I'll try to explain the mind smacking serendipity that I experienced tonight; in part due to discovering this video. I was researching the process to sell my MK3 when I accidentally came upon this video. The hunger to learn is back with a vengeance and I've at long last found my teacher! Thank you for a top shelf dose of clarity and professionalism. Whatever is next, just sign me up.
Had my mk3 almost a year and was using it for a paperweight the last few months I was so frustrated trying to learn how to use it from tutorials which usually frustrated me more. They went so fast that I would have to rewind and watch over and over to finally figure it out then stumbled across your tutorials and now I'm proud to say my Mk3 is totally dustfree and I'm actually starting to have fun with it! You the man Jeff!
I have a Groove 3 subscription and have bought a Udemy course, but nobody has come close to explaining Maschine like you Jef! Thank you for doing this! 🙏🏾
Jefferson, you are the best teacher of maschine on YT. Hands down. I search for more and have come back to you multiple times. Reason being, in my mind, is that you have a lot of valuable content in short segments. It's hard to digest fully. You do slow it down to reiterate certain things, other's get passed...but, it's like Rague, "it's in there" . I just have to revisit and learn the parts I missed while grasping the first bit. Thanks a million.
Jeff, I don't have Maschine but have promised it for myself some time in 2022! Your video was recommended to me, you have a very patient way of explaining and that Analogue Dreams melody was impressive! Thx :)
I gave up with my M3 about a year ago, Was going to give it one more try before letting it go. So so glad i found Mr Gibbons. Take a bow Sir, i'm all fired up & looking forward to a fresh outlook & perhaps even actually learning how to use this amazing piece of kit. I too have looked at so many tutorials in the past but just found it so difficult to keep up & had almost decided i must be particularly stupid or just plain dumb ! You're delivery style really works for me & i'me able to take in a lot of info without being totally bombarded! Great effort thanks Jef.
Thank you for this easy to follow, straight to the point intro to using the MK3. I was beginning to lose the will to live with trying to fathom how and where to start. Whilst there are plenty of other 'Beginners' tutorials out there, the ones I have so far watched are overly feature rich with 'do this, hold that, press shift and stand on one leg' type instructions. Overwhelming to say the least. What you present here is exactly what I needed :)
I have to admit… I made the video as a beginner, but forced myself to read the manual… that’s probably why it resonates with beginners, I was one!!! And since then I love the maschine!!!
Thanks so much Jeff for creating this video. You've got a great flow and method of teaching. I was struggling trying to figure this software and controller out and your video made it so easy. You are the man!!!!
Hands down the most instructive intro to Maschine Mk 3 compared to MacPro Video, Ask, ADSR etc. Essential viewing for anyone new to the NI beat ecosystem. Thank you for sharing.
Have fun with it! If you're new to drum pads, I recommend forcing yourself to play on the pads every day... play along with other songs or just make up your own beats from the different kits. It's amazing how fast you can train your fingers...
Jeff, greetings from Germany. This vid is absolutely priceless. Thank you for all your work and effort. Since 3 weeks I try to figure out on youtube how this works, and i am hating and loving the idea of this maschine as a new approach to making music. Yesterday for the 1st time I went here to a professional store to watch a demonstration by one of the guys there. So far I only know keyboards and Cubase to make music but I guess I will order one of them soon and enter a complete new world.
Thanks Peter, it took me a lot longer to get my brain around than it should have, it's just a very different way of making music, but after forcing myself to dig in, I really love the workflow.
Jef... I literally can't thank you enough. After having watched SO many videos before taking delivery of my MK3 yesterday I truly believed I was the oracle for all things NI Maschine MK3. As it turns out, I didn't know what button you pushed to make the god damn thing work!!!!! This was so helpful man. New subscriber and I'm now about to watch the rest of your tutorials! Thanks again dude! Keep up the awesome work! And please keep the MK3 tutorials coming haha!
I wish I had come across this A year ago. Having spent my hard earned cash on udemy and groove 3 courses and still left confused, your intro means the fog has lifted for me. Thank you so much. You have a new subscriber 😊
Thanks for doing what many others say but don't. You make it easy to follow as if you'er truly new to Maschine MK3. You use examples with sound that usually come with the MK3 and show us how to discover many of the fine points that others leave out or assume you already know. Thanks for knowledge.
i just got my mk3 earlier this morning.ive been up 24 straight and i swear your tutorial was so dope i literally made one of my best beats in my life behind how well detailed and simple your tutorial! is u up 10+ points with me !!!! u earned a like a coment and a subscriber man Thank you, so much
Thanks Jef. I just upgraded from MK1 and was looking to brush up on the features so I can take my Maschine productions to the next level. I'll be watching the rest of this series!
