Hey guys. I am loving this tool! Glad I am not the only one who thought that screw was ridiculously long. I think I agreed with everything you said in the review. Keep up the good work.
Tools & Stuff Thanks mate, I watched your review and we were very similar in our thoughts lol. But yeah I think it's a very well excecuted tool. (Mike)
There is a screw adjustment to make the base a little stiffer. Right on the side of the flip over latch. It's the first thing I did after testing mine out. Great review
Paulie Bonear Yeah I saw that and decided it was a trade off between quick slip on/off and having it not move as easy when adjusting. I'll see how I go but I think I'll end up giving that lock nut a tweak. 👍🏼 You happy with your unit overall ? (mike)
Oz Tool Talk mike oh yea man. I'm petty much making up excuses just to use this baby. I would really love to get that plunge base accessory but I live in canada and it's difficult too find these things right when they come out. Overall though I'm very impressed with its power and visibility of cut. Battery life is usually a given on makita brushless tools
Paulie Bonear lol nothing wrong with that :). I'd love the plunge base just to have it in case, but the fact I have 3 other plunger routers makes it a hard justification. Makita's batteries had a bad patch a few years ago but I've got nothing but good things to as about the for the past 5years+ 👍🏼
Oz Tool Talk didnt do my research to see if other brands had cordless out so hands up there! Great to see a makita one though this will probably get purchased in body only. Great use of cordless!
pasinen WOW so true !, I've never seen that. And it has a full clear base too which I love. Thanks for the info 👍🏼 I can't believe I've never seen that. (Mike)
Another great review! Just got a corded Hitachi m8sa2 as a first router. Though this cordless is tempting... maybe makita will become my new 18v line... thanks Mike and Dwain!
Very helpful video guys. I just bought the new kit with the extra two-handed body and side chute for dust....all very cool stuff in it's own big case. Looking forward to getting some work done now.
Interesting review. Re. micro adjuster suggestion (@12:30 ), perhaps laying the router down horizontally for fine adjustment would help avoid the dropping problem?
Almost identical to the mains version ,which is also a good unit,Ido find the height adjust on the Makita to be a bit clunky ,the Dewalt method is a lot better from what I've seen, although all routers scare the bejesus out of me
Nick M HAHA yeah I have a nice scar that reminds me to respect ALL routers. I've never minded the adjustment for the powered unit but I think the extra weight of the battery on top made me more aware. Still a big fan though. (Mike)
Good as gold mate! Does this router has actually the same 8mm collet as the rt700? I heard it's single split collet can be a quite awkward to get out and doesn't tight that well....
Not available over here :/ ... how about you guys send me that one? I'm pretty sure the batteries i already got will work just fine :D i know, i know...patience. breathe in....breathe out. Great video - cant wait for the tool to be released in Germany as well.
fazmano1 thanks mate, you will love it. The square base would have a code but I don't know It sorry. If you ask for the square base it should be simple. (Mike)
George McKnight (mike) Thanks George, Depends where you are from but I personally use mostly carbitool bits. A lot of companies have good bits so You can’t really go wrong unless you buy the $10 ‘value’ pack.(Not a fan)
Thanks Mike...been a cordless Makita user for a number of years now and just making the dip into the router/trimmer scene, so this tool makes a lot of sense, along with carbide tools, thanks for your recommendation
Anders Hansen I didn't do a runtime test but running a 6.0 on it at the time of review gave me a STACK of time. I don't Believe it will accept the 1.5 (has a plastic block) Makita has a crazy thing about using slims on 1/2 of they're range. Whilst I get it that they don't want high drawing tools running slims and getting say 10min runtime id still love for them to allow it.
[Dwain] having said that, the power draw of this tool will heat up your slims really fast. not good for them and will run out real fast. Go get some large batteries mate :)
Thanks for the answers. I will probably get one or two 5.0Ah batteries, especially if I'm getting the trimmer...I'm just looking for the right project to justify the buy :-)
(Mike) Personally i would go the Makita. I think it feels nicer and i like it has more metal. On the power front the AEG isn't far behind so its ALMOST a 50/50 decision. If you are on Makita batts then of course you would go here without any hesitation.
Just received a call from my tool supplier. My 'kit' version has just arrived, its my xmas present to myself..Looking forward to using it..
Just got this trimmer , absolute quality . 👌
for sure

sweet man ! cheers (Dwain)

Even my wife loves it and is using it for some crafty things. I might need to buy another one ;)
Hands down! This is one of the best battery routers I have bought this year!
haha nice
Got one recently - it is a beast. Looking at the plunge too, but its a fair wedge of cash.

