@@jefgibbons I am doing the same! I am actually teaching studio lighting online. I'm sure you could imagine how fun that is. Thanks again for all you do. Your videos have literally single handedly taught me how to navigate my new Maschine!
Some people may not realize how hard it is to make interesting, non-boring demo videos. Jeff, you're a master. If all this was presented in a less compelling way, it would be harder to learn. But you make it a breeze. Thanks!
Hey Jef, thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I’m getting a lot out of them & they’re a joy to watch. I really dig your vibe my brother, as well as your musicality. This video is especially helpful because I discovered one of those audio module thingys a couple of weeks ago and I was like, “Hey, what’s with the waveform”? I decided to play around with it and ended up editing it and using it. Now that I’ve watched this I’ll better know what to do with them. Please continue making tuts on the not-so-obvious features of Maschine also. You can now add me to your subscribers list. Peace
The audio module is a revelation. I found out about it, very recently. NI has a great demo video from its product guy Boris; look for the version 2.7 demo, if interested.
To change the color just click "pad mode" and option over to the last screen. The option is right there. Whatever pad you hit is the one you'll be changing the color of.
Lets say you preview a kit and you like a specific melodies that you like. How would I load the group with all of the midi data? I swear it used to but I would always clear it and nake my own. Now that I would like to use some pre-existing ideas they dont load
Are Native instrument expansion packs worth getting if you don't use Maschine? I use battery in another DAW but want to make sure I am not missing out if I don't use Maschine.
Can you clarify... Do the Audio modules play loops automatically when you press play? (Like an Ableton audio clip?) I got that they didn't play when you hit the pad (until set to gate) but was confused as to why they were there. This is my first look at machine tutorials so im a total machine noob.
How do you make your sounds come through the video as stereo? This is becoming very frustrating! I’d love to post a instructional video but I don’t want to do it in mono.
Hey Sean! The stock stuff it comes with is fine, but it's the expansion packs that really help you find sounds that fit with your sound. I'm into the Lo-fi jazzy stuff myself and find most of my kits etc on expansions like Crate Cuts, Magnetic Coast, Faded Reels, Basement Era, Aquarius Earth, Prismatic Bliss and a few others. They have a great way of thinning out expansions by styles on their website.
@@jefgibbons thanks Jeff !!....Great videos by the way...it's true you can't judge a book by it's cover...brother has great hip hop vibe...black frames and all !!!...LOL
Jef, great vid, but too much frustrating information for an absolute newbie, leaving me finally NOT to buy this beautiful piece of technic. No way. Better stay with old school linear composing technique such as cubase or similar DAWs.
Hey Peter, I hear you! It takes a while to get your head around Maschine... I was frustrated at first too! When I was editing this video, I decided to take out a lot of the "training" aspects so it wasn't too long, but I see that I went too fast for beginners. I know you've watched the basics video, and that's a better place to start. This video was more of an answer to those that bought Opaline Drift and couldn't figure out why some pads weren't making sounds. Keep me posted on your progress if you do go for Cubase though. Maschine for me is all about the pads, and the hands-on editing. Once you get into it, it's more fun than I've had in years (music wise!)
@@jefgibbons thx Jef. I have 6y of Cubase experience then paused for another 4y only to return now in 2019. So I give every new idea to produce music a good intensive look, which nowadays with youtube is so easy and try to figure out what is going on today (not relying on what my big music shop has on offer). I know you are successful with what you do and honestly I envy your "understanding" of this bloody piece of (great) hardware :-)
This pack scares the living crap out of me. Makes me fear that all future expansions are gonna see half the pads being loops/construction kits. NI have decided to cheat with loops lately because the expansions now exist outside of maschine and non maschine users can’t access the grooves or programmed melodies unless they’re loops. So maschine users have to lose out now so everyone else using other software can benefit from the loops. Paid premium for maschine and now getting watered down expansions that don’t utilize the functions of this brilliant software. Audio modules suck. You can’t even chop and rearrange the content. They’re only there to make sense of NI intention to incorporate as much loop action as possible. We don’t want construction kits we want playable pads! Don’t care about premade musical or rhythmic loops. Don’t sell the product unless the whole thing was made on maschine and can be deconstructed and reprogrammed
whole thing looks so clunky and awkward - samples dont sound good either... thanks for helping me decide not to buy this lol definitely not my thing. great video though, thanks!

never knew that you could filter down to an expansion pack when searching in Massive.. what a time saver and you are a great teacher.
Wow... in 13 minutes, this was more useful on working with NI expansion packs, inside of Maschine, than anything else I have seen. Thanks Jeff!
Thanks Rainier Pom! I enjoyed making that vid…

Hi Jeff, your videos have been very helpful. Please consider doing a finger drumming video.
Right off the bat, thx for the tip on the case! Gotta have that. Looks awesome, was the first thing I noticed.

Excellent! Many thanks!
Hi Jef, Very helpful and informative videos! May I ask what expansion packs you have added to your Maschine? Kevin/Nashville.
This Jeff guy is awesome ....
Thanks for your support in the comments here and on the other vids Klayton, appreciate it!!
Does a lot of this kinda work for the mikro
Thank you Jeff I was wondering how do you access any midi files from the expansion packs and use them with different instruments
Lets say you preview a kit and you like a specific melodies that you like. How would I load the group with all of the midi data? I swear it used to but I would always clear it and nake my own. Now that I would like to use some pre-existing ideas they dont load
Great vid man. I'm trying to figure out how I can grab the kicks, or snares only from any expansion.
Hi bro Can we change the tones of sounds in Expansions? bass and synthesizer ?? Not the tone I want in the Expansion Packs
thanks!
Great job Jeff my question is if I can do that the same changing audio modules using Mirko mk3?
I don’t have a mikro, we’re you able to give it a try?
Thanks for answer me, I tried last night after I saw your video and the mikro look different I’m going to tried again right now and I let you know .

Hey Jef, can you do multiple slices with multiple samples in one group?? Or do you use different pad banks??
+Reggie Taylor definitely you could! If there aren’t many for each sample that would be a good way to do it...

how the eff would one do this on the Mikro, without all those screens! I was thinking of buying Opaline Drift but not sure now :/
Yeah, all in the software! Which is sometimes easier!

What’s the point of the audio module if it doesn’t do anything when loaded. Excuse the ignorance I just got mine ! Thanks Jef!
It plays loops when you hit the play button. So you're not triggering a sound, but when you press play on Maschine, it runs it.
hi jeff great videos, you are a great teacher ! I tag you if i ll make dope beats one day
I say Opa-line drift. I quite fancy making one of those cases.
Bravo
Can the Native Instrument's expansion pack and NI's plugin instruments be loaded in and played on the AKAI MPC ?
Don’t forget to put all the virtual instruments in the same key everyone.
You should get a personalized license plate that reads: ONEFJEF
I just saw a JEF ### license plate the other day... was very jealous!
