- Imposter Syndrome is a misnomer morphed from Imposter Phenomenon coined my sociologists to describe high achieving marginalized people who maneuver in spaces outside of their comfort zone. However, when continuing to excel when frightened, insecure, or even feeling fraudulent, is really a sign of courage and bravery. Catherine is a Community Health and Family Medicine physician who has spent over 20 years serving the medically underserved. She founded Health Wellness and Weight Loss Centers, LLC to fill the gap between the ill-care model of healthcare delivery and the well-care model that it should be. She is a health and wellness coach and weight loss consultant. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. It's Because PRAISE BELONGS TO GOD. I'm just talented because there is sb who gave me this talent, and i need to honor him. We see this people of talent create things and observe their contribution and applaud them for their competence. And they are a creation and a Gift to us from God. He gifted them with talent. We are a receptacle, and he is a giver. what do we have? The exaltation which is due to him.

ALX cohort 13. Such an interesting explanation of imposter syndrome
This is powerful. Reframing your thoughts is a tool we all need. You are not an imposter, you are BRAVE.
The scientists who studied Imposter Syndrome might have secretly thought they were bad scientists.
That is exactly how imposter phenomenon came about.
Best tedx talk ever this sank right into me I really am enlightened and elevated
Thank you!
Wow is all I have to say. That’s a lie, I also want to say thank you for exercising the bravery to make and share this!
This was ON POINT Dr. Toomer. Thank you for this insight.
Excellent talk and honest perspective on the 'mislabeling' of imposter syndrome
This is an important perspective. We have to be careful in pathologizing natural phenomenon
Wow! Powerful! What you say to yourself truly matters :)
I love this reframing of our insecurities. SO helpful. Thank you Dr. Toomer!
Excellent talk! This changed my view on imposter syndrome. Thank you!
Wonderful insights, woven together with personal stories and critical analysis of systemic barriers. Thank you!
What an outstanding talk that we can all benefit from! Thank you!
This was informative, incredibly helpful and brought healing through understanding and acceptance of the imposter phenomenon - thank you!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment.
Between the 5 videos I've watched on imposter syndrome, she puts it to the point. So grounded. Self love and positive self talk can shift mountains
Thank you!
Thank you. Self compassion is important when things are tough. I need this 🙏🏻💗
Excellent! Thank you so much for this re-framing of our thoughts motivation.
Execellent work to Alx to reveal such information we tend to ignore.
This motivated me and Same time made me Sad. Because my Dad was like my SuperMan and Loosing him at Age 15 was so painful because My Cheerleader was gone and all our plans for my future were gone. I lived in self doubt because I only get that dad voice of.. 'I am proud of you " it took me time to internalise those words and tell me that to my self. It was hard but I am glad Of my Progress, even though it seem so slow but I am glad to be moving.. 😅. and I am sure my Dad is proud of Her 28 yr old little Baby girl from Heaven❤️
Well done!
God bless you ma for this.
just wow....thanks ma'am. this was enlightening indeed.
I can relate to this, a feeling doesn't make one a fraud.
Wow. Never have I heared someone talking about a healthy child-parent relationship like this before and neither do I know someone who experienced one. That's rare. Lucky you. I am happy for you and I mean it.
Thank you
You have said well!
Thank you for explaining this. I now understand what imposter syndrome is and how I don't have an imposter syndrome. Never believed I had one anyway.
✨🙏🏾✨
Thank you for the mindset shift Dr. Toomer.

Execellent work to Alx to reveal such information we tend to ignore.

I needed this. Thank you, Doctor and TEDx.
Wow, so amazing, Thank you Ma.
Thankyou for stopping myself from going down a negative rabbit hole and instead reframing the thoughts of doubt I have as being normal ❤
I will practice
Practice telling yourself, no matter what others think of you, what you think about yourself matters the most
Reframe your thoughts to celebrate who you really are,
Strong, Courageous, and Brave.
Thank you so much Dr. Toomer
You're welcome 😊 Thank you for listening

Wow. Thank you so much for this. I so much appreciate it.
Great job! Very informative
Really great! It just reinforces to me, the value of good parents. My father was as opposite to yours as is possible. Your dad sounds absolutely wonderful and you are the fabulous result.
He became the parent he wished he had. Ultimately, we become what we make of oursleves.