I've watched a good number of videos and so much of what you've discussed was left out by the other presentations. You filled in many holes and it is most appreciated. Very nice - and professional - explanation of how to use this somewhat complex hardware/software. Thank you.
You are the MAN! Inspired me to start putting my own Maschine vids onto my youtube channel! I need to step up my game now. Thanks for all your hard work explaining some of the confusing things about the MK3, the tips are priceless.
Thanks, Jef. Just unboxed my MK3 this evening and after your video I am way ahead of where I would have been otherwise. I think I will have to give it a re-watch tomorrow but it certainly got me going. I'm also a amateur photographer and videographer so I am glad to have found your channel. Cheers!
JEFF!! I wanted you to know that you have been a great help for me with this video, and im looking fwd to watching any and ALL other videos that you have for my Maschine! Thank you VERY much!!

I have never used any of the Maschine products from NI but a family member has the Mikro and told me that if I want to create and be very portable, Maschine makes more sense due to the on screen editing features. The closest I ever came to it was testing an MPC many years ago. Of course, we both know every person creating a tutorial has their own style. Been hunting through MK3 videos, looking for tips/tricks to pick up, and learn the software/hardware a little better. I think this is one of the better videos I've seen, and a great video for anyone just getting started!
It looks like just the way I pictured it when it comes to the sounds and the used, I might not go in to work for a week when it gets here. It’s basically like I helped design the program..... you have here one happy beat and groove maker

You, sir, are an absolutely insane teacher. I have paid for many courses on Maschine and have lost interest almost immediately. I love your way of teaching and say thank you for your time and effort.
Just bought a Maschine studio and was very much in the dark, this vid has helped so much. A few differences between mine and the mk3 as far as interfaces goes but no major deal.
Man, thank you so much, very straightforward. If my father had taught me Maths the way you taught us this, I'd have been a genius. Respect brother! 🙌🏿 New sub/like for you 😊
Jef... thank you so much!!! I bought Maschine MK3 but I instantly knew It would be hard if not impossible for me to read the 355 pages manual of this controller. You reveal to us a profound knowledge of all mk3 aspects, which turns the learning process to noobs like me, something really engaging. Subscribing your channel at the moment. Again... thx very much ^_^
Hey you did a really good job with this one. You explained the basics quickly and it made a lot of sense. Thanks! Please post more videos like this one.
Hey Jef, great beginner vids for Maschine. Suggestion for a future topic could be using Maschine software on the Komplete Kontrol keyboards. I was surprised to see just how much one can do (I also have an S61 MK2) and opted to not bother with the Maschine hardware at all. May be others in this situation who would benefit.
This was the first helpful video.i came across. Machines workflow is so different than what I'm used to but I feel like once I get it down I'll be able to accomplish quite a bit. So thank you for this. Do you mix in maschine as well? I'm interested in learning how to apply affects to individual sounds in groups.
Thanks Luey! I have a video on fx coming... As for mixing, it just depends on the project. If it's a contained Maschine project I'll mix it in there, but often I'll be mixing it with other elements in a Cubase project.
@@jefgibbons I see. Makes a lot of sense. I'll probably be bouncing stems to FL to actually record and mix. Thanks again so much for your help. You've changed my life.
I love this. You have a relaxed approach and kept it to the basics as described in your title. I look forward to watching your MK3 tutorial videos all night long. My MK3 was just collecting dust because I felt learning a new DAW was daunting, but this video inspired me to create in new ways. Thanks man, just subscribed.
This is definitely a big help and I will be coming back to this video, my MK3 is coming later this week. I use FL Studio so this is definitely new to me.
Jeff, these are such great videos, I feel like I owe you money! I bought a Komplete Kontrol S49 a bit ago, and found these videos...I have now purchased Maschine haha! Gonna be digging through this playlist for sure! Wondering if you would ever consider doing a video on using the Komplete Kontrol Keys in tandem with Maschine through a DAW? I imagine they compliment each other well and curious to see if there are any special functionality or workflow eases tips using the two...would love your input!
