Not really. The Texans recovered a few years after moving on from BOB and later getting Demco Ryans who has been a defensive master in turning around this team & management. Also helps they were able to get some serious assets from the browns. CJ is thriving due to being in a good system. We haven't seen how Young would thrive given a good system. Like Mike said, Jets or Rams would be a good experiment.

The Texans had won 11 games in 3 seasons before Stroud came along. The Texans were one of the worst organizations in football. Is it all on Stroud? No, there are other factors but Stroud has been successful at every stage of his career from high school to college to pros. CJ has everything you would want in a prospect to height, build, arm talent, accuracy and athleticism. That system you talk about works in large part because of everything Stroud brings to the table. There's nothing on the field that CJ can not execute. He was easily the best prospect in his draft. He has all the intangibles plus all the physical tools that someone like Bryce Young lacked. It was crazy that he was passed up for the number 1 pick. The Panthers loss was Houston's gain.

Not only that but look at the team that Bryce Young has. This clearly proves that the organization and the owner is failing Bryce Young 100%. Bryce Young deserves some blame but only like 5% blame at best.

The guy who was hired to save Bryce Young basically needs to bench Bryce Young so he can get some wins and save his job before he has s chance to show what he can do... This is the kind of thinking going on in Carolina
The problem is drafting QB's from Alabama and thinking that translates to the NFL. They sit back behind monster O lines for 3 or 4 seconds and throw to wide open guys from a track team. In the NFL you are never going to have that much time in the pocket and you will have to throw into very tight windows compared to Alabama where you might only play two half decent teams all season.

CJ Stroud has gelled with the Texans & seems to be happy there & his team are ecstatic they got him. Everytime CJ looks at the chaos unfolding under Tepper's misrule, he must breathe a huge sigh of relief to have escaped that fate. I feel so sorry for Bryce Young. I'd love to see him go to a decent team that undoes all the damage the Panthers wrought. I'd love it to be the case that the Panthers are the problem, not him, but I guess time will tell.
Baker Mayfield somehow landed behind another elite offensive line and has elite WR’s.
Baker has ALWAYS had the talent & moxie. People forget he had one of the best rookie seasons behind one of the worst teams - a team coming off an 0-16 record. Baker nearly won the RoY and set the record for rookie TDs. BY is way too soft, too slight, and his arm too weak.
Imagine getting drafted to an already bottom feeder of a team in the Panthers but then still get blame for why they're still ass. They should put this storyline in superstar mode.

Bryce needs players around him and some development. He’s undersized and not a quarterback that can carry a team by himself. However he can be a winner and a serviceable if not franchise qb. But expecting him to carry a team by himself is just not what he’s built to do.
I think what’s best for Bryce and the Carolina Panthers is for Bryce to shake himself off, keep working, and eventually get a job elsewhere. Look Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, they’re already making names for themselves and finding success in the NFL. What would be great is for Bryce to keep grinding and eventually find a starting job on a different offense, and stick it to the owner that has screwed him over by Bryce just doing what he loves. Eventually, something’s gotta give. And if not, I guess Carolina is the new Cleveland (as another commenter mentioned)

Mel Kyper is right in only one respect - the Panthers mishandled the DRAFTING of BY. He should NEVER have gone that high. And they should never have given up so much. Bryce IS NOT an NFL QB. He can't see over the OL & DL. He isn't blessed with an arm like Drew or Baker; mobility like Russell or Kyler. And the game is too fast for his processing, regardless of the S2 test - we all know right that thing is (*cough CJ). And Bryce doesn't have the mentality required of a QB. He's too soft.
Baker is not a comparable lesson, as Baker single handidly saved the Browns and nearly won RoY, just behind Saquon. He also set the rookie QB TD record (which was broken by Herbert the next year).
When will people realize being rich has very little to do with being smart or talented. I get so tired of hearing that people like Tepper should be better at such and such just because they are extremely wealthy. Most NFL owners are borderline psychotic billionaires who think they know better because they manipulated capitalism beyond any reasonable level of personal wealth. David Tepper and the organization suck, but so does Bryce Young. The Oline has been good this season, the receivers have been getting separation and now Bryce Young is the one thing holding the offense back. The organization decimated the defense to give this man help and these are the results he delivers. If he needs All Pros at every position to be successful then I’m not sure he’ll be successful anywhere. The #1 overall pick should be able to produce their own offense. Point guard QB was the worst thing I’ve ever heard about a QB and it’s played out exactly how we should have all expected, poorly. I’ve watched every snap of every game he’s played in Carolina, he doesn’t have the physical tools (arm power, speed, elusiveness) to overcome his height. Hope he can figure it out somewhere, but it was obvious the Panthers should have went with the prototypical QB. I don’t care what anyone says, as a long time fan of the Panthers CJ was the safe pick. I’ve been hoping I’d eat my words by this point, but it’s been nothing but constant disappointment since they took Bryce over CJ. Hindsight is 20/20 but the signs were there prior to the draft and Tepper still made another failure of a decision.

Teams need to have a competent roster in place when their new QB takes the reigns. People wonder why teams like the Chiefs, Chargers, Cowboys, and Packers were able to have consecutive franchise QBs. Not everyone can be CJ Stroud. And Joe Burrow being as accomplished as he is is nothing short of a miracle. QBs who succeed in spite of their O-line are truly exceptions to the rule. But the Bengals need to be careful. Ask Indianapolis how neglecting the Offensive Line ultimately led to Andrew Luck's premature retirement
