Let's do a little serious analysis.
This Zoe (and lots of electric cars) has a limited speed, because electric motors ALSO have a maximum rotation speed. At 140 km/h, the electric motor turns at around 11,000 turns per minute, and would enter into a speed range in which it drastically loses performance.
To be able to reach more speed, you would need at least a two speed gearbox. Thus, with its virtually constant 110 hp, it would accelerate much better than a 110 hp petrol/diesel engine, and would easily reach more than 190 km/h.
But does it make SENSE? At that rate, a petrol engine in a car of similar power and size is well above 20 liters per 100 km. With an electric car, calculation is simple: if it has 78 kW of peak power, and you are going 190 km/h, then you are consuming 78 kWh every 190 km. A magnificent 41 kWh / 100 km of consumption, which drains your battery in approximately 1 hour, with 190 km of autonomy.
And for this absurd use we would demand a two-speed gearbox? It has no sense.
Well this energy loss applies to petrol engines as well and is the same absurd, but people don't care since the range is higher and refill rate is a lot faster. It makes no sense to travel at higher speeds at all but we're just too stupid to realise that.
Thisi is partially correct. On the other hand, this is a design choice and it is not true that above that speed they lose drastically performance (example Teslas 18-20000rpm). In traction motors, maximum speed is limited, with safety factors, by structural integrity of the rotor. The "electrical limit", where you have no power is higher: of course, can be lower but this is intentionally avoided because the power profile would be then not ideal for traction (kind-of-flat over a wide speed range).
In addition with electric motors there are a clear difference between peak and continuous power, and what is advertised is peak power for a short time (normally up to 60s).
Clearly on the Autobahn, people cruise at high speed for longer period (not just short burst), therefore what matters is to have (i) enough continuous power and to have that power (ii) at high rpm (there is no gearbox...). You can design a motor for 20000rpm that allows, theoretically to reach, let's say 250km/h but if you do not have enough continuous power you overheat after minutes, going in limp mode (example again: Tesla S/X pre Raven with 500-700HP...peak).
As a matter of fact, that Zoe, equipped with a wound-field synchronous motor, is rated for around 50kW 30min-continuous power ECE R85. If you take an equivalent size ICE car with comparable power you can see that max speed becomes more logic.

@@xanthuumnihyr5319 There is 3 lane, so trucks are on the right, you are in the middle while overtaking them and if you want to go faster, then you use left one. And mostly you go back to right line after all.

@@xanthuumnihyr5319 There is not a lot of free limit also. There is a lot of 3 lanes and two lanes it's very big network. So you have signs "keep right". I'm driving very frequently on autobahn. Go to Wikipedia and check the network. There is just few parts where you can drive without limit

You should see how he drives cars with a manual gearbox. Harsh gear changes and overall a lot of unnecessary aggressive driving. He definitely stands out from majority of German drivers that I've seen on my many visits to Germany, and he stands out in a really bad way.

I got a Zoe R135 with 145 km/h topspeed..i drive 98 on right lane..its perfectly fine. Chilled driving, ~2-3min difference in reaching your goal compared to driving 150 oder 160.. all the car drivers need to chill out more..agressive driving and fast driving equals higher deathcount ;)

@@RennieAsh Dangerous in overtake situations, when you need to quickly overtake some 2 or more trucks on a 2 line road - for example.
@@r129r16pfl You don't "need" to overtake two trucks in a row. You should know the capability of your car and not attempt to do such a thing if it would be unsafe.
Also, it's the acceleration that matters there, and not the maximum speed as for the most part you will not be finding 140km/h trucks on a regular two way road that are so close together that you cannot slot in between.
There are many cars that will accelerate just the same, but people manage to get by with those cars without accident :)

Its a commute relatively economical ev. Nothing more nothing less. You can drive a 300 hp bmw with 220 km/h on the A2, sure… but with my commute that means 12l of E95 every day. With the Zoe and 110 kmh its 6Euro. I also get commuting bonus 30 to 38Cents/km and from this year i can sell my CO2 emissions for 400€/year. I think its just the wrong car to be reviewed at a channel called „TOPSPEEDanything“.

Hmmm....this Zoe has close to no torque. It's a death trap for countries with speed limits of 130km/h. Can't even maintain that when going up a slight incline. Garbage. Also, 33k Euro before options is way too much to buy it as a City Car. Brand is Renault, not Mercedes, Audi or BMW. Can't justify 33k+ Euro for that. Maybe 15-20k tops brand new.

Power isn't the issue. It's a "future" modern electric car with a standard speed limiter (Begrenzer in German), which doesn't allow the car go faster than 135 real km/hr, showing as 140 in the display.
@@stevedravek How come it can't keep up 140km/h when going up a slight incline? It's just marketing BS. That 'Begrenzer' is just marketing. The vehicle can't even hold on to 140km/h. What is it going to do with no limit? Nothing! It's seriously underpowered. Perfect for countries with max. 100km/h speed limits. Countries that go beyond that, then this is a dangerous car!!!