Hey Jef, your videos have been a huge help to this new Maschine user, so thank you! Did have a question for you though, not sure if you can help. But sometimes I get tons of popping and crackling when playing with the Maschine. It can be fine for days then all of a sudden it happens and gets really bad. I've looked on line and tried changing latency and other settings, but it always eventually seems to come back. Any advice?
Really in-depth, and really well presented; I've been using my Maschine for a week or so (coming from Ableton) and the nuances are so different. This video is a real help in learning all the buttons and areas, and I have high hopes for the rest of the series. So thank you!
That's one of the most useful machine tutorials I've ever seen even compared to paid courses. I feel like you could easily expand this into a full paid course. You can cover so much content just at the 18:00 mark when you jump to having the project fleshed out with more scenes.
Very helpful. Got a Maschine MK3 about a year ago but got off track and sort of forgot about it. I pinkie swear that I’ll keep with it this time if you keep making videos. Subbed.
I got the first edition of the Maschine and just couldn't get into it as at that time I couldn't find much in the way of an easy explanation of using the device. I just ordered the MK3 after getting the music bug again (I play bass/guitar and drums, but this is all just a hobby), I'm so glad I found this channel, it's a great straight-forward explanation of the features. You got a new sub. :)
You are really a good teacher Jef ... thank you for this good tutorial ... will go into all the Maschine tutorials you have posted as I just received it yesterday and you are the man to take me to understand how it works ... please keep on doing this good work ... thank you
Hey Jef, I've recently upgraded to Maschine MK3, and I'm having an issue that's confusing the heck out of me. When I recored multiple sounds, takes or loops from external audio via the Sampling workflow, like guitars or synth, I often find that I can't pan the individual sounds within the group. No matter where I set the pan control knob, the sounds are still in the center, although I can set individual levels. Panning works fine at the Group level, I just pan the individual sounds within the group. The crazy thing is that it doesn't always behave this way. Any ideas? Is there something I'm missing?
Just bought a Mk3 and this video has really simplified some of the things that I need to get started messing about with making some beats! Also love the live edge desk, got one myself where my Maschine will rest on!
Dear Mr. Gibbons, I really dig the videos you produce! Amazing source of knowledge and musical talent. Please keep on posting your MK3 videos. You only are the reason my slow but ever improving getting grasp of the Maschine depths.
Finally I got into the groovebox/beatmaking thing and bought me a MK3, and go through all your tutorials, and they got me up and running, thx a lot for all these high quality video's, love your style and professionalism, again thx a lot,
Man all this time i had a mk3 and never tried to Learn it cuz i use another DAW but this plus gonna make me learn it again after watching this i think i might enjoy more than just the drums i didn’t even know you can do scales smh thank you appreciate the help and effort
So always LOVE your tutorials Jef that I find myself revisiting them all the time. Maschine MK3 is indeed the best.. reminds me of my old Alesis HR-16 & MMT-8 days but throwing in so much more. The Ultimate producer's programming dream machine making one creative again without getting lost in their DAW solely.
Thanks for a great overview. I recently bought the Machine Mk3. It's still in the sealed box because the store has it on a no return policy. Machine is definitely different than my Roland MC-707 Groovebox. I printed the manuals (2000 pages) and hope to setup and test it soon. Imagine downloading GigaBytes of software over a cellphone hotspot. Your channel provide some of my training.
Sir Jeff thank you so much for your professionalism for your intuitive to show us the details that we need and helping us save time thank you so very much you're truly Danny B Funman

Just bought a Maschine studio and was very much in the dark, this vid has helped so much. A few differences between mine and the mk3
as far as interfaces goes but no major deal.
Do you find the Studio version easier, w/ more dedicated buttons & less “shift” functions??? ty 🎛
Jef, I am so glad I found your video. You are so much clearer than the NI manual, and more to the point also.
Excellent Introduction. Many Thanks.
Again... thx very much ^_^
Your teaching style is GREAT...and that's coming from someone who also teaches maschine. Great work !
Uncle Knock!! Man, I absolutely love your stuff, been subbed for a while, it means a ton to me to have you say that. Thanks for everything you do!!
Great vid jef, just bought my mk3 yesterday and this vid was the best in explaining mk3 functionality. Keep them coming :)
Right on, have fun with it!
Hey you did a really good job with this one. You explained the basics quickly and it made a lot of sense. Thanks! Please post more videos like this one.
