I'm here because of the guy that made a video of him speaking french. I thought it was so cool because it sometimes sounds like french canadian (je suis québécoise) and we have a lot of expressions in common. Like "icitte" which means "ici" (here) lâchez pas votre bon travail guys :) i like your music xx

Sweet Crude, you rock! Please keep on makin' music! I'm Cajun and it's SO cool to hear the culture being expressed in such an awesome way! Laissez Les bons temps rouller!!
I do not know but when I listen to this song, it is as if I was in a place where everything is peaceful, in clear I feel good listening to this music of Sweet crude
I personally was shocked and pleased at the same time when I heard it once in a Folger’s coffee commercial. They’ve got a great sound, and it’s MODERN Louisiana French. I love Cajun music, but half of it has become repeating the lyrics to the same few songs in the same style. Que le français louisianais vive, you gotta sing it in other genres too and make it likable and alive!
I also just love this song because it tells a story that I think we all can relate to - we all know someone (usually an older woman, like I presume the character in this song is supposed to be) who left behind an exciting life to move on with a family to the country or somewhere calmer. And she’ll say she’s happy, sure, but she deeply misses who she used to be and would rather back in crowded, busy New Orleans among her kind anyday. That’s what the whole “je va(I)s chanter pour réveiller mon âme” part is about - someone who’s sad and lost, who tries to find this one thing that brings out her old self and gives her joy
good to see you guys moving up in the world. keep making music the the great state of Louisiana would be a little less fabulous with out you in it. sláinte
I caught you cats last night in Sugar Hill, Georgia as you opened for 'Tank And The Bangas' and 'The Preservation Hall Jazz Band' and I loved you and your energy is amazing. Thank you
Merci de partagé votre héritage francophone du sud des États tout comme l'a fait Zacharie Richard avant vous. Longue vie à votre culture que j'espère visiter un jour. Bonjour de la région de Québec au Canada.
I've been working in Cameron Parish the past few months, so I started listening to Cajun and zydeco music. This song came on my spotify recommended just a few days ago and I loved it! I especially liked the mention of the loup-garou, which piqued my interest bc I've been learning about the folklore of Louisiana. I can't wait to see yall at Tipitina's in October!
Merci! Hello Everybody, just a quick question, are there bands such as Sweet Crude from Maine,USA? it's also a Francophone State but i have never heard of any french speaking bands from there. Can anyone help me out by mentioning some? Thanks!
I like that people say they love this song (of course they do, it's amazing) but....do they know the meaning? Do they know the origins of the language that is sung here?? Just something I'm curious/worried about.

Lyrics
Oh mon âme, oh mon âme
Je vas chanter pour réveiller mon âme
Mon esprit, mon esprit
Je vas chanter pour libérer mon esprit
Oh mon âme, oh mon âme
Je vas chanter pour réveiller mon âme
Mon esprit, mon esprit
Je vas chanter pour libérer mon esprit
Écoutez le son
Des feuilles du gros chêne
Dans la cour d'en avant
Équand la lune est pleine
Écoutez le son
De petits chaouis
Après jouer en dehors
Rougarou et zombi
Rougarou et zombi
On l'a fait pour les enfants
On l'a fait pour être contents
On l'a, l'a, l'a
On l'a, l'a fait
On l'a fait
Oh mon âme, oh mon âme
Je vas chanter pour réveiller mon âme
Mon esprit, mon esprit
On l'a, l'a, l'a
On l'a, l'a fait
On l'a fait
Oh mon âme, oh mon âme
Je vas chanter pour réveiller mon âme
Mon esprit, mon esprit
Je vas chanter pour libérer mon esprit
Oh mon âme, oh mon âme
Je vas chanter pour réveiller mon âme
Mon esprit, mon esprit
Je vas chanter pour libérer mon esprit

Oh my soul, oh my soul
I'm gonna sing to reawaken my mind
My spirit, my spirit
I'm gonna sing to free my spirit
Oh my soul, oh my soul
I'm gonna sing to reawaken my mind
My spirit, my spirit

Listen to the sound
Of the oak tree leaves
In the front yard
When the moon is full
Listen to the sound
Of small raccoons
Playing outside
Werewolf and zombie
Werewolf and zombie
We did it for the kids
We did it to be happy
We did, did, did
We did, did it
We did it!
Oh my soul, oh my soul
I'm gonna sing to reawaken my mind
My spirit, my spirit
I'm gonna sing to free my spirit
Listen to the sound
Of beating hearts
The wasted breaths
The slamming doors
"It'll do some good
the trees and fresh air
it's gonna take some time"
If I had time
If I had time
We did it for the kids
We did it to be happy
We did, did, did
We did, did it
We did it!
Oh my soul, oh my soul
I'm gonna sing to reawaken my mind
My spirit, my spirit
I'm gonna sing to free my spirit

I'm gonna sing to reawaken my mind
My spirit, my spirit
I'm gonna sing to free my spirit