If you leave a bit of pressure on the cam clamp when you’re adjusting the height it doesn’t slide as easy and makes it easier to do fine adjustments.
I bought the corded version a few months ago, I reckon it's the best tool I've ever had, so smooth. Cordless is very tempting though.
James Witty CUT THE CORD !
Glad you like the corded version, mine has always been super, bit of course I love cordless ! (Mike)
About time a cordless router came out! Great tool and great implementation of cordless. Thanks for the review and effort.
Ryan Cooper Yeah this is the third on the market but boy have they done a good number on it !(mike)
Oz Tool Talk didnt do my research to see if other brands had cordless out so hands up there! Great to see a makita one though this will probably get purchased in body only. Great use of cordless!
Actually Makita's FIRST cordless trimmer(and probably world's first cordless router) is: 3700D 7.2V Cordless Trimmer. Made about 20 years ago. :)
pasinen WOW so true !, I've never seen that. And it has a full clear base too which I love. Thanks for the info 👍🏼
I can't believe I've never seen that. (Mike)
Makita was two decades ahead of its time!! And all the Ryobi fanboys are saying that ryobi invented and made the world's first cordless router....
Another great review! Just got a corded Hitachi m8sa2 as a first router. Though this cordless is tempting... maybe makita will become my new 18v line... thanks Mike and Dwain!
[Dwain] I have a Makita model much the same size and power as that Hitachi. I really like the compact plunge models :)
Very helpful video guys. I just bought the new kit with the extra two-handed body and side chute for dust....all very cool stuff in it's own big case. Looking forward to getting some work done now.
[Dwain] cheers Hugh, enjoy this tool, it's incredible.
As always, great review!
NERemodeling Cheers mate, was FUN 😉 (mike)
Can't wait to get one on sale here i genuinely hate cords. Great review!!
Cheers Alvar, such a good tool to have cordless.
Nice review guys ! :)
dominic van lievenoogen Cheers mate !👍🏼
Interesting review. Re. micro adjuster suggestion (@12:30 ), perhaps laying the router down horizontally for fine adjustment would help avoid the dropping problem?
Tony Y yep good solution. 👌🏻
Mine came in the post last night. Left my batteries on the job tho so havnt been able to have a play with it.
Remove battery before adjusting the depth of cut.
that is for pussies, me and my 7 fingers tell that
Thanks, fellas. Another helpful review.
On a related note, I wonder if Hitachi will ever produce another trim router, cordless or not.
6:16 Bless you!
Dan A We were discussing that exact thing... SURELY they will have one in the pipeline. (Mike)

Nuc1eaR This tool is going to my GRAVE with me 😂 (mike)
Hey guys great video. Could you try with a 3 amp battery and tell me if you notice any difference?
Can this cut 40mm worktop joints? TIA
Awesome review, really looking forward to getting hold of one. Does the square base have a product code? Cheers guys
fazmano1 thanks mate, you will love it. The square base would have a code but I don't know It sorry. If you ask for the square base it should be simple. (Mike)
All sorted, thanks again Keep up the good work 👍
6:15 … and with that sneeze, the Covid epidemic began 🙂
Does Makita make a "tilt' base to fit this router ?
All the bases, that fit the corded model, will fit this one.
No mention of guide bushes.?
Finally!
Michael McGlynn HAHA, it took me a while but WOW was it worth the wait 😉 (mike)
Can this router handle tongue and groove bits ?
Excellent...what bits/cutters (brands) would you recommend?
George McKnight (mike)
Thanks George,

Any idea how long time the battery is expected to last. I run 1,5Ah batteries. Will it be too small for a router?
Anders Hansen I didn't do a runtime test but running a 6.0 on it at the time of review gave me a STACK of time.
I don't Believe it will accept the 1.5 (has a plastic block)

Please review the AGE brushless trim router
[Dwain] your wish is our command ;) It's in the pipeline...
how does it compare to the aeg one? which ones better in your opinion?
(Mike) Personally i would go the Makita. I think it feels nicer and i like it has more metal. On the power front the AEG isn't far behind so its ALMOST a 50/50 decision. If you are on Makita batts then of course you would go here without any hesitation.
good
Could I use this to cut out a rebate in a door frame?
James Hadley Absolutely you can !!
Oz Tool Talk what bit will I need to cut a 20mm rebate? And can I do thus without having to buy any additional attachments or bases? Thanks.
I'm guessing you guys aren't from Nebraska.
Nebraska, Aus? No ;)
Compare makita vs ridgid 18v cordlees
If you follow us on Insta, you'll see something along those lines in the coming weeks ;)
Oz Tool Talk i dont used instagram but ill be on line for the new thanks
Alright boyos quickly
