- In this video I'll show a way you can approach painting folds. I use acrylics, but with oils you can follow along as well.

We'll try to simplify what we see and premix three main colors: one for the darkest values, one for the midtones and one for the lightest parts.
List of materials:
• Canvas, paper or panel
• Brushes, palette, palette knife, water, paper towels.
• Colors used: crimson red, phtalo green, cadmium yellow light, titanium white, ultramarine blue and burnt umber.

Terimkasih kawan, sudah berbagi video yang sangat bagus
You're welcome!🎨👍
I didn't know anyone else called the early portion, THE UGLY STAGE. Love it
😂👍 That's what I thought as well when I first heard of it, it's really great for putting things in perspective everytime.
I remember when I was given a homework task for art class at school. Paint the curtains. So I was busy doing a painting of the curtains. My Dad (old school Dutch) said: 'What are you doing?' I replied: 'Homework.' He said: 'That doesn't look like homework. Go and do the dishes.'
😅😅😅
You make this so easy to understand. ❤
Thanks, that's great!👍
You are a really good teacher. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you for your amazing video!!! 🌹
You’re welcome!👍👍👍
The "ugly" stage! And it's normal to have that. Thank you so much, I needed to hear that!!! Great tutorial!
I'm glad it was helpful! It's one of the most important lessons to learn indeed; sadly enough the ugly stage is the part where most people give up, while it's a very small step from the ugly stage to good looking painting.👍
Very good method with mixing colors before painting. Thank you !
You’re welcome, have fun painting!👍
Very helpful. Great tutorial. I especially liked to premise colors and make sure you have enough.
best tutorial seen so far...Thank you ..im definitely going to give it a try.
That's great, have fun!👍
Wow you are the best!
Very good demonstration! I was just itching to grab that paint brush from you and add some of my strokes. This will be a good one to fool around with to learn shading. You made it look easy.
😂😂😂Thanks so much, and give it a try!👍
He knows how to teach.. that too for free❤
Very good. Thanks the nice teaching❤❤❤❤
You're welcome, enjoy painting!👍👍
Gorgeous work many congratulations on your beautiful talent! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks!
I’m just starting my first painting and the people have red cloaks. This was awesome!
That's great too hear, glad it was helpful!👍👍
I love how you make sure the paints and their values are laid out first. Sometimes I paint the values as I go then screw up the colors of the values when I get low. Great lesson!
Thanks! Premixing might feel a bit strange in the beginning but the benefits are so great that you'll never want to do it any other way. Enjoy painting!🎨👍
Absolutely fantastic 🌹🫶🏽 thank you
My pleasure!👍👍👍

@@toon-nagtegaal muchas gracias.

I really dig your content. Really well done and simplified. Could you do a video (gonna feel stupid you already did) on the dangers of using black to darken colors and how it generally kills the color. My stuff came alive after I learned this color trick. I would just use black and it would just kill the whole piece and wouldn't have a clue why. This video will help a lot of people!
Yes, that's a good one, thank you very much! I'll definitely make a video about that shortly 👍👍🎨
I love the way you explain! I am glad that you are not American and you do not use phrasal verbs ... it is easier to understand. Greetings from Poland! 🇵🇱
Thanks, glad it's helpful and It's funny that you say that! I'm always afraid that my English is a bit too simple lol, but now I see how that can be a benefit! 👍👍
Are those acrylics. How do they not dry out?
Due to a few factors: prime the canvas with extra gesso. Premix most important colors in piles (these piles on your palette don't dry that fast). And: because of the premixing, you have the colors that you need on your palette and you can paint more quickly. If you constantly need to mix base colors while you're painting, the paint on the canvas is drying. Also: only put colors on your palette that you're going to need for the part you want to paint in the session and premix colors for the part that you want to do. Hope these tips help a bit!
