Nothing can beat a mini vans spacious cargo and comfort if you have your car seats and in laws, I had a sequioa before but what a big difference in comfort and utility when we traded it in for an awd sienna. That 8 speed auto and 296 hp v6 is smooth and strong.
I have the 2018 Toyota Sienna XLE. Love it. One thing I would say that the third row seats can be stored in the Cargo Well. The levelled area, covered with a WeatherTech liner, gives ample room for our two German Shepherds to ride comfortably on long drives. What this Van is missing and those that were integral features of our 2006 Sienna are: 1. Front parking Sonar sensors. 2. A safety interlock that would prevent use of the Cruise Contril when l 2.a it is raining OR 2.b glaring light (oncoming traffic or rusinf/setting sun) is obscuring the driver's field of vision. Toyota should have retained the aforementioned safety features.
Actually, Dodge offered all wheel drive on their Caravan minivans first. I believe they were offered from 1991 to 2007. The Sienna is the only minivan that currently offers AWD though.
There's no need to cater to just moms and dads. I drive a minivan cause they're cool AF and chicks dig em. But not before they actually come for a ride and experience all that comfort and smooth riding. I learned that by default without even trying to catch any chicks but ended up with 2. Real Talk. Minivans for me all day and this is my 2nd Sienna. Still have the old one a 2004. It still runs just as good as my new one.
Want to know if you had the pleasure of driving your 2018 Sienna XLE in the rain yet we purchased ones about 8 weeks ago and when it rains the water on the road is so noisy inside the cabin you can't hardly hear yourself think it's almost like it doesn't have any sound deadening in the floor boards
Great practical review! That amount of space is insane, although that classic Toyota liftgate is super slow. Overall a sweet minivan, especially since it offers AWD!
0:44. Sorry, but with the exception of 1996, Chrysler offered 4WD minivans from 1991 - 2004 when Stow N Go seating storage space displaced the 4WD mechanicals. Seems that Stow N Go is more important to buyers than 4WD.
To be honest, I am not a big fan of minivan. I'm now a fan of the baby in the car seat. Is he your own baby or you borrowed from someone else? Super adorable!
would love to get one.... however the most important safety features(to me anyway) 360 camera and blind spot monitor are extras... and the 360 camera is ONLY on the most expensive trim!
Nice review. I chose the 2017 Odyssey because the top model had a middle 2nd row seat. Anyone find info on if it’s safer for two child seats to be in the middle 2nd and 3rd row or side by side in the second row? Did tons of research but never found any good data or recommendations besides just making sure the seats are properly installed.
Remove the middle seat in the second row and slightly push the magic sliding seats in a notch or two and voila, safe as hell. Safer than the dated Sienna. Check out the crash testing data on the Sienna. Also, you are right that the middle seat in any car is safest for a child.
ScoobyFermentation thanks. Unfortunately the 2017 only has about an inch or two slide in or outward. The 2018 is pretty awesome with the magic sliding seats with 5 positions I believe. Right now the 1 yo is in the middle second row and the 3 yo is in the middle 3rd row. I’m assuming safer for side impact but exposes my 3yo to more rear impact and a bumpy ride.
Dave Eriksson, Everyman Driver, I managed to talk to ALL Sienna owners, we all found it very offensive that you refer Sienna, as a "mom or dad" or even "soccer van" when CLEALY restaurant owners and other businesses or other taxi drivers or UBER drivers what have you, using this too, Do you know why Toyota adds a Sporty SE to the Sienna, it's because Toyota made it clear that Sienna is NOT a Mom mobile or for Dads only. Can you PLEASE, RE-FILM the Sienna review video over again please? If not, then there will be a law suit against you. Thank you. All Sienna owners out there.
