Evangelion 3.0/3.33 is given so much crap, but it is honestly such a good film, especially in the way it deconstructs the entire series itself in order to set up the grand finale.
A song in this film, Quatre Mains, is absolutely beautiful and by far one of the greatest piano pieces I've heard. So I extended it using the various Quatre Mains soundtracks from the OST.
This includes Kaworu playing alone, the first time he & Shinji play together, and the full version. Making this was tough, but I managed to create something cohesive. I hope you enjoy!

@@smuglefluf6369 He plays cello well so he clearly knows music theory. Learning piano is one of the easiest second instruments to play on a simple level right away since sounds are way easier to generate. Of course that's not on a high level.
I never thought a wordless piano piece could be so, I dunno ... cutely written?? I love this version cause u can feel shinji warming up to the keys at the beginning, with kaworu encouraging him with his higher notes until he gets faster and more ambitious. really beautiful song (:
I personally prefer melody over lyrics in a song most of the time.
Just like Images, a melody is worth a thousand words.
Even as someone who isn’t particularly fond of 3.33, I still think that what I call the Homoerotic Piano Scene is incredibly well directed and fantastically written.
@@thegumonyourshoes Absolutely. The only reason why i don't consider it the best scene in all the movies is because kaworu is in it (and i really don't like him, he's a bad character in my personal opinion), but it would be stupid to not see how good this scene is

It’s not much, but as a musician, seeing a protagonist who is also a musician is something I really like.
This passage is clearly one of my favorites of this film, I played it over and over again so I love this ost !
I rewatched this movie yesterday(on my way to 3.0+ 1.0) . It's even better second time around.
This time is didn't even try to comprehend the plot itself but instead focused on the emotional journey each character was going through. It felt better to watch it from that perspective.

Waaait I just realised (?) that "quatre mains" means "four hands" in french and can be used for piano but it also described the scene when they make a four hands Eva (yes you propably already have guessed but Aaaaah beautiful)

For those interested, there's an alternate unused track called "Quatre Mains (chambre chords)", from my untrained ear, it sounds as if it is played on a violin and a cello.

he plainly waited for both to have a strong relationship, deep enough Shinji desires to return the world to what it was simply for Kaworu only to have the one and only person that loved him in the 3.33 rebuild to have his head blown, of course the impact didnt end thanks to Kaworu but nonetheless. Shinji is just getting a whole mindfuck from all angles, not even family in blood can do him good
They make me cry. Really. I’m using this song for an independent research project about the human experience - the section this is being used on is the tragedy of the experience itself. I hope this presentation goes well!

I’ve only ever heard the rendition of this song used in The Battle Cats. I fell in love with it, it’s one of my favorite piano pieces, and I’ve always described it as super gay. Glad to know I wasn’t wrong lol

This is so random but I had I dream where I had a man and he was sad that we couldn’t have a baby since we were gay.
We broke into a hospital, i lost sight of him , .. and then I saw him with a woman.
I was so jealous seeing them together, but he cried because of seeing so many new born babies. Then I saw my mom as a nurse who carried a baby and asked if she was okay.

The scenes with Kaworu and Shinji were honestly the only genuinely good thing about this movie, sadly.
I strongly disagree. The movies overall have less fillers and more plot and characters are less annoying than the original series. Yes the college trio now has a lot less development which really sucks and the only way we can realize why the whole separation from nerv happened is only understandable via the old series so they own us an explanation in the forth movie but they really improved anything else.

Actually I like how Shinji reacted to Rei 3. In the tv series it was kind of ignored. Here he made it clear he can’t connect to her at all.
@@mordredox6055 the characters aren't less annoying, they are just ultra cheesy in this movie. Shinji and Kowaru were literally the only characters whose personality were preserved, or even entertaining. Misato and Asuka especially feel like someone's fan fiction depiction, and the dialogue was so cliche. It lacked the subtly and nuance of nge and went from award-winning art, to typical fan-service shonen
