This is a big one! All about the sampling and slicing in Maschine for the beginner.
This tutorial is using Maschine 2.8 on the Maschine MK3
Everything here would apply to the Maschine Mikro, but you’d be using software instead of the hardware knobs etc.
Go to www.gibbonscreative.ca to contact me or see what I do.
Go to www.artswooddesigns.ca to order a custom built case for you Maschine!
I understood that wholeheartedly. Great at teaching. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out sampling. I'm glad I came across your videos
I may have forgotten to comment on this video but this is absolutely the BEST Maschine sampling tutorial I've seen, period. Period. I've seen a lot of them. Jef, PLEASE make a ton more videos on Maschine and anything else.. you've definitely gained a new subscriber. Brilliant work. Never boring, informative, and great explanation and you truly go over EVERYTHING. Thanks!!!
The kind of teacher i would have loved to have in school..the fact that your videos don’t get any thumbs down says loads about your teaching style and quality of your videos, you simply rock dude!
factz bruh not everybody has that gift
I never comment but It would be a crime not to. This is THE BEST Maschine tutorial I have ever seen. Thank You!! Native Instruments owes you big time.
The best UA-cam tutorial on Maschine I've seen. Clear and concise with attention to details. Thank you
Appreciate it!!
What software are you using here?
I’ve watched a load of Maschine MK3 videos, and I find yours to be the most straightforward and easiest to follow! Excellent work.
This is the best Maschine tutorial ever.
The MK3 has to be my favorite piece of gear. I just love the look and feel of it.
I agree, it's just fun to work with!
Fantastic tutorial! You explain everything so clearly and give great visual examples. Thank you!
Dude, hands down, you make the best instructional videos I've ever come across in the past 5 years of studying equipment and software functionality on UA-cam. You really have a knack for explaining things you're doing along with your video edits... The way you vocally reiterate certain moves you're making that you've taught earlier in the video or previous videos without being redundant. I love it. I really walk away from your videos feeling absorbed. 👍🏼 So sick. My Maschine hasn't even arrived in the mail yet and I already know for a fact you took the learning curve out of my way. 💪🏼 Keep em' coming! Appreciate you! 🙏🏼
Thanks Jef I've been looking for that mono switch for the past 3 days so frustrating but now I'm ready to go
Jeff you are a wonderful teacher and I cannot tell you enough how much I appreciate this series. Sampling is the reason I got my mk3 and you've made getting started tremendously easier. Thank you for helping me keep my excitement getting started with this maschine rather than spending the whole first day confused.
Big props to you for this! I have the MK3 and was struggling with sampling. You gave up a ton of useful and applicable info to work with. I appreciate you!!
Man this video is the best ever. I've been searching for a tutorial that I can learn to sample and chop in MK3. This is perfect... Great job!!!
Excellent!!!! Thank you for the help! I'm 5 months in with Maschine now and I'm already pretty familiar with the sampler but you showed me some more tipe and have opened up a bunch of new ideas for me.
Jeff your Mk3 Tutorial Videos are so easy to follow and understand, you don't rush through them and I just want to say thank you for these. Keep em' coming!
Thanks for the comment! I have more in the works, coming soon!
By far the best tutorial on MK3 sampling I've seen till now. Thanks Jef (subbed, ofc)
have you looked at Blezz beats? i think that is the name. Dude is funny and explains things in a funny way but delivers. IMO
@@whendoesthisend Thanks Fred, I'll check him for sure
pZ Beats Jeff is very clear. Awesome vid
Word
@@whendoesthisend yeah Blezz is a beast aaaaaand funny as hell. He knows his stuff too
Piling on to say you have become my favorite Maschine instructor on here. I don’t even need to watch the basics anymore but here I am.
just upgrade from the maschine mk1 to the mk3... worth every last penny! this thing does so much amazing stuff and your videos are the best tutorials for the equipment on UA-cam and I know because I've watched a LOT of them. thanks and keep em coming!!
What you said at the end was so true. The Maschine sampler can be intimidating at first, but once you take the time to sort of acquaint yourself it opens up a lot of different possibilities
Wow! You are an incredible instructor! Many thanks for this tutorial. Im working on a BIG project and this is exactly what I needed! Peace, Matthew
You're the Goat! Easy to understand, nice commentary, no extra blabla straight to the point. Well done!
Specialy the part at the end I totaly agree. It also brings me, as a traditional DAW user, a lot of fun and it realy was the missing part for a long time. Thank you for the clear and helpfull tutorial.
Thanks for the comment!
I finally realized after all these years that Maschine is so much more than a beat maker. Mine is on the way in the mail. This is one of the better videos I’ve seen showing how powerful it is. The lock and morph functions really got me sold on it but the sampler functionality looks amazing as well. Thank you for the quality content.
Legendary. Been fumbling on my maschine mk3 for a year and still got more than a couple tips from this video.
Jeff, thanks so much for the great Maschine tutorials. I've been really struggling since most tutorials i've found were done before major updates to the Maschine software. Yours have been the most helpful and i've learned a ton!
Glad to hear it Douglas!
Thank you so much for this because I now have full confidence about what I am doing. I will be watching more of your tutorials!
Excellent videos Jef. You are a great teacher and make it all easy to understand.
I enjoyed your tutorials Jef. My Maschine arrives tomorrow! You got me really excited to get started sketching ideas.
howd it go?
@@thabeachmaster324 I love it! Also picked up a KK S61 about a month later. I've been loving Output's libraries as well as NI Komplete 12 Ultimate. There's really no limit to what can be produced. As primarily a guitarist, this has really opened up so many creative doors.
Wow! I am so thankful for your great tutorials. Just got my Mk3 and needed a nice jump start. Thanks!
I just want to say thank you .I look at a lot of videos and don't understand but yours i understand so well and they have gotten me so far ahead in my production thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got a Maschine in the mail last week. Your videos are a tremendous help. Thank you!

