He stays in a tight range a lot but uses all his strings . Pretty sure he thumps with all 4 fingers too, which is unusual, especially on this type of music
Charlie Benante is the true unsung metal hero. He does all of these huge clinics and events and has to learn to play a ton of difficult songs! He truly is impressive
I think he was a bit too urgent in his tempo here. He almost gets out ahead of everything a few times. Regardless, yes he definitely should be credited even without the name clout of Butler/Wylde/Taylor.
Agreed bro, The Geez was a jazzy bloke, who also dug the blues out of the dirt as a young Buuminhm lad...... but keep in mind that The Geez also pedaled many a Tony riff on slabs of Sab....Just made the groove chunkier...like double thick oreos my man.. check it out....Iron Man...Sweet Leaf....Hole In The Sky...etc..etc... Long live and love the SABBATH my brotha....
MetalheadYA Oh make no mistake about it, it is essential that the bass double the riff/s at times. A good analogy I like I believe in is "When the guitar is busy, keep the bass simple..when the guitar is laid back, get the bass walking" and that basically describes geezer to a "T" IMO. He knew when to follow and when to embellish.
murilo ninj Yeah man.... Its all gud... counterpoint and complementary play is a cool vibe... create tension, anxiety........Then......BOOm...cum shot...workin it together man.... yeah... dig that.... we are on the same page.... I keep thinkin Fairies are wearin boots bro.... epic vibe... epic band.... FAB SAB!
This is one of Geezers slipperiest parts ever. Taking me forever to nail it playing it like him. Most bassist just throw their own licks in, but his part is such a neat counterpoint to the guitar rhythm.
This is awesome! I would love to see a full Sabs set by these four! Benante on drums - such an overlooked yet brilliant drummer! Love the flowers round the kit, very Bill Ward! Im arnt really a Slipknot or Stone Sour fan, BUT Cory is a kick arse singer.
Geezer seems to be smiling a lot more here than I've ever seen him do on stage. He must have really enjoyed this event. The video somewhere on YT with Metallica playing National Acrobat is another story. He looked bored to tears there. Usually he just looks super focused.
God, i love Geezer Buttler. The man doesn't play the bass,he fucking murders it. To cut trough the shred of Zakk Wylde w a finger technique, thats pure brute strength
Great gig. Very good singer and drummer. Like the guitarplayer aswell, not sure about the bassplayer though. Nahhh, just kidding, you've gotta love Geezer, been a fan since the album Paranoid.
thered be so many slipknot fans out there flipping out to be on the same stage with corey while hed be flipping out that hes on the same stage as Geezer! hehe
Why that? I'd love to be his sixth best guitar player...by the way: Zakk plays with harmonics all the time - that's what we call "original". It's his style. I like it very much.
Geezer Butler said he played the guitar before the bass, but says he was not an impressive guitar player. Will he tell us then, how he became such a good bass player? Maybe that was just his instrument.
Geezer seems to have a 50's re-issue Fender Precision Telecaster bass here but it has totally different headstock. Not a Tele or a Strat style. Anyone know what knock off made the bass he's playing here?
Xcorgi it's called a Lakeland bass he's been playing them for about 15 years. If you go to the EMG Channel he talks about his new signature bass and his Dr strings and um Jeep pickups. funny that I just saw this comment because I just got done watching the video on it.
The camera so rarely focuses on the bassist. I appreciate being able to see his technique.
He stays in a tight range a lot but uses all his strings . Pretty sure he thumps with all 4 fingers too, which is unusual, especially on this type of music
I was going to say the exact same thing
Wow jamming on stage with geezer one of my dreams !
Geezer is such a huge inspiration to me. I love the melodies and the ferocious tone. A legend.
Indeed sir....Indeed...
Ooo Geezer Butler and Zakk Wylde together on stage is beautiful
I love watching his right hand. never seen anyone else play like that
Steve Harris's right hand is a little better.
@@Justs99171lol, in your humble opinion right

Yes i was gonna say his name should be in the title too. He played that near enough how ward played it and it aint easy .
I’d rather see Banante’s name, than Corey Taylor, personally.
Geezer is pretty dang awesome!! Makes those fingers fly!! I really dig the sounds he produces 👍
Best bassist ever Sir geezer butler
Geezer always serves the song. He tells the story within the story with his bass playing
P.S, at this age, Geezer is actually a geezer. LOL! Either way, he's still an incredible bassist.
+Xcorgi He grew into it...haha
Please include the amazing Charlie Benante on drums in your video title, thank you.
He is good indeed, kinda Bill Ward.
I think he was a bit too urgent in his tempo here. He almost gets out ahead of everything a few times. Regardless, yes he definitely should be credited even without the name clout of Butler/Wylde/Taylor.
"Psssst" 👆 😊 what this Gentleman said.
I LOVE playing this on bass. Took me maybe 3 or 4 days to pick it all out. Fun to play!!!
all hail Geezer!
Geezer and Bill were the rhythm section that drove Sabbath. Good to hear Charlie Benante doing a great job of Bill's work.
And Geezer being Geezer!
Geezers such a boss
Lol last I checked, Corey Taylor is good enough to sing a great song with 3 legends while you guys are sitting at your house watching him on UA-cam.
Geezer is so bad ass..kids..THAT is bass playing..not follow the guitar note for note like most idiots that embarrass themselves.

