Couldn't train due to injury.... shocking how fast muscle can atrophy without stimulation Thankfully regain was possible. My takeaway message is... Building muscle (i.e.. Muscle for functionality not stepping out on stage with) is not really the issue, it's the maintenance of it that can't be neglected. Thank you for uploading and sharing.
Was wondering why they were prescribing lean meat in their studies, since added healthy fat (amongst other functions) assists with digestion of protien; as well as fassilitates absorption of fat-soluble Vitamins ADEK. Protein is not only needed for building and maintaining muscle; it also is necessary to maintain strong bones; is used for producing hormones and enzymes, and can additionally be utilized as a fuel source.
Dr. Douglas, I am 83 years old, though I am an active man who workout in the gym 5 days a week, my diet is LCHF and proteins whey protein, eggs and poultry, B-Complex vitamins. About a month ago, I suddenly found I could not curl up my right hand even without a dumbbell. It is like a stroke for I could not even lift up my drinking cup to my lips. Can you explain what's wrong with my bicep on my right arm, which my stronger arm which I could curl up 10kg dumbbell 5 reps. My left arm which is normally weaker than the right, but it okay normal.
Nerve/blood vessel impingement/entrapment, or nerve damage. Could also be micro stroke as you said. Also check for spinal stenosis which can affect extremities.
He is trying to help older folks who don't want calories , only to maintain muscle or recover. I think he did a great job staying on point and he packed alot of the " right " info that I need !! Sure you can build big muscles with more protein but where does that bulk go when you're older not working out hard ?? That extra bulk will be break down and your kidneys will have to be deal with it , which isn't good ☹️🥴
It was a good lecture by now deceased nutrition scientist Douglas Paddon-Jones, PhD. This article by Donald Layman et al. brought me here: Arentson-Lantz EJ, Layman DK, Leidy HJ, Campbell WW, Phillips SM. After listening to your entire presentation...it all seems logical...however it seems contradictory to most of the plant based doctors.. None of the plant based doctors are funded by major producers of plant producers...I see you were funded by the Beef, Poultry and Dairy industry... hopefully that doesn't skew your advice!
iamadot7 it's just plant based doctors are not in people's homes or have lengthy discussions to find out just how cultural influences alone make it simply impractical to promote a wonderful plant based diet which is good on paper but doesn't translate into the real world. - RD
Both sides are funded don't be so naive. Universities get monies from Big pharm and Big Agriculture ..... the whole damn nutrition system does...open your eyes

I was a classmate of Doug's back in high school in Australia and am very sad to learn of his recent passing.
The good doctor passed away ?
@@chantellucky4565 Yes. From a very rare brain disease (CJD).

Fantastic workguys , 52years of age still building muscle and getting results, living back with dad 90? "if only I could!"
Doctors do this to women after birth, too. I broke out of my maternity ward to go on walks.
Projecting or Protecting?
I read that at least one amino is bad for the kidneys. How can that be helpful?
Una pena su fallecimiento, tan buen investigador. Una enfermedad horrorosa

Plant-based doctors are the priests in the Religion of Vegetarianism. They start from a bias.
Plant-based doctors are funded by fanatical Vegans, which are even worse for society than "the Beef, Poultry and Dairy industry".

Eggs and dairy...Humm, no conflict of interest here. 😂
So this guy is dead....He was part of the meat industry.
He works for the egg board, the beef trade association and the dairy trade association. His opinions are driven by his wallet.