Total novice, just bought a mk3 and came across your brief theory vid and now onto this. Very detailed, straight to the point and logical. Will be watching more. Cheers!
You are hands down the best maschine teacher out there. No contest.
Had been looking at other sequencers until I watched your Maschine series Jef (have owned the mk3 a while now but never used it properly). Really excellent set of tutorials - thank you. Looking forward to integrating it with my Elektron units and Presonus mixer.
As a new MK3 owner, thanks! 👍🏻 Love that you can Refine Start/End on next page while using Detect Mode.
Thank you man! 🙏 I took this afternoon to go completely through this video. I learned a crazy amount!!
Best Maschine teacher on the net. I have severely benefited from these videos, your teaching style is perfect for me. Thank you for taking the time to make this.

Hi Jef! I just bought my Maschine Mk3 and I am learning a lot from your videos! Great job you are doing! thank you! :)
+WavebeatsMusic - Royalty Free Music perfect! Have fun with it!
I can't believe the synchronicity I am experiencing on this journey. This channel and its tutorials are perfect timing, as I am getting my MK3 this Thursday.
+James Biggins thanks James! That’s great to hear, have fun with it man!
Thanks for another great mk3 tutorial Jef. You are a very clear teacher, which I think is rare for us creatives.
I watched this a couple times. Once to get an overview and then other times to go through the sections piece by piece as time allows.
I can agree working on Maschine after composing on a DAW for years felt a little awkward at first. But I am also having more fun with music now than I have had in years. My work flow has changed and I have a new perspective on producing.
Plus... when I'm out and about in regular life, everything seems to become a sample sound I want to record and edit. Rusty carts, home appliances and small babies are all fair game once again.
So great to hear Dan, and my thoughts exactly!! Maschine is the most fun I’ve ever had in music making.
Your videos are awesome. Thanks so much for breaking down Maschine like you do. Very much appreciated.
Thank you Jef for your super short and very informativ "The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Sampling!" tutorial.

These tutorials are incredibly helpful. I owe you several beers for the brain ache you’ve saved me. Thanks a million. 👊😀
It's absolutely brilliant. Good teaching.
Man! You've just helped me out Big Time! Long-time MPC 2000XL user here. I needed this video. LOL
Right on! Glad it helped...
The instructions are really good. Thank You. I'm a beginner and this helps me.. I'm not a beginner dj though. I want to buy this and make beats for my new gigs.
Fantastic guide, so many excellent practical tips and clear explanations!
Very helpful. Your Maschine videos are great.
Love all your videos! You made me want a maschine and it’s now on order 😊
I just applied 90 slices of the Amen via single mode to five groups. Ready for my lifetime achievement award.
One thing for those who might be wondering: if you apply your slices to a group directly - without hitting Button 5/Single - then only the first 16 slices are exported. Not good in this case. If you have more slices, you have to 'apply' them all via single mode to different groups. Of course, each group can only have 16 sounds. Alternatively, you could pre-remove all but the 16 sounds you want; if you only want that many.
I had barely used my MK3 because it's just so overwhelming but these tutorials are nothing short of amazing. Thank you!
Thats great to hear, thanks!
Fantastic tutorial videos Jef, you're a life saver!
Really enjoying these videos..once again..keep arriving back here Jeff...way much more fun once you have nailed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🇬🇧
Finally found a video that explained what I needed to know within the first 1:25...Thank you!
Thaaaanks so much. Seriously your information about Midi Informationen for every single pad, was awesome always wanted to do that but didn't know how... Thanks for your work
Really great instructional piece, again. Thanks! 😊
Thank you Jef for this great tutorial video. I learned a lot.
This is what I like to call an "Tutorial" - thank YOU ! . . . . from COLOGNE
Thanks a lot for explanation, I was looking for a deep tutorial like this one.
This is so clearly communicated, thank you so much
Excellent. Many thanks for doing this.
This video is saved in my bookmarks because it's a great refresher & you're awesome!
Glad to hear it Michael!
Thanks a lot ! This sent me to a new world !
Another great tutorial. Right now I have a Maschine Mikro, but watching this makes me want to upgrade to its big brother.
Thanks! Yeah, the screens are nice!
@@jefgibbons That's what I'm thinking! Less interaction with the computer, and more hands on the Maschine.
Thanks so much for doing these videos, this has helped me a lot!
I love this guy! He is so thorough and has helped me so much. Thank you.
Appreciate it!! So glad it helped…
@@jefgibbons No thank you, I've watched a few of your vids and always refer back if I get stuck or forget something. 🙏🏽
saved my day thx for nice and clear tut
I’m glad this is here. I have something to revert back to!
+Anthony Brown yeah! That’s the idea... thanks for commenting!
Hey Jef, I'm a newcomer here. I have sworn to Ableton Live and Push, but got a good deal on Maschine a few months ago. It's always good to not restrict yourself too much, although I do actually find that limitations often help the creative process (not that Push is limiting!). I digress. Just wanted to say I really enjoy your vids for learning the Maschine, which I find less intuitive than Push, but still a nice piece of equipment. Keep them coming, truly inspiring for your talent and you're a really good teacher. Thanks! There is one thing that keeps me from using the Maschine more actively, and that is the problem Maschine has by clipping and slowing down way too early in the process, which stops the creative flow. I end up just exporting the clips to Ableton and take it from there. I would like to see your take on this.
awesome jeff.....just AWESOME, Love it!!!
Thank you Jeff for the tutorial
