Justin is a very good teacher. My classical guitar teacher told be the same advise 20 years ago. First learn a song slowly and right before playing it up to the correct speed.

Justin...I cant say thank you enough for doing this song. Cat Stevens was my dad favorite artist. He had Cat playing in the house all the time I was growing up. My dad passed away a few months ago, so this has brought back so many memories.

when I get your vids, i automaticly go make a pot of coffee while it loadin cause i know your going so show a alternate way 2 play a chord involvin thumb base , which i cant do cause of sergery. the pot of coffee gets me through the lesson good enough that ppl know what im playin.usually takes me a week to add all the little things that listeners dont miss but i know its missin. thank you Justin for ....... Glad I found this. There are countless video "tutorials" on this YooToob in which the chords are almost right yet still WRONG. You play them correctly and then illustrate different ways to do it correctly. Subscribed!

I remember when I first saw those videos and thought they were awesome! I remember I had a lot of questions. I followed you. Now, I look at this lesson and I don't even need your explanation when you tell the chords, the beat etc. Why? Because you're an awesome teacher who have learned me everything I can! FOR FREE!! God imagine if your type of human was the major type, we'd all be living in a better place!! I'm so grateful! I got so much more to learn, so I'll still follow you ;)
Dude you are the best I hope you got my donation. I have a teacher every week but he gets so frustrated at me it makes no longer fun and I think I should give it up, I feel like a stupid ass. He is a amazing guitar player so my dumb ass is making him crazy. He's also showing me all this stuff in tablatures very confusing.. anyway I watch your videos and I feel better. This is getting ridiculous, I dont know how many songs i've learned to play just by watching your videos thus far...
A few months ago I couldent play any instrument at all, and now that I got going with the beginner steps I really got hooked.
In a world, where sort of everything has a monetary price I think it's really nice to find so many great, well made and approachable free of charge tutorials from people like yourself, who seem to want to give that gift to people if possible by uploading this fantastic material to streaming services.

Yes as Justin says, slowly is important, (until you have learnt it) make sure last practice is slowest, without mistakes and it will remain with you.

So glad I watched this vid of yours again Justin. I've been playing the main 'scale' riff like you in the first few frets. My tutor (not really tutor he is 70 year old lead of our band) started telling me it was further up the neck on the 1,2 and 3 strings said "that's how I hear it". Now I'd better explain that I'm early/mid intermediate but I know same stuff can be played up and down the neck simply in a higher or lower octave, but its reassuring to see you playing this riff in same place I was. I suppose my Question is that it must be common for folks to disagree about exactly where a riff/lick should be played??....xx luv ya!!
