Don't mix acrylic with water it causes paint failure and your painting may peel off of your canvas because the plastic polymer molecules will be diluted and not form a stable lattice when dry. Use matte, gloss medium, or a glazing medium. And for light washes use Acrylic airbrush medium....it's important to mix plastic polymer with plastic polymer, not water.