+Tim Raymond will do, thanks for the post!
I think you should do all NI tutorials. I learned more in this 20 min tutorial than months of struggling to make sense of it all. Thank you Jeff!
👀
You're a great teacher. Liked the last tune! Thank you !
Not a bad idea, but I just love the Maschine ecosystem so much, I feel at a loss when I don't have the pads!
Best MK3 starter tutorial to get you going quick. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks John!
For sure! Super helpful!
@@jefgibbons you made this so easy. THANK YOU.
New subscriber
Beautiful tutorial. Clean and precise.
Thanks so much! New Maschine tutorial just uploaded!
Man I used to HATE Maschine. It was so counterintuitive; but aren’t most things at first? Glad I stuck with it; it’s a very powerful tool.
Best Maschine Videos Ever. THNX!!!
Hi Jef I’m a beginner learning to play maschine3 beat machine also your videos are very helpful thanks for sharing
Great tutorial, learnt tons from it, thanks so much.
+Mikestro Music dang, thanks for this! Made my day... and they’ve been rough lately...
This is definitely a big help and I will be coming back to this video, my MK3 is coming later this week. I use FL Studio so this is definitely new to me.
+Mr. So Lowkey right on! Enjoy it!
Awesome Vid!!! I've had my MK3 staring at me for a while. This is a good beginners breakdown
Thanks! That's the goal... get people using their sweet maschines!
Thanks so much, more to come!
That's one of the most useful machine tutorials I've ever seen even compared to paid courses. I feel like you could easily expand this into a full paid course. You can cover so much content just at the 18:00 mark when you jump to having the project fleshed out with more scenes.
+Martin Sotirov thanks Martin! New video posted today, more to come!
Very helpful. Got a Maschine MK3 about a year ago but got off track and sort of forgot about it. I pinkie swear that I’ll keep with it this time if you keep making videos. Subbed.
I just can say THANK YOU! NOW I can make some music with my Maschine MK3
Killer Work Jef - Thanks for the tips and basics.
Thanks for the comment Adam, I appreciate it! Glad to help out.
Great video mate. One thing I can't get to work is when I de - select patterns they don't seem to dissappear when I load a group up
I got the first edition of the Maschine and just couldn't get into it as at that time I couldn't find much in the way of an easy explanation of using the device. I just ordered the MK3 after getting the music bug again (I play bass/guitar and drums, but this is all just a hobby), I'm so glad I found this channel, it's a great straight-forward explanation of the features. You got a new sub. :)
You are really a good teacher Jef ... thank you for this good tutorial ... will go into all the Maschine tutorials you have posted as I just received it yesterday and you are the man to take me to understand how it works ... please keep on doing this good work ... thank you
Thanks Mario, much appreciated!!
Just got my Maschine today, and this was a great way to get kick-started. Great presentation and excellently put together. Keep it up, please :)
Awesome! It's overwhelming at first, but just take notes, and play around with it man, it's the most rewarding musical device I own!
Finally I got into the groovebox/beatmaking thing and bought me a MK3, and go through all your tutorials, and they got me up and running, thx a lot for all these high quality video's, love your style and professionalism, again thx a lot,
NOW a guy who knows how to teach Maschine from scratch !!! KUDO !
You deserve wayyyyy more subscribers! Great tutorials. Your channel made my Maschine experience 100 times better👍🏽
Thanks!! So glad to hear it...

Thank you for providing such a simple easy to follow intro
You're welcome!
Man all this time i had a mk3 and never tried to Learn it cuz i use another DAW but this plus gonna make me learn it again after watching this i think i might enjoy more than just the drums i didn’t even know you can do scales smh thank you appreciate the help and effort
Super helpful video, this is better than the official tutorial imo
So always LOVE your tutorials Jef that I find myself revisiting them all the time. Maschine MK3 is indeed the best.. reminds me of my old Alesis HR-16 & MMT-8 days but throwing in so much more. The Ultimate producer's programming dream machine making one creative again without getting lost in their DAW solely.
Thank you for highlighting the most important aspects of getting started. Not many tutorials like this one !
Awesome tutorial, Thank You
really Helpful! please more Tutorial Videos with Machine MK3 and maybe producing a complete Track Step by Step. Thanks
This is the tutorial ive been looking for
Sir Jeff thank you so much for your professionalism for your intuitive to show us the details that we need and helping us save time thank you so very much you're truly Danny B Funman