Thank you Geez
One of my favorite Sabbath tracks...fucking awesome! Corey Taylor does a great job on vocals and Geezer and Zakk just tear it up.
corey suck
+Jedan Čovek and u doing what? typing ur lame comment on youtube! Pittty u
More Geezz and Zakk on the monitor please and I'm not seeing enough Zakk Wylde in the comments. "Up the Villa" .
Damn good drumming too Charlie is spot on.
Very easy to rush Sabbath songs

Bass god
the great geezer butler one of my favorites bass players
Geezer is the best,a who's who in rock, metal all want to say they played along side with him!
Geezer seems to be smiling a lot more here than I've ever seen him do on stage. He must have really enjoyed this event. The video somewhere on YT with Metallica playing National Acrobat is another story. He looked bored to tears there. Usually he just looks super focused.
actually Sabbath smiles a lot on stage😄they are just a bunch of delightful chaps playing evil sounding music hahaha
Probably didn't like being with lars 🤣

Amazing video! Thanxs for sharing it!
It's like dad is hangin with the kids.....fuck yeah
Great to see a truly great musician such as Charlie Benante play with some other guys.
Wow, I wasn't expecting Corey to do this so well. He's damn versatile.
Geezer just has a badass stage presence

He is doing it again showing up guitar players
Massive lineup here. Outstanding 🤘🤘
Charlie on the drums... sweet actually recognized him before scrolling down. It's also hard to get used to Corey Taylor's face
the great geezer forever
take a moment to see how fast "Geezer" plays that fuckin bass , bad ass ????.......Erik Vonderlieth
I been a GZR fan evr since I was a itty bitty bass player dammit!!!!

Amazing job
love how Geezer bend his strings as a bass player.2:27 - 3:40
What a fucking supergroup this is! \m/
Gizzer maestro de los maestros 🖤
Geddy & Geezer
#1 & #2
All the rest can fight for 3 and below.
Ok, listen, John Entwistle, Geezer Butler, and Jack Bruce share #1. No one else comes close to either of them.
Forgot to add Charlie to the title.
Talk about a super group.........kickass
In 70s he can out play anyone today! Because they all learned off him! And mostly use a pick while geezers fingers flying on the bass
Is it possible for Zakk to hit a bad note!! What a beast!!!
I guess when you 19 and audition for Ozzy you can't hit a bad note!
he sounded drunk though but still Zakk and Corey are my two favorite singers
Didn't even know I was a fan but Corey Taylor killed it.
Great. Amazing
Man, Corey possess a very thick neck!
+Funk Enstein Wrastlin at a buck 45 soakin wet?....haha
The Master!
Love em all
no reason for harmonics here zakk lol
he can't help it..it's his schtick otherwise he might not get noticed!
That's called style.
zakk is still just sad that he will always be ozzys third best guitar player
Why that? I'd love to be his sixth best guitar player...by the way: Zakk plays with harmonics all the time - that's what we call "original". It's his style. I like it very much.
@@WelschAudio Yea, pinch harmonics overkill. It's fucking annoying. Wylde has not style. He blows.
Thank Edward
YES!
btillant, class
What's a shame is Geezer Butler doesn't get credit for his role in music
damn, they cut out the epic full bass solo.
Who's the frat boy singing?
Hahahhaha
miamigroove hahahaha
miamigroove he's got a great voice. Don't know what a frat boy is either, cats to elaborate?

I guess eventually ... you have to decide it is ok for some one else to sing Ozzy ~
glad the Geez was there to ease it :\
Corey is a great Vocalyst
Zackk. I play harmonics wlyde. Nice line up
🙌🏼
Sentando o dedo
and no one mentions the drummer... thats so typical LOL
it's not Neil
Charlie Benante
Quite a line up. I don't like Corey very much, but he did an awesome job here.
Great
is this particular design of geezers signature Lakland available to buy?
+nelson gibson yes.... $$$$$$$$$$$$
Hey Edward - what did you use to record this - the audio is awesome !
Thanks, It's a small Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10
I wonder if Geezer Butler isn't the father of Bumblefoot... it's like the same person 20 years older
-AND Charlie Benante!....
Is that Toni Iommi or Zakk. Great job Zakk, you're sounding just like Iommi. Zakk, do you like jamming with Geezer or Ozzy better, and why?
maybe just different.

It'a a Lakland (pronounced Lakeland), modelled after mostly a P-bass. Great instruments, wish I could afford one.
