    I have this exact setup: baratza 270wi and ascaso dream pid; yet I'm struggling to get good espresso; across bean brands and qualities, although the most gourmet ones give the worst results. The coffee often flows super fast, in many cases without reaching a sufficient pressure, even if I set the grinder on the finest setting (I've already inserted one of the 2 shims that came with the grinder). My previous machine, a cheap Delonghi Dedica, I was able to choke with the fine grind settings of the Baratza grinder, but here I get a fast, watery shot, only close to decent in the very best cases. Whenever I do get a relatively slower shot (still very far from the famous 30 seconds for a 2:1 ratio), it then is super strong, because I had to pack a lot of beans, ground very fine. On the good beans I detect more aromas when it's not ground that fine, but then it's a touch of aroma in a very watery drink. I've tried using both the 14g basket (with 16-17g typically, sometimes 18 but it tends to overflow before tamping, at that point) and the 7g one (with 10-11g typically). Surprisingly the flow is a bit better controlled with the smaller basket, though obviously it gets to a watery flow even faster. I'm not sure what to try anymore... I don't have a bottomless portafilter to experiment with, as the brand charges nearly 200 bucks for that. Would welcome any ideas!
    Note for potential future buyers: I was disappointed on the Ascaso, that the vibrations make the water tank move on its own during brewing, depending on the quantity of water currently in it. Below 3/4 full, it starts moving and you have to close it afterwards if you don't want the water to be exposed to open air. I sent it for warranty and it came back the same. In this price range I find that really disappointing.

    Does the Ascaso Dream Zero use also 9 bars? Would it be possible to add the OPV?

    May I know the way to the setting of the volume of water comes out by pulling the button? As I cannot find this setting from the pid system. But there is only 20g water comes out which is not enough for the double shot to me.
    Thank you!

      As far as I can se in the documentation, you can maintain the "1coffe" or "2 coffe" command and release it when the quantity is good to your taste. The new quantity is saved automaticaly.

    Isn´t 96 C a little too high temperature for espresso? Have you tried to measure real group temperature at your PID setting? It would be very nice if your review contained such measurement and measurement of thermal stability as well.

    Can you heat up the steam and the espresso at the same time? so you won't have to wait 1 minute after brewing your espresso to froth the milk!! 2nd question is that do you have to wait for the espresso brewer to heat up again after switching from steam/water?

      @@purinscoffee I assumed, But I was really considering to upgrade my machine from the Breville barista express to the Asasco dream PID. now after watching and reading some reviews I've noticed that the transition won't necessarily be an upgrade but at some point could be a downgrade too! breville's thermocoil acts a lot quicker than the Asasco's Thermoblock and the machine is half the price.

      Oh hey, i also thinking to upgrade from a cheap espresso machine to a good entry level ones. I also consider breville barista express.
      Based on your experience, what are the downsides?

    • @sepehrasadizadeh9369

      @@purinscoffee it’s the best for the price. I’ve had the Breville Barista Express for 2 years now I’m so happy with it.
      Programmable shot size
      Manual pre-infusion
      60 ounces water tank
      It quickly warms up
      Adjustable grinder (10 grades)
      Down side is being single boiler (but it’s very quick) tip is to froth your milk first before brewing your espresso (frothed milk last good for 45 seconds)
      The other downside could be the grinder if you decide to get the one with the grinder and you have other brewing devices (i.e mocha pot stove top or drip ) since it gives you limited amount of ground coffee.
      If that’s the case you can invest on the one W/O grinder and get a separate grinder

    The bottom tray needs to be re-thought. No reason that can’t easily be changed to a pull-out arrangement, one that incidentally would hold more liquid.

      The Steel UNO is the one you'd choose for an office break room - the extra 600ml of water and the wipe-down box-shaped chrome exterior are both suited to environments where freakin' animals make themselves a coffee, fling grounds and milk everywhere, and then just walk off... Why did you not clean up the steam wand? Also you did not clean the Portafilter as well.? I suppose that it would not matter except that someone new to espresso might not know that you can damage the machine by not following good cleaning habits. Sorry for the rant -

      This video is not about teaching us how to make espresso and milk properly.
      Besides, anyone buying this type of machine, and specially in this price class, better know what they do before they get one if they are new to espresso…
      If they are ignorant and/or lazy to educate them selves or execute cleaning habits, then its all on themselves lol

    Not to go after this particular brand at all, but doesn’t being “made in Spain, so built well” - is that a natural connection? For example just because something is made in the US, Germany, Korea, china, or Brazil, it doesn’t automatically equate to quality workmanship. It depends on the individuals who put their hands on it and the standards of the company, not the country.

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  2 роки тому

      True. However, many of our customers are looking for machines that are made in Europe or North America instead of China. Usually because parts are available for repair and the machines are servicable. Most from China are harder to service. That is a bit of a generalization we realize as there is good and bad from everywhere.

    • @krayzai
      @krayzai 2 роки тому

      @@ecscoffeeinc I would say that repair parts availability is more of a willingness to produce and make available replacement parts, then a supply-side and distribution issue, underpinned by the company’s commitment to after-sales service. But parts availability and geographic distribution has a lot to do with overall saturation and partnerships with retailers and those given exclusivity or servicing rights (usually the best model within tighter geographic areas that allow for 7-10 day processing).
      I still don’t feel like this is an adequate explanation for the A = B (Made in Spain = So built well), as the reply addresses servicing and not initial build quality. I would think that most consumer todays are more sophisticated purchasers than twenty years ago. There’s a reason why I would buy anything requiring precision cutting from a country that has years more experience with CNC machines and a labour force backing it than one that has grown expensive and tired over years of glut and unionisation that values stability over innovation. Just saying. Like if you made specific comments about the specific OEM contracted to manufacture the product in Spain, and some comments about the way the company is managed and quality control oversight is done, it’d be understandable. But thé Spain = quality blanket statement is a tad bit lazy. Sometimes perceived ignorance is not real and not intentional, but impressions do matter.

    • @yoeelfreak
      @yoeelfreak Рік тому

      @@krayzai I mean, you have a good point. Been to Spain, totally get the unionization crap. Still, this is the UA-cam comments and they trying to sell a machine. Vote with your wallet. By the way, things made in Spain overall are way better thank Chinese.
