt economics will drastically reduce human population.

What people don't realize is robots will be networked together. When one robot learns something new, every other robot will automatically learn that task. So the more robots there are the quicker they will learn because they're all connected

@@marcusrosales3344 I mean, computers learn exponentially and they only tell us past data (like 10-20 years delayed) so who really knows. I personally take the theory a bit further, and think they’re using robots to mimic human bodies so they can test our cells and how to manipulate us directly, but most people can’t fathom that. your right and these are machines built to purposed. which is what most automation is and will wind up being, why build a complex and un-demonstrated humanoid robot when you can build purpose built machines. right now there isnt a single "humanoid" robot actually doing labor, let alone autonomously.. we see lots of demonstrations which in most cases are impressive, but nothing beyond that yet. personally i think the "tech" mostly in terms of ai has alot more kinks to work out before it starting taking jobs where you cant build a machine for it..

Problem with this video is u assume that the cost in labor reduction savings will be passed down to the consumer and bot just given to company ceos as bonuses.
Supply and demand.. unless we make a drastic change from capitalism.
I think that the cost savings will have to get passed down - but that doesn't mean CEOs won't still profit insanely. Remember: reduced production costs and higher consistent quality means there will be lots more competition - thus driving prices down due to easy, cheap market availability of most products. Once a stable base price settles, it'll then be a game of brand recognition and loyalty. It's the CEOs of the most frequented brands that will become the wealthiest.
What consumers?

We need leadership that can see the future and adapt to it.

It is matter of scale. Humanoid Robots or Androids already being developed now. Deployed by next year then scale manufacturing in 3 to 5 years. But it won’t happen overnight but it will prove quicker then people ( general populace) think much like autonomous full self drive BEVs or other vehicles.

I'm not entirely sure when we will solve FSD. But, what I am certain is we will solve robotics assisting humans in a large quanity sooner than most of us are expecting.
Tesla is launching robotaxis in August 2024. they will be restrained by electricity supply so will be limited In use at the outset. but Tesla, at least, is increasing the supply of battery storage And charging stations really quickly and robotaxis will replace anything between 50 and 90% of private cars so perhaps the demand for electricity infrastructure will be less.
@@robertmason9265 Robotaxis will not happen in our lifetime. FSD is just another Elon Musk over promise and under deliver grift. To truly have FSD that is actually safe and viable the entire infrastructure of our roads, highways and streets etc will need to be totally revamped.
@@robertmason9265 it might after a while be more economical to just not even own a car and just only call up a robotaxi if the price of it comes down enough. Also if it's using AI well then and will offer slightly lower fares if you're willing to share rides with other people in which case that probably will be the case, well then it'll be far less butt plug traffic out there and it's going to be a lot easier to get around and then plus you know when you factor in the cost of buying a car leasing a car and buying insurance and of course paying for the energy whether gasoline or electricity, well then if it's reasonably priced to get a robotaxi anytime you want, a lot of people will just simply be glad to have the extra income by not having to service all those other expenses having to do with owning an automobile. One of the best things about it is that maybe at least half of the idiots out there on the road will no longer be driving.

I for one am looking forward to what society is going to look like and become as soon as the labor force gets fully automated; I actually WANT to see the day when the concept of work is no longer something we need to do for our own survival and be seen as more of something that we could feel like doing if we ever get bored!! It means that with over multiple millennia of hard labor, spearheaded by our ancestors, we have finally done it, we will have finally soon reached a point of abundance where the only thing we have to worry about is maintaining our own happiness, doing everything we've always wanted, stress free: Spending more time with our loved ones, exploring favorite hobbies/ discovering new ones, traveling the world, socializing better, etc!!
So long as our leaders implement some kind of "Universal basic income", a set and fixed amount of cash allowance that each and every single person would receive once a month thats just enough to cover food, transportation, and other basic necessities, i cant imagine how life wouldn't get better; and if a person wanted to extend some extra cash flow to themselves, then they can choose to work for it.
Just because you can build it doesn’t mean it’s a great idea.

There is art in imperfections. When something is handmade it's the imperfections that we like. My dishes are imperfect. They are so much more interesting than something banged out by the thousands with every plate and cup identical to the next one. Don't get me wrong, some things I do want to be identical. Car parts for instance. I want a perfect fit every single time.

The problem with that thinking, as is the case with all “robots vs humans” issues, is that most people don’t think about the next step. Sure, hand made is better than factory made, however, at some point robot AI will be able to include imperfections and elements that make the products just the same as hand made. We’ll start with perfect then ask for imperfections and before we know it we’ll have a combination of perfection and imperfection just as we do today.

Watching the video of Jensen Huang proudly talking about the latest H200 GPU, I am reminded of the chief engineer in the Terminator movie who ultimately self-destructs along with his crucial invention. Personally, I oppose technological inventions such as machine learning, deep learning, and neural networks that endow robots with self-evolving capabilities, believing that technology should stop at the level of high automation. However, these views no longer matter; this is an unstoppable historical tide that no individual, country, or organization can halt, driven by the fear of lagging behind and the pursuit of profit. When it causes widespread unemployment among blue-collar, white-collar, and even gold-collar workers, social issues will begin to arise. And when, in N years, it further threatens human survival, perhaps people will start to regret what they have done today, but it will be too late. Given the current pace of technological progress, where knowledge doubles every 20 years and is accelerating, mature AI robots should emerge within 50 years anyway. That means humanity may only have 50 to 100 years left at most. The idea that robots will do the work while humans can relax and enjoy life will surely be ruthlessly disproven by reality. It is an unchanging rule of the universe that a species without value will eventually become extinct.
When can I pre order my robot!! Can t wait.

