I and many other have stated all along that this should have been thrown out by the judge and never made it to a Jury decision. It was a ridiculous claim and it remains a ridiculous claim.
He missed a familiy funeral because of this non-sense?!? Good grief, we are not gonna make it as a people are we?
Of course , it is not like Ed can control American court scheduling.. and the time of passing of his grandma..
I'm far from a fan of Sheeran, but he's not wrong here. Because a song is similar doesn't mean it's a ripoff.
The songs aren't even similar.
Good for Ed Sheeran, and good for creativity!
Ed you are a legend in every sense of the word.
There's only a certain number of chord combinations that sound to the human ear. With the sheer amount of music created and copyright being held for so long there will be similarities. Gaye died seven years before Sheeran was even born. He's not stepping on his toes.
The fact that the original artist is no longer here shows its just money people trying to do money thing
If you ever tried to use youtube as a way to learn how to play an instrument. You will know about those 50 songs with the same 4 chords videos. If Ed would of lost this case so would those 50 songs we all know and love.
Total waste of court time. Congrats Ed! HAsnt Marvin’s family filed a suit like this in the past?
So this wasn't Marvin's family it was the family of co-writer Ed Townsend.
@@balcorn9211people just want attention
No they don’t. Marvin was a master and he worked with extremely talented people.
I think you're referring to the Blurred Lines case from a few years ago.
That comment about being a piggybank is so on point! Maybe they’re expecting him to just settle but Ed fought not just for his rights as an artist but also for all composers/songwriters/artists!
AGREE
Well, good for him for doing this despite costing him money for prolonged legal battle.
It would set precedence (a good one!) for other songwriters when they face similar legal battle.
Many small songwriter cannot cope with prolonged legal fees, and went to out of court settlement instead (despite they are not always in the wrong side here).
Ed brought up a good point, this is like claiming copyright on letters of the alphabet.
What a colossal waste of ti.e and effort on petty similarities. Copyright is a joke.
Shoottt 8 years for this battle??? Nuts... If I were Ed, I would have gone broke for those legal fees...
What was the name of the quack musical expert?
So happy for you mi laddy
The people that filed the claim are lowlife money grabbers
Welcome to U.S. capitalism where private capital will eventually bring current and past art and innovation to a complete halt for the purpose of creating and enjoying unless a mounting toll is paid to the owners in advance.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Good. And well articulated.
I wish you should be win 😍😍❤️❤️💙💙
Thank you for uploading this and everything you've uploaded. I randomly came across this channel and I've been very pleased to have done so. Thank you for your content that you share with us. Although the content may be controversial + it gets views/clicks... It's profitable in a way similar to major news networks on the youtube platform and beyond, while typically posting with a theme of what I call "controversial topics (+)". This channel tends to bring attention to topics that other outlets have a tendancy to disreguard during a given social climate & I enjoy this personally as a viewer. As a north american english native speaker, this content can seem translated from another language (very appropriately), yet from a trained eye it (your content) may stand out as "suspicious" or possibly generated by A.I. but most may not think so. What I seen is (A source of income for an individual/group that provides content on YT+ that caters to an audience that would likely not notice the true motive behind your content). Even if this channel's beneficiary(ies) intentions are soley monetary, the topics seem at least slightly less relevant than the top mass media outlets so.... Thank you & I'm a fan, but you make it hard to truly trust you and I think it is at least a 50% chance that this outlet is automated. Additionally, If this comment doesn't get a heart within the next 72 hours, this channel's chance of being Kira would be increased to over 9000%. Good income source 👍
No way... whoever was first thumbs up..... Youre a straight up savage I never expected anyone to see this
North American my a$$
I tried hard every way I could to connect the two songs over and over and couldn't for the life of me . The only thing I found in common was the titles of them I love both songs .
"no one owns the color blue" but that 💩 sculpture guy does own that one type of black 😭. Copyright laws are weird..
Hmm. Nice talk but how about "photograph" ?
If their's 20 or 30 years between songs it's possible or probably just time to reuse the notes 📝
Did I just hear a song in those words?? “No One owns the color blue.”.
8 years?!??
He came, he saw and he concurred
His music popular and big someone wants that 💰
When I listen, I will decide
Sounds alot like Brian McKnight "Crazy Love" to me
Beato !
Copyright should last the life of the author. Someone getting paid decades after the authors death is ridiculous.
❤❤❤❤❤
👋👋👋👋Great!
Ai stealing music rn
You wouldn't be saying this if it had been your music that you thought was stolen. It's what copyright law is for. Don't like it, get another job. This shouldn't be something anyone is worrying about with all the REAL problems in the world.
I love Ed, I think he is a good guy and really talented. And I really love love his music. But truthfully, when his song came out I thought it did sound similar to 'Let's Get It On' But I'm glad he won as I'm sure it was just a song that inspired him and he took from it- not stole from it...
Too bad,
The fact that so many people’s time had to be wasted on this ridiculous cash grab is really shameful.
Amy who? Just curious
cowriter of thinking out loud, amy wedge
@@footballshorts6260 thank you!
Okay but why is that his hair 🤔
Because it grows out of his head.
The creator gave him that hair and he is not vain enough to change it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Loser should have to pay Ed's attorney fees.
Yeah well baseless is one man’s trash another man’s life, so be thankful and get over yourself.
Really more on this dude. Come on do better
Yall crazy if yall not saying thats lets get it on ..
They are money hungry that's all
Common sense is dead...
What is the Gaye estate going to do when they find out about the AI tsunami ?
Is it ironic that someone who wrote "Thinking Out Loud" needs to read from a piece of paper?
Well when you write a song you need a paper.
@@GerbsCE Not really, only if you want to write it down. Lots of people go straight to digital.
Being original doesn't sound familiar or have a comparison to something that has been copied. Rip marvin gaye greatest off all time 🎉🎉🎉
Gayest* of all time
This was a demonic attack, Praise God and go be with your family.
Praise god? Really?
Lol wut?
@Russell Phelan it is very over the top.
@Russell Phelan HAIL SATAN
As a Christian I'm embarrassed when people say stuff like this
Ed Sheeran knows that those with the best lawyers win and that he has corporate money and power to rely on. If common sense had anything to do it he would be busking for a living.
Judges can be bought. This doesn't mean he didn't copy Marvin Gaye. Remember, Hollywood can pay for an outcome.
What
The jury decides the case genius not the judge.
This was a civil case involving a jury. God some people who are utterly brainless are usually behind conspiracy theories.
There are hundreds of songs before and after the Gaye song with the same chord progressions.
It was a Jury decision, dummy. If anyone bought a Judge, it was the Gaye estate who somehow didn’t get this dumb claim thrown out of court. Anyone who believes this was a legit copy right claim truly needs their head examined. This was nothing more than some sleazy people who own Gaye’s estate trying to make more money. If you like Marvin Gaye, then you should be as mad as anyone about how they are behaving.
Though I agree with the decision, it wasn't a "baseless claim." In all likelihood, it was just an unconscious mistake. At least I thought it was before Sheeran was so smug and sarcastically dismissive of it...
It was a bogus claim. And the fact that it went in for so long and robbed him of quality time with family (including his Grandma) is why he was annoyed in his statement - not smug and sarcastic
So happy 4 him, esp after it was his family that killed Marvin they deserve no money out of this.
I mean the song wasn’t just the same chords, It was also the same key, tempo, and groove. They definitely referred to “let’s get it on” multiple times while making their song.
Because you were there!? 😅
