I had to explain this to my father. In the original timeline Forester died in 8 years and all that stuff happened but because the people went back in time and he signed up he most likely changed the future for him and Marie. That isn't his preset death. Why would they go back in time if they didn't know they change the future.

@@eddiegreencheez the reason why people use RT is because it compiled a bunch of critics reviews and create a percentage out of it. It takes critics reviews from a lot of websites. So, it’s not really just a one critics but multiple.
The thing is… who cares about critics. The audience reviews are way more accurate than the critics anyways. Because these movies are made for the general audience not for critics specifically.

The scene where Nora and the other guy sacrifice themselves to hold the aliens back is the scene that got me. I think the movie did a good job at you connecting with characters. Because knowing that they were just regular people that had no training or experience but tried their best to do what they could to save people was really kinda heart warming. There are a ton of “issues” with it yes. But it was definitely a fun ride of an action movie! It was exactly what I wanted it to be and was expecting!

Him losing his temper in the beginning and hitting the trash can was to show that even though he puts on a happy goofy face on the outside that deep inside he was very disappointed and angry with his life. And you know those things can really get in the way even when you have a loving family right in front of you. His experience with his future daughter and now saving the world from the white spikes definitely changed his outlook on his life and now he knows the importance of his family more than anything else.

I love your reactions, and I also enjoyed the movie greatly for what it is, a classic scifi action movie with the crazy plot holes and silly dialogue and all. However, I do feel you guys missed one big detail regarding why Dan's character would abandon his family in the original timeline and his dialogue at the end, I think they established in the beginning that he was not happy with how his life was going, he was working as a HS Biology teacher but he was interviewing for a lab research position and got passed over for it. They clearly show how upset he was about that and it's easy to see how he could eventually grow more and more biter about his life and end up lashing out at his wife, and the fact he eventually dies in a car accident made me think he might have actually turned to drinking as well.

When Yvonne says she has to send Chris back to prevent the war, and he Protests he cannot leave Yvonne here in the future to die. I was scratching my head too.

Once she dies he completely drops the entire idea of going back to save the future and seems to understand that killing the aliens now saves/changes the future. It was just a gut reaction of "I'm gonna save you because I love you" even though he probably knew he couldn't

Yeah, I guess it could've been made clearer that the future they entered was no longer their own future. The future version of his daughter had lived life normally until the aliens first started attacking. Dan's own timeline was basically discovering that there would be a war 7 years prior to the how the original events would play out. So the future version of Dan that died 7 years into the future never had a tomorrow war, he basically remained a school teacher until he gave up on his family and then who knows, eventually he just died. We saw just a tiny glimpse of that aspect of his depression when he was nearly crying with his daughter in the beginning. You can just imagine that eating away at his good nature until he was just unrecognizable. I'm sure his never making peace with his father in that version of events might've played into it.

In the street scene I thought it was awesome to see one of the male aliens take command of the group and bark out orders to go after the humans. It makes the aliens feel like they are not willing to just rush in and die, they have strategy to take the armed humans out. And it was great that they did not do the usual trope where the lead human figures it out and kills the lead alien to cause the other aliens to disperse or some shit. The scene just gave the aliens more nuance and personality.

I beilieve that this story is probably like Future Trunks timeline from dragonball Z. It's a split-timeline alternate dimension future. Whatever happens there, already happened and will be as such. They are trying to do the good thing of changing some other timeline's past. Kind of like Loki with the sacred timeline. They wanna create a nexus event and create a whole new timeline for whoever they can. Possibly, their final mission from their future time is to send as many not-yet-born future people, and leave for dead the people who cannot travel back. It wasn't really about winning the future war, but ensuring survival of humanity.

People always think about diverging timelines, but our sanity models prevent us from really considering convergent timeline implications. No matter how few instances you think engender splitting timelines, no matter how thin you believe a moment in time is, and no matter how many dimensions you think things work in, it's a fast thing that divergent timelines run out of room and fill all the available space. Given the rate of divergence, the speed of light actually sets the pace of convergence, given that it's the expansion constant in this era. The timeline of any implausible past future will be absorbed and integrated somehow, probably as the new timeline approaches that future. But it might also be absorbed by other timelines, integrated there instead. The information will be retained, somehow. The multiverse is likely all right here around us, folded simultaneously into the single microcosm of the individual and unfolded into the whole of every possible cosmos.
Timelines divide and come together all the time. We're just wired not to notice the shifting histories, generally pass it off as failing, shifting memories. (There was a synonym for "cot" when I was very young, that started with a "K" or an "H", but just disappeared when I was about five. I couldn't remember it, and my parents didn't remember the time they taught me. I've wondered about that ever since. There are lots of instances I wonder about since.)

I enjoyed it too man! But I had the same thoughts about the time travel.
They admit their war is futile, yet put the focus on recruitment for that futile war lol, when the focus should've been primarily on building teams to research the origin..
Even with the time travelling limitations, researching the invasions origin is still possible, so should've been the focus before recruitment lol..
but yea, they eventually get there so.. ehhh 🤷‍♂️

You can't research something you only have partial information on. They assumed the spikes landed and took over, and they stated that they searched but never found the ship. It never occured to them that the spikes could have been on the planet the whole time buried in ice from what was apparently centuries before.

@@joshuagiehll3737 but researching something you have partial information on is the whole point in research lol..
It's definitely something the future people could've put more time into before recruiting thousands of civilians each week to buy them a little more time in a war they deem futile.
I mean they found the crash site with the help of a random Volcano enthusiast in a very short time.. had the future people had the same thought process, the origin would've been found wayyyy earlier lol..
I still enjoyed it, but that is one of the main things you can't ignore, when the main concept of the story is time travel😅