The all-wheel drive is really pointless for a civilian road car. It's never going off road and doesn't have the clearance to do so. Say there's over a feet of snow on the ground. What matters when there's heavy snow is tires and ground clearance. I don't care if you have the best AWD system like in Subarus but you've got all-seasons and you are only 5" off the ground. There's no way you can get around a foot of snow when your car is too low and have slippery tires. SUVs with over a foot of ground clearance and winter tires will get out of any deep snow and slippery stuff. The only advantage with AWD is that if you got stuck it will pull out of snow easier but won't help if you got crap tires. That is why AWD in a minivan is overrated.
This vehicle has issues with tires wearing uneven and excessively. Be ready to change tires at just 17K miles. Read complaints at Sienna chat forum. Toyota has no fix for this issue as of now and dealers will tell you it’s normal tire wear. If you have less than 12K miles and within the first year I suggest check your tires ASAP for the uneven and excessive wear and complaint right away with Toyota USA they might cover your tires warranty. Past one year and 12K Miles you’re on your own. I’m planning to trade mine for a Honda ASAP as tire or suspension issues could potentially be a safety issue. This is a family car and safety should be top priority!
That would be a good thing to test out perhaps with a small twig and see if it can deliver on that safety feature in a review vehicle. So much stuff gets automated these days. I am assuming you can manually close the sliding doors and rear hatch without messing up the motors that do it?
I have an older chevy blazer with the 4.3L engine and my highway mpg is 22 . People were saying in other reviews that they were not getting the 27 mpg but rather 24mpg with the Sienna. I find it rather disappointing that they cant deliver better mpg with the 3.5 L engine and all the new tech available in engines today.
This van is tired. It badly needs a redesign - the crash test is terrible. The design is dated. The floor is so high, I need a ladder to get up on the first step. Compared to the Honda and the Chrysler, this looks like the grandfather.
Toyota had to repaint my Sienna. Now the steering column is broken and all the plastic parts are breaking. The weather stripping is also deteriorating. POS Toyota .
We love our 2017 sienna SE From all vehicles I’ve owned and driven, nothing drives and rides as nice as our sienna, very quiet and smooth ride, very comfortable seats, very good on gas, 24 is the lowest I’ve seen, I’d recommend it to any family, thank you Toyota 👍
Thank you for your test drive and explanation of the 2018 Toyota Sienna. I loved my 2011 Sienna and had almost 240,000 miles on it. Unfortunately I was in an accident and am looking for a newer used Sienna. I run a cleaning business so I need the large cargo area for my vacuum and supplies. I like that Toyota added more safety features on the newer models. The challenge is to find a used van with 40,000 or less miles.
Why did you do that setup with 3rd row? You should have just folded the row into floor and you would have tons of room for your golf bags and stroller.
For a moment, I had forgotten this was a loaner press car, and not your's. Are you going to get one? These make more sense than most 3-row crossovers, and safer in a rear collision.
The Pacifica & Odyssey was on the top of my list on purchasing our first minivan... how would you compare this to it? An which would you prefer over the other? The front seats are most important especially driving long distances... would you be able to distinguish which one was most comfortable?
DSM jUhnky IMO I tried both the caravan, Pacifica and odyssey but the one that felt better seat wise was the Toyota among other things. It also feels like the Toyota has more power especially important when you want to pass people. This can can easily do 90 mph not that you would want to of course. 😉
Yes, but I can hide stuff like their Xmas presents or birthday gifts in the stow and go right under their feet. And that, is all I got, everything else? I lose on. Nice van!
Thanks for sharing great review. I bought 2018 Sienna XLE AWD a month ago and my wife lloves it!!! I saw some posting regarding 2018 sienna’s poor crash test result, especially on the front passenger’s side. Do you have any comments on this? Thank you.

