Is it right to also have a frank discussion about how a DNACPR is sometimes misinterpreted as implying a lower ceiling of treatment, therefore explaining why some may have an adverse response to the suggestion, as happened with my late father? The negative connotations with the LCP are a symptom of an appropriate tool executed sub-optimally, and whilst a DNACPR may be an entirely appropriate choice, the manner in which it is executed is as important as the decision itself. I hope we can manage the staff implementation of DNACPRs better, in order to avoid the same mistakes made with the LCP.

hmm, how about a person with profound disabiltiy who has neurological condition because of of their medical condition through life, who is a ward of the court? Then WHAT. DNR are a human response to suffering and irrational response to a body that can only fail. where is the Dignity in battering a body when comfort and support in end of Life is the Caring Approach.