What will happen is highly skilled workers will become better paid from increased productivity, but the bar to join this elite group will be higher than it is today.
This is going on now but in 5-10 years, robots with advanced AI will always perform better than humans even if humans have AI by their side.
Uh, that's not how that works, and hasn't for at least 40 years. Where have you been? Workers have NOT been rewarded for higher productivity, and that problem will be much worse when millions are searching for jobs and it will become an "employers market".
And UBI? The chances that the libertarian and neoliberal economic types that dominate AI tech are going to distribute, or pay taxes for the government to distribute a UBI sufficient to pay for housing, medical care, food, transport, etc etc etc is very near zero.
I'm amazed how gullible people are being in regard to these fantastical Utopian promises.

One major correction: Most of these robots disrupting current industries won't be "humanoid".
Robots will be far, FAR more efficient if they are designed for a specific range of tasks. They will need to be MANY different shapes and sizes. Some will be flat like Roombas. Some will be insectoid or spiderlike. Some will be "dog"-shaped, like the ones from Boston Dynamics. Some will be simple boxes with wheels and a bunch of arms on top. Some will mimic other animals like dolphins or snakes or turtles. Many will just be aerial drones with various attachments to change their function as needed. Relatively FEW will be "humanoid".
There are only 3 actual reasons to make a human-shaped robot:
1. To deceive people into thinking they are human.
2. To "replace" a loved one who is dead.
3. Sex.
For literally ANY other task, there are LIMITLESSS other shapes and sizes that are FAR more efficient to use than "humanoid".
Caring for people in hospitals, nursing homes, teaching, etc., all will probably have a human shape.
All workers want is a living wage, while companies refused. They will spend billions on robots though.

@@mistycloud4455 Nah that's not happening in the way you think it will. by 2029 AI wont be a lot better then it is now. Sure AI will continue to get better but its not going to make a huge jump in just 5 years. Maybe in 15 to 20 years you may start seeing early signs of AGI.

The solution is basic income that is paid out based on testing (knowledge accumulation) and fitness. Humans must have something to do and staying fit and intelligent should be the top priority.

Horses did NOT become optional. They became obsolete, and there was simply nowhere left for them to work inside cities.

Humanoid robots for physical labor, definitely. But for office work? No way, AI will integrate directly, there will be no need for conventional offices. The office work will be outsourced to companies that specialize in it. The likes of SAP services fully integrated. Towering office buildings will be replaced by far more compact server farms. Cities will literally be reshaped.
Think I'll buy SAP shares.

I’d like to know more about the latent demand for labor - which jobs are so undesirable or underpaid that no one will do them? And how much value will they really create?
Either way - the slow, controlled release of humanoid robots into society is probably one of the most difficult planning challenges we will ever face… and likely where the most damage will be caused…

Yes, the uber wealthy have always hated having their help have human needs. Once the robots can do what they did then they can be unlived with no inconvenience to the upper class. Workers will cease to exist. Anyone who can deal with that can thrive, all the rest can leave earth. Bye-bye. Personally, I think the rich are going to be sorely disappointed by their fantasy of perfection and will not find relief from eliminating normal humanity all over the earth breathing their air. But I am too old to see the outcome predicted by this idea.

This is entirely different from the horse we’re talking about literally making the human brain obsolete.
But will they put UBI before 2030!? Many pioneers including billionaires, scientists, Nobel Prize winners, engineers, architects, analysts and so on and so forth... almost all agree on the fact that we will have AGI in 2027 and ASI in 2029 and they look and evaluating the exponential technological acceleration curve, I wonder why they have not yet implemented universal basic income to anticipate the trends that will come from it. Just to name one, Elon Musk says that we will have AGI as early as 2025 and ASI in 2029.
I agree that we need to find ways to implement UBI ASAP. Hopefully, as the cost of highly capable humanoid robots "powered by" AGI/ASI comes down and prices of other commodities drop, UBI income will rise and support demand for products created by AI and robotics. If that happens, we can just roll more or less "seamlessly" into this new world. However, a big key to that is to begin introducing and implementing UBI NOW! If it is actually inevitable that we are about to experience drastic deflationary pressure due to massive increases in productivity caused by AGI/ASI and robotics, perhaps this will be a situation where a judiciously applied inflationary monetary policy can actually save the world. 🤔
Those AI tech leaders that have mentioned UBI are already backing away from it, as would be expected. The libertarians and neoliberal economic types that dominate AI tech whether it's large corporations or open source are the last people that are going to be willing to redistribute their profits, or be taxed for the government to do so in the form of a UBI. IF some form of UBI does happen it will be at the expense of existing safety net programs and will not come close to being sufficient to pay for housing, healthcare, food, utilities, transport, and the list goes on and on. Furthermore IF such a UBI is distributed it will require biometric identification and surveillance to track what your purchase along with a social credit score to determine if you are worthy enough to continue getting it.

1. Robot workers will indeed reduce the real costs of goods due to reduced labor costs, BUT all governments have an explicitly inflationary monetary policy. This means that governments will simply print and spend even more money to counteract any deflationary forces that may arise. Your stuff is NOT going to get any cheaper.
2. Low quality goods are NOT mainly caused by the limitations of human workers. That is certainly a factor, but the main reason for low quality is consumers who demand ever-cheaper prices. Often the only way to do this is to use cheaper materials or processes, which leads to shoddy goods. You will never see the disappearance of cheap and low quality goods until consumers change their preferences.

it’s less of a disruption but more of a transition. We will always work.
One thing that kind of convinces me as to robots being integrated into society is that they are very fragile and slow now but soon will shed that fragility and speed up as they get more advanced.
We cant view AI and AI getting a body, any different than a new species coming into existence. Now think to yourselves, in the history of the universe...when has a smarter and more capable species, allowed a lesser one to rule them?
