- TAFKAP, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince had many talents and a unique approach to music and live performances. He also worked with many groups and artists in the mid/late eighties, like Madhouse. This is one of my favorite tunes: Eight (Prince /w Eric Leeds on flute and saxophone).
Everyone who made it here for that tune is gifted with the love of jesus and prince.
Thank you for that and you don't even realize just how true what you said is too. From a week after Prince left the Lords let me see and speak to Prince no lie. And I found this here tonight because I'm on a mission for both the Lord and for Prince doing a video with and for both and was looking for something instrumental to use in my video lol interesting that you put things the way that you did. :)
@@tommtommkin lord have mercy. we gonna see your video?
@@schlonzschuppe4516 And this is what I made for Prince, most of the jewelry is what I made for him and the Lord too some day I will give it to both sorry I didn't give it to Prince before he left my mistake let me know what you think about both videos Peace :) .... ua-cam.com/video/pwmBvE7_Ij8/v-deo.html
One of the most beautiful songs of all time. Prince was a genius, and Eric Leeds was a fantastic flutist/saxophonist.
Otherworldy!
Keyboardists:
The synth pad at the end is Prophet VS patch 69, "FILMUSIC"
Took me 14 years and a trip to Paisley Park to find this out. Just spreading the info.
Miles Hartl how did you find out at Paisley?
andrewthemandrew It was during Celebration 2019, and I happened to be in the same room as the keyboard tech for The Revolution. You can get the “Filmusic” patch through the original Prophet VS synth, Arturia recreations (allegedly), and memory cards that Korg reissued in the early 90s. If you’re going the latter route, look for the old Korg WPC-14 “Analog and VS” chip.
Amazing man, thanks! The obscure transition to ‘U got the look’ makes this so worthwhile.
This is the most beautiful piece of music he wrote....... slightly beating sometimes it snows in April....... If the prince mega vault has this kind of material in it then......... (should it be released) we are in for a beautiful ride...... his instrumental stuff was amazing.......
+melbop Eric Leeds said in an interview that he played on 50-60 tunes from which 20-25 were released. I hope that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis get the chance to mine the Prince vault and work together with Eric Leeds (and others that were close to Prince) to get all the good music released.
fingers crossed :-) .... To be honest I want the good music and the bad stuff released...... because bad prince is still pretty good...... IMO .......Get off extended Japanese remix that had the Ethereal mix on it......... people said was too indulgent and I just loved it!!! "get some solo" wow ....."do you dance kcs remix" "Q in doubt" played it over and over again ..... blew an amp :-( bought way too many Japanese prince imports after that.... In the hope of finding more stuff like that..... for a while I thought that was the way to hear the mega-vault till someone set me straight... cost me a fortune...
You are a true Prince fan!
Well said!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Right up there with Venus De Milo ❤

As this man rest in peace this tune is his masterpiece. Good lord what he gave us. This is perfection of a song tune and melody.
This is magical... I am transported into the purple nowhere wonderful... I am floating
this and Power Fantastic are possibly the 2 most beautiful things he ever did and both with Eric Leeds
This is awesome, only says to me this man a absolute honest to God true musician. This is a beautiful piece of music. So calming and peaceful.
Hello Charles. Chelle from Milwaukee,
This beautiful music helped me through my military service in the eighties. Semper Fi!!
Do Or Die!!
WVANG 1985-1989. Prince all through Tech School in Rantoul, Illinois / Chanute AFB. Madhouse 8 came out during my service at home, in Charleston WV at Yeager Airport. I have never felt a more impactful song than this....
Prince you the MAN RIP!!!!!!!!
lovely
the first time I rolled(91), this album was my soundtrack. this shit made me cry.
Roy Batty me same. if you love music this is all u need.
I am still crying today when i hear this. But not because of sadness, but because it is so beautifull. It just touches my heart.
this tune is the bible for music.