The practicality of a Minivan for a family is pretty much unbeatable.
I bought a 2015 limited awd and so far its my best purchase ever my wife and 3 kids just love it.tnx for review
Hows the highway milage with the awd. How do you like awd vs non awd?
Also, the Sienna is the only minivan with all-wheel drive.
Made in USA
Pacifica?
Toyota has really made their cars a lot more stylish !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job. I bought a 2017 Sienna awd, xle and it remains a great purchase. You also highlighted a few features I had overlooked. Lol. Thanks again.
The Toyota Sienna looks handsome in that color
can't believe the size of that stroller??? its like a Yaris in itself???
The sienna doesnt have 5 competitors. Its main rival has been the Odyssey. Its the only Minivan that can challenge the sienna.
I have the 2018 Toyota Sienna XLE. Love it. One thing I would say that the third row seats can be stored in the Cargo Well. The levelled area, covered with a WeatherTech liner, gives ample room for our two German Shepherds to ride comfortably on long drives.

Whenever I see someone with the car sienna it is so weird Bc my name is sienna 😂
I started to like toyota sienna more than suvs
Nice Mommy Missile you got there, Dave!
Is that your baby?? :-) if so, congratulations to you and Melissa!!
AK K If not he isn’t a very good thief
Used to want to buy one until I saw the crash test.
I secretly like mini vans and i want one. I dont buy one because of the man code. I will loose my credibility in the streets.
If you pull out the middle row seats does it still leave the track system in or is it nice and flat?
great. video. you seem a little frazzeled at times. Go, Dads!
Someone had been watching pitch meeting
Does this make and model have the easy speak/voice intercom?
Yes.

I hope you got your wheels replaced in the recall.

There is a company in Arizona that makes a 3.5 inch lift kit for the Toyota Sienna all wheel drive. That is the way I'm going to go!
Journeys Off Road in Prescott Arizona carries the lift kits for the Toyota Sienna.
We need Vellfire and Alphard in America not sienna!
And estima
stow-n-go much?

AK K sorry about that... I’ll fix it for next time.
where is the middle seat on the second row ?
Awesome!!!👠🚌👠
我们要去看电影时 这是因为仪表盘 型号 我们不喜欢
8:37 - nice legs 😁
Hopefully those automatic doors wont crush or cut off little kid limbs
There's a safety feature that won't allow that to happen.

Good luck with slamb doors then. No safety option there.
Did he really use real babies for this video?
I think so, doesn't the baby look real?
You are too much Dave
Nope. He paid some midgets to get in the car seats.
More like a limo.notba bus.
That front grill is so ugly, it's scary!
Second!
This van is tired. It badly needs a redesign - the crash test is terrible. The design is dated. The floor is so high, I need a ladder to get up on the first step. Compared to the Honda and the Chrysler, this looks like the grandfather.
Junk
Toyota had to repaint my Sienna. Now the steering column is broken and all the plastic parts are breaking. The weather stripping is also deteriorating. POS Toyota .
What year was your Sienna?
Lol sure...
2:32 is that a real baby?
I kinda kinda want this.
We love our 2017 sienna SE

Great review. Thanks!

Great van Toyota
For a moment, I had forgotten this was a loaner press car, and not your's. Are you going to get one? These make more sense than most 3-row crossovers, and safer in a rear collision.

Eddie Canales Good to know... thanks for the heads up!
The Toyota is the only mini van that offers all wheel drive as an option.
Nice dadcar man! Which car did you like most to drive (among all the cars you drove)? Thanks.
Congrats on the kid! I am in the same boat and thinking about a mini van, but mostly because they seem to offer a lot more function that a truck
Outstanding video Dave one quick question does the adaptive cruise control have start-stop crawl feature?
Love the review.
I don't have kids, but I'd drive this people hauler! :-)
The caravan used to have all wheel drive back in the day.
I would buy this one anyday over the new sluggish unpractical one with that awful 4 cylinder
Yes, but I can hide stuff like their Xmas presents or birthday gifts in the stow and go right under their feet. And that, is all I got, everything else? I lose on. Nice van!
Very nice looking car but the infotainment system is really dated.
that appears to be the new entune 3.0 that only the newest Toyotas come with. If it looks dated you should look at the entune 2.0
Thanks for sharing great review. I bought 2018 Sienna XLE AWD a month ago and my wife lloves it!!! I saw some posting regarding 2018 sienna’s poor crash test result, especially on the front passenger’s side. Do you have any comments on this? Thank you.
Thanks for the super helpful review! You made my day with the "Super easy, barely an inconvenience!" comments. Lol.
Which has more control on snowy or icy roads? The Toyota Sienna AWD or the Toyota Highlander 4WD?
My bycicle has bigger wheels 29 inches 😂😂😂
Great info!!

Nice Toyota advertisement
Remote start???
You need an assistant to hold the vid recorder, Dave.
Totally.... if I had the money. Maybe I need an intern?
You doing a great job! Thank you!
How does an adult get to the third row with those car seats??
