- Опубліковано 17 жов 2024
- Wasatch Overland in Salt Lake City installed my new Tuffport High Top on my E350 Econoline Van. They all also installed insulation and cedar siding inside the High Top. Smells like Campfire, Bacon, and Cedar inside now.

Your watching Primal Outdoors - Camping, Overlanding and Van Life. I am living the van life in my Ford E350 4x4 Van traveling around the remote public land system in Oregon.
Those gentlemen didn't faff around. They jumped on it and knocked it out quickly and professionally.
the functionality and comfort level got raised exponentially.
A great investment
Great video! So strange though. I went right to the website and the prices were clearly listed there. Not sure why so many in the comments struggled with this but its all good. Thanks for the work.
Cedar, bacon, and campfire smoke. I would buy that as an air freshener. Seriously!
"Spray of Jason" is a great idea! Every time my clothes smell like campfire, I will think it is a "Spray of Jason"! 😀🔥🌲
That shop and techs sure do a fine job...
Van is looking great Jason.
How exciting! I'm sure you're pretty stoked, yourself! Looking AWESOME!!! 👍😎🇨🇦📷👌
Wow excited for high roof conversion. Congratulations.
Good job kiddo, I am sure dad is very proud.
If I ever do a high top I am definitely going to call Wasatch overland. I had been looking at Fiberine but would definitely lean this direction. The top looks great on the van.
Wow, that's going to make a big difference. Thanks Don
Thank you for the awesome video Jason 😎👍
that was incredible. that shop was amazing. they were a great team. thank you so much for sharing the adventure see you out on the trail
Hello there I've been trying to find a video on this for a long-ass time I have a fiberglass raise camper shell on my bricknose falcon Van I don't like the old vinyl look I want to do cedar and get it. Nice feel. I'm happy I found this video
Looks great! I love the old school E350s. They look soooo much better than the newer Transit line.
Looks awesome but wow they are $$$$ even more than Fiberine! Only worthwhile to install on a newer van or a very low mile older van $7K is a HUGE investment but to stand without stooping is golden!
Fiberine base price does not include and wood strips on the walls for mounting cabinets and wood in the ceiling for a rack. These are all included with the tuff port so after you factor these things in the cost is about the same. As of late it seems fiberine is also charging 650 for the gel coat.
You need another puppy😢. I started watching you with both your pups and those vids were the best
Exciting!! The Van Upgrade was an excellent choice! ✨🤩👍
I'm seriously jealous. I had mine installed in Canada but I had to just figure out the interior paneling and stuff. So many wasted hours and second guessing everything I have done while I was doing it haha. It's a year later and I'm still not finished.
The top looks amazing can't wait to see the line-x and all of your gear back on it.
Congrats, that turned out amazing, and I think this makes a lot of sense for your van/home. The kitchen cabinet is a thing of beauty. The driver side window in the high-top is a brilliant addition. Looking forward to standing up in there one day! 🙋🏼♂️
What a upgrade. Being able to stand up is a game changer
That looks way better than I expected. Nice job.
The van looks great. Can't wait to see it with the roof rack and awning back in place. The inside looks incredible.
Can't wait to see the high top finished with the linex.
Looks great👍
Wasatch installed the high top on my Econoline 350
Looks great Jason. Best of luck with it .

Amazing shop, beautiful work.
Stoked to see the next van video out in the bush🤘🏽
Very nice. Looks great. The advantages are totally worth the cost.
So cool. They did an amazing job.
Looks really good Jason, can't wait to see it completely finished after you put your personal touch on it.
Beeyooteefull work and craftsmanship. I really like the cabin interior vibe you are going for. Makes me wonder...a high top Wrangler? Hmmm...heheh. Great video, thanks for taking us along. Skol!
Looks fantastic Jason.
Jason. Good choice. Job VERY well done!!! Those guys at Wasatch do GREAT work!!!! A million props to them for doing a wonderful job on your van. Now, you will have to update you channel icons once you get the Line-X sprayed!! Well done. Thanks for showing us that journey!!!! Stay safe!! Later.