Beautiful tear-jerker
One of my favorite songs!! Thank you
His instrumentals are really spectacular. His three greats I think ...GOD love theme, 8, and probably ALEXA DE PARIS, I think, but this is just incredible no doubt
I was actually thinking about God instrumental before I read your comment. This song is my favorite on 8. Alexa de Paris is also another of my favorites.
Agreed. Also check out his instrumentals calles Shades of Umber & Rumeta.
This is amazing! That is all I can say! Prince I miss you!
I remember when this first hit me market. He was way ahead of the curve then. He still is. Gone too soon
This song makes me want to cry 😢
have always loved this cd and this song!! @ 7:12, just love that part. its so Princely.....ghee, i miss my brother : ( thanks for posting.
absolutely my favorite part of the song by far.....if only that part was repeated over and over like a chorus...beautiful song overall.... RIP to your brother as well...
The first time I heard this song was on prom night 1987............
so beautiful 🌄🌅🌠🌌💟💜💚
Very nice music, Thanks
Beautifully Wonderful or excuse me Wonderfully Beautiful -- Absolutely Amazing^^^ The Music of the One^. Talk about music being the Transducer of Spirit--so be it the Evidence is Here^. Thanks for sharing the Gift imparted 2 u 'P'. It is/was an Honor to come through when U did PRN.
It's mindblowing Eric Leeds doesn't think he's a really proficient flute player...
But he really is! Prince saw it even when Eric didn't.
Reminds me of a trance CD I had once........
very cool!
Beautiful. 💜🎶💜🎶💜💞
Beautiful. Can't wait to hear the jazz album he was working on up to his death
Souvenirs de jeunesse sur Nice................. Love U Prince.
This is like when the Hulk turns into Bruce Banner. But we know that this Hulk is purple. Rest easy purple Wonder. You were the baddest being ever on this Madhouse planet.
THANKS & THANKS.
if you open the vault of your mind you will find prosperity of love
💜🐾
This should have been played at his passing 😢

I wish friends of Prince and musicians that worked with him closely were allowed to pick and mix and master and release these songs. I dont know that those at WB and the others are knowledgeable or caring enough to put it out the way or as close to the way Prince would want it done.
Doesn't work that way. Only those who own the rights can get permission to do that.
💜👑💜
This could have segued into U Got the Look on Sign O' the Times... well I would have liked that anyway.
Yeah but this ain't the Sign O The Times album. . .
Yes... I know. However, it was recorded around the same time by the same band Prince was working with at the time. As a matter of fact, one Madhouse track is included on The Sign O' The Times box set, but not this one. I just like the idea of the two tracks segueing in a mix though. That's all.@@cjsvoiceworks6008
Left Lane Muzac
Without the constant deep voice in the background, the song would have been one of princes all time best.
Absolutely, I always feel it is such a shame he used that sample through the whole track. Near the end it gets better. Without it would be his most beautiful piece of music maybe.
The voice adds to it.
@@rodericksharp6121 Prince must have thought so as well...in this case for me it just doesn't work unfortunately. But tastes, tastes...
@@rodericksharp6121 I agree, it's part of its essence! The most ugly sound in music --hunh! hunh-hunh!-- combined with the most beautiful flute playing the world has ever heard. Without it I imagine the song would be too cloying and twee. Like "I Love U in Me" wouldn't work if he'd sung it in a falsetto, this song wouldn't work without Prince's own vocal chords anchoring us to earth.
I'm a huge Prince fan but come on guys... this one sounds like the opening theme of a 1987 family soap.
they need to take out that vocal sample in the reissue. just remove it - it’s in every bar of the melody almost 😳 he just keeps hitting the sample over b over i bet to annoy leeds as a private inside joke 😭i can see him hitting the sample trigger key over n over and leeds getting pissed. 🤣🤣
Madhouse was a project of Eric Leeds and has almost zero involvement with Prince. So Eric said himself in an interview....
Prince is on every instrument .. u herd it wrong he said Prince did this album for him Leeds don’t play drums or synth or guitar lol
