ADHD vs Lazy

Is ADHD a modern issue?
Is it just an excuse to be lazy?
I found a poem published in 1927, written by children's author A.A Milne which someone with ADHD might find familiar.
It's called The Old Sailor and was in his book Now We Are Six.
I think it answers both of those questions.

ADHD is not a disorder but simply a kind of personality trait that doesn't fit into an industrial society where you are supposed to "sit still and do your job". It is however an advantage in a hunter-gatherer environment so simply seek out a lifestyle that is more natural to our human ancestors and you will be fine. So many "disorders" are only labeled disorder because people don't fit into the status quo.
