    Before final mounting the steering column put your seat in that you are going to use. Measure from your belt buckle to the wheel in a couple places (like from the buckle to horn button). Measure from the top of your legs to the wheel in a couple places. Take those measurements to your favorite daily driver and see how they compare. Comfort when driving is everything. I have a similar brake system, my accordion rubber boot rubbed on the left diagonal brace so I cut it and put a bow in it and re welded it. Really nice build thanks for sharing.

    😉👍 All l👀k N Nice! coming along!
    I like the hat, 🤔 you know Paul should sell them like that, lol 😆... as many times as he has hit his head.
    I like, steering wheel is a bit small but it works 👍, column looks nice too, but I'm afraid clear coat might not help protect it enough from rusting , so do your research... If you do decide to paint it I would say not black but whatever color the dash is. Have we ever decided a color??? I like red! 😁
    Break pedal does look like an old starter button, maybe you should put a retro looking floor starter button back in, I do believe they make modern versions that are electrical, It definitely go, and be a bit extra security as nobody knows how to use those anymore lol... Of course I don't know how well it would work for you.
    So I imagine this breaking system to delete in the ABS from the Tahoe, 🤔 How hard would it be to leave the ABS system with new master cylinder... would be nice If not too much extra work. I don't know about how much wiring in all that...
    🤔 Did you ever figure out what you're doing with a gas tank fill? P.S. Recommend checking the evap lines/canister on it, blow while you got it all apart, as they always go bad...
    Something to think about down the road maybe, If you're thinking about car shows and all that... of course it costs extra cash just for looks, but they do make some dress up kits for those LS to make them look more vintage style, Overpriced coil covers and intake swaps and all that.
    Really like this build, You're doing everything right it looks like and unlike others just slapping stuff together and not showing all the issues and difficulties that go along with a project.

      @russellmcconahay7297  Рік тому

      Thank you for your input and thoughts. I haven’t got all the details figured out on the tank and color and all those things but I’m sure it will come together. I do like the idea of painting, the steering column the same as the dash that would kind of blend in and look nice. Thank you for coming along with us on this journey.

    Your moving along at full speed! Love your Ididit column, steering wheel, and brake booster set up! Attention to detail! My E Z Chassis kit (C10/K10 chassis and 1955/1959 cab) , came with a weld-in firewall plate for the brake booster. Its to be used with a inexpensive S10 steering column. I like your Ididit steering column much better! Im not sure if the weld-in firewall support plate would even be necessasry with your Ididit column/brake booster, but it would provide a smooth look on the firewall. Also, If a brushed aluminum look is what your after for the column, I believe a simple coat of clear could be applied, to preserve the look of the column, and would look great! Cant wait for your next video! Keep up the great job!

    FYI that chunk of brass is your proportioning brake valve . it should match your brakes .for instances disc up front and rear or disc up front and drums in rear.,it controls the amount of fluid to the rear or front . Also you will need to bench bleed your master cylinder, youtube has videos to learn about bench bleeding. N proportion valves.God bless yall real good.

    • @russellmcconahay7297
      @russellmcconahay7297  Рік тому

      Yes, thank you for the information. The proportion valve when I ordered the brake booster they ask if I had disk front and rear and you had to specify which type you had before you ordered so I’m sure it is calibrated for front and rear disc brakes. hopefully it’s adjustable if I need more front and less rear or vice versa.

    The 57 is looking good definitely making good progress on it I like the steering wheel👍. That is a proportioning valve but you still might need to run a adjustable one so your front to rear braking is proper. Also make sure the master cylinder will match the size needed for the Tahoe brakes. A lot depends on if your keeping the abs or bypassing it. I've been figuring things out for my 57 only I'm swapping my body onto a short bed square body and putting 1 tons under it with a little lift and 37's. Have you decided on color I liked that link to the napco you sent in a reply back in a few videos back that truck looked sharp.

    • @russellmcconahay7297
      @russellmcconahay7297  Рік тому +1

      When I purchased the kit from performance on mine, they asked the question if I had disc brakes, front and rear, or disc and drum so the valve is set up for disc brakes all the way around. I am not going to be able to use the ABS too much computer requirements with the new computer. I deleted that I will just have to remember how to drive.

    If you want to clear coat your steering column I would use a product called shark hide. I have seen it used on brushed aluminum parts and it looks amazing. And protect against corrosion. Don't know if it will work on steel. But can always call company and find out. Coming together beautifully keep up the great work. One of my favorite year trucks. Not sure what your looking for out of that 5.3L for power but you might want to look into a Brain Tooley racing cam called Truck Norris. Will give it that old school muscle car sound and add about 75 hp and 75 lbs ft. Of torque. It will be a beast. I have 2 of his camshafts in my vehicles.

    Love your videos. I’m currently using a EZ Chassis kit on my 64 C-10. I’m currently working on brakes, just wanted to touch base and see if you’d had any issues pairing this booster with the Tahoe brakes? Does the ABS still work? Thanks!

    • @russellmcconahay7297

      They make a pedal kit that goes on the dash of the 57 and excepts that new booster. I have seen some people use the old booster but it’s all good plumbed and wired for the ABS and stuff.
