As a Coloradoan, I can assure you 'your comments' about the fee increase is a waste of time. The way Colorado works is to make a decision, then ask for input, and then totally ignore it. The People's Republic of Colorado doesn't care about citizen's opinion.

Colorado state has no jurisdiction over the national park.

@@RVMiles Correct. You said 'national' my brain said 'state'. I blame it on age.😃I'm not sure my statement doesn't apply to the federal level as well.

It’s so sad that the parks are making camping outrageously expensive. Instead of making things more luxurious. They should keep to the essence of the place and the basics. You go for the experience and great outdoors.

The person responsible for damaging the salt tram was tracked down by the off-road community, and his info has been forwarded to the NPS. He has since contacted the NPS and admitted to the wrongdoing, and the NPS did do a press release regarding the situation.

Thank you for telling all this news Jason! Hopefully it’s the body of the missing gentlemen. Hopefully they’ll find his dog. Thank you for the news of the grizzly bears moving to Washington. And the other news.

I live in the mountains of Washington state. When I first moved out here nearly 27 years ago, the internet was just getting started.a few years after getting settled, I searched through NPS records about bears, because I had run into a few, and was curious. One was very large, and very brown. I was told by the park service that what I saw was a 'cinnamon' black bear. I thought it was just too big and too brown, and the face was too round. Hence my search.
Back then, there were a lot of public records available, posted on state government sites, pertaining to fish and wildlife in this state. Including NPS records. I searched, and found records that NPS had already 're-introduced' grizzlies back into Washington state, over 30 years earlier. And not long after that, wolves.
15 years ago, I saw another large brown bear, and looked for those same records. Thinking I should save them, this time. Could not, for the life of me find any such records any more. They have purged them from public records.

What a way to go. Eaten by a grizzly while camping in the wilderness! Adds an element of excitement to the experience. I hope they get established. I just saw the condors in Pinnacles NP. I remember when they began reintroducing them in the 1960’s

Jason, I said it before, but it is so refreshing to view these podcasts. There are still true journalists out there.

Prices going up everywhere. So sad about the stadium. The memorial for the flight 93 passengers and crew is touching. Always great information.- Michelle

Dad used to pronounce it Suh-leen Valley, not sure which is correct. He grew up in Owen's Valley. Drove through Saline Valley back around 1989, so cool.

$45 for dry campsites at RMNP sounds steep. I never mind the extra charge for electric, but otherwise, this sets an alarming precedent for other NPS campgrounds.

Well if the grizzlies are relocated and someone dies is the organization that repopulated them get sued 🤔p.s. Hope no grizzlies attack 🙏

No, they are not ever held responsible. The sad truth about these large predators restoration. They are dangerous and those that wish to restore them are ok sacrificing a few people to restore these animals.

My thoughts exactly. But WHEN someone dies as a result they will be blamed for being in the bears habitat. B.S.

This is always my question because invariably, they will not allow any hunting/killing of the bears either. It creates a situation where someone may need to defend themselves but risk getting some insane fine if they do. Ask Canadians how that's going after they passed laws preventing bear hunting and the population has got out of hand in the north. 😅

Hey Jason, this just out. Traveling with dogs out of the country just got a lot harder. The CDC just released new rules effective 08/01/24 for bringing dogs back into the U.S. (some tough rules) All of us headed to Alaska are impacted by it. It might catch some folks off guard.

I read a book ‘Diary of a Mountain Man’ in the early 1990s. The man was in California near the Fairfield area when he heard loud screeching and growling. As he vested the hill where the sound was coming from he saw a cow being killed by a grizzly bear. Grizzlies were well scattered throughout California.

Really bad idea to reintroduce Grizzly to Washington. I don't care if they used to roam here, there were very few people here 150 years ago. It won't work no matter how hard they try.

The North Cascades region is adapting just fine to a lack of grizzlies. Best to leave it that way.

Really, British Columbia has enough close. I’m in favor of the bears, but leave them alone. It’s the public that causes most of their problems. Yellowstone is not a place for Mt bikes, hikers, & tent camping in the back country. If you are there without lethal protection you are fair game. I hate to hear they took down a bear because of a human
