Joe’s ReSPECT journey - a ReSPECT explainer for people and their families

ReSPECT stands for Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment. The ReSPECT process creates a personalised recommendation for your clinical care in emergency situations where you are not able to make decisions or express your wishes.
ReSPECT plans are created through conversations between you and your health professionals or a legal welfare proxy /lasting power of attorney on your behalf. Your family members are often involved too.
These conversations aim to explore what matters most to you and to record clinical recommendations, such as whether or not CPR should be attempted in a future emergency.
