Pencil lead is graphite and the graphite completes the circuit that's usually done by touch or press. It's not as conducive as metal but still electrically conductive.
This video helped extremely and i also figured out that when ever my usb was plugged in it some how blocked the sync button. From working i tried several times after watching this video because i unplugged it while poping the top off and it reverted back as soon as i plugged it back in

@@masterofgames1311 theres a black circle housing for the button ...touch on the board right next to the black under button ...itll take a bit to get right spot but it works on mine everytime ...it gets easier
Bought my Xbox from a random lmfao , opened and looked like it had hella dead skinned mites in it, tore the sync button off and it worked when I touched the metal
For anyone’s that won’t work after and you have an android charger you can take your Xbox batteries out and put the charger in the controller and put your batteries back in and take the charger out and it should be paired like that (controller must be turned on by the charger and stay on when the batteries are in it..... duh)
@@yum8983 Hey i know a way you can connect your controllers without having to take it apart. Connect the usb port on the xbox to your controllers usb port (use a compatible lead like a charger for instance) and then you will feel a vibration on your controller once you feel that your controller is connected and you can take the lead off but i suggest wait a couple of seconds after that. Hope this helps. I used this plenty of times. It 100 percent works. The reason im on this video is because i need to connect my xbox and turtle beach stealth 600's and i dont think i can do that using the usb port method but for controllers it 100 percent works. Any problems ask me.