Fantastic. Thanks.
Hey Jason! Saw you driving on 126 yesterday and that high top looks great! Can’t wait to see it after the Line X is done! Thank you for two amazing channels that bring zen whenever we watch and great information! Thanks for all you do!
Great shop, and an awesome build.
I’d love to have them do some work for me.
Rock On
Wow ! Definitely the way to go. So much more comfort and the new window is great .
Lookin Good !!
Congratulations. Looks beautiful!
The composite “honeycomb” is called Vertacell composite. It’s been used in the light and medium duty bus industries to construct the bus body into a uniform unibody construction. For decades this verticell composite body structure has proven to be stronger than conventional steel framed and skin structure.
Van is looking so good! The high top has made it a really spacious living area. Great job Jason! You’ve come a long way since I started watching you in the roof tent on the back of the pick up 👍
Your Space....at the end of the day its all about Your Space... It looks good!
The high is a great change. Especially for you being 6'4" or so. For me the cedar is a no no, I'm allergic as in giant case of poison oak entire body. See you at PLS this spring!
Looks great. That headroom gives so much space for other things. Can't wait to see how you adjust the interior ti the height.
Looks awesome! Man they did a great job.
What an improvement! Looks great!
That came out pretty good.
Looks amazing Jason! Man, your channel has evolved so much over the years. I enjoy it more and more year after year. I'm happy for you and look forward to new vids with the hightop, it's gonna be so much more comfortable for you. Thanks for sharing the process with us all to see! Cheers, great job Wasatch Overland!
It certainly looks like a game changer from here😉 Lookin forward to the more comfy content 😆
Congratulations Jason nice and clean job looking real good, be safe🙏🙏🙋♂️
Wow they did an amazing job. You're right, the way the cedar flows w the contours of the roof looks top notch. I heard him say R22 insulation. What did they glue to the roof?
Looks great Jason I’m happy for you
Sweet 😊
congrats
I am impressed. Just WOW!
Very impressed, it looks great.
Cool..
Awesome video
Looks great!
😂 Primal Outdoors fragrance, spritz of Jason. Congrats on the headroom. 🥾🏔🇨🇦❤️
There is also bullet mat truck sleeper manufacturers use to strengthen sleeper tops ,they say it will stop a .44 gun round . Referring to the honeycomb.
THAT is awesome!
Great job. Looks great. Look forward to your upgrades.
Very nice build. They did a great job.
Dude, where you nervous watching them cut the top out of your van? I sure was... The upgrade is going to be great being able to move around is paramount for me too. Great video with this one for sure. Thanks again for bringing us along, looking forward to the next one. Keep on camping man.
Looks great
Looks amazing!!
Awesome video! Can’t wait to see more of the build, that high top looks awesome defiantly the way to go😎
Looks awesome!!!!
I know what you mean about the cedar smell. I just built a simple sleeping setup in my Xterra with mostly just some good plywood and 2x3's, and it smells great even like a week later, I can just imagine what it smells like with the fresh cedar planks!
Sweet!
Great work on a high-top.
The insulation part seems....meh. R22 was mentioned about reflectix type insulation. Sadly that's not the case at all. Also, looked like there were air gaps between the wood and reflectix, might consider some thinsulate in that gap if it exists. You will get convection air movement which will lower the effective R-value. Not trying to be overly critical, but reflectix is poor insulation when it's touching anything as the foil outside layer is really good at thermal conduction. Reflectix site has a good, detailed outline how to get the most out of their product, but mostly it gets ignored as people slap it in vehicles. I'm sure it will help insulate a little, but maybe R0-3range depending on the details. As an added bonus a bit of thinsulate will reduce noise from rain on the roof by a tiny bit.
HEY! Hello Jason!
Who needs an expensive sprinter now!
Van looks great! Curious, what did they use as a sealant for the top? I see him adding Butyl for the screws, but says it's not a primary sealant. I ask because I am having leaks in my high top and wondering what the pros use. Thanks
Cutting a fiberglass topper without a mask, goodbye lungs!
Hi! Your van turned out great! I am restoring a Chinook campervan that has a fiberglass topper. Mine roof appears to be unsupported, but the fabric roof lining was damaged and I'd like to switch it up for asthetics and do something like you did. There does not seem to be anything withing the fiberglass to screw into to attach any kind of ceiling. What are the metal supports you used and where can I find them? I'd appreciate any info you can offer. Thaks!
I don't think the height will affect mileage all that much. I like the side windows.
Came accross your Channel and Love Love How they did your high roof Extension, How much it cost totally and where do they located , thinking to get mine done
You might have to watch low trees now but being able to stand up in it i think is way better. I'm waiting for the new camping video now & the first run of it. Keep them coming
Thats What Im Talking About
I was wondering how tall you are, to estimate internal height. Looks good. Im impressed.
Wouldn't be without a high/midtop.
Eau de Jason? Bottle that essence..🤣🤣
👍
How does this impact safety and rigidity?
What is the new head height?
I like the front slope for aerodynamics, not flat like other tops.
Any warranty for potential leaks?
