Yes we rescued a litter of kittens, we got the Mom spayed and rereleased her, some time after the mom came back both kitten and mom had a great reunion.
A very pregnant cat showed up, and she gave birth to two kittens. Momma Cat lived for over 21 years. For a majority of her life she still groomed her offspring. Her children did remember her, but then again they were never separated.
No they don’t forget. Pne of our cats was severely sick, almost like being in Comma. But woke up listening her mother’s bell around teb neck- this is the sweetest come over - a miracle. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Sometimes mother cats ingnore their kittens for the upcoming litters but if they are spayed - neither kittens or their mommas can be separated. It is a wrong thinking to separate them.
I had two sister cats for 2 years, and one of my cats(athy) ran away for like 2 weeks. When I managed to catch her and bring her home, her sister rejected her and banished her into the living room. It was so heartbreaking because athy was so skinny and would only look out the window. Like a day later she managed to escape again and I never saw her again..
She was probably banished the first time and that’s why she left. Lol Could be that or she no longer saw a point to being there with her sister rejecting her and just left again… which is even sadder. Either way I hope she did ok when she left.
My cats are from the same litter but i got them 2 month apart, the first week they hissed at each other and scratched, now their inseparable and always have to be able to see each other😂
True! There’s ways of introducing cats and this is not it! Putting them in a separate room with the moms litter box, toys, blankets would be the first step,
When my grandparents moved house they met a dog that had the same mum as my dog. Different litters (she was quite a bit younger than him) so had literally never met but they were delighted to be introduced to each other. We thought that maybe they had similar scents. Or they were just dogs going “FREN!!!”
Kittens don’t exactly have many ways of expressing their emotions so fear from nervousness, trepidation or anxiety when recognizing their mother might also bring about the same reaction. Otherwise, it’s possible the mother recalls her kittens far longer than kittens recall their mothers due to a phenomenon known as childhood amnesia - it’s the same for all mammals. So much is happening with brain development, including developing long term memories. There may be a familiarity but, the circumstances have to be met to stir that vague sense of connection. Plus, reacting with caution is wise, when there’s a chance even a parent might attack you. Think about it, you’re older and it’s time to get off their territory - not everyone has empty nest syndrome, some are just like "GO!! Why’d you come home? Just to wreck my house and eat my food and then leave, again??" It’s valid.
My pup smelled and cried to meet his mom after two moths being apart. When he hit 6mo, tho, he completely forgot about her and acted like his mom was a random dog
When I raised kittens we pretty much knew when they were ready for new homes when the mom would start getting pissed at them and tackling them all the time 😂
Its all about smell. If mom and her kittens live in the same space all of them get that unique smell of the place on them. But if you take a kitten out of the nest for more than a week, the place smell is overwritten by smell of new place. Mom is unable to recognize the kitten by its smell and treats it as territory threat. Reason why mom cants groom her kittens so much, she is applying the smell to each of them. Personaly I have a mom cat and two of her kids at my home, she occasionally hisses at her daughter, chases her a bit or does smack one. But most of the time they can sit in close proximity and its ok. Her son walks out a lot, max of his time wandering is 3days. But after returning home, first she does is checking his wierd smell. But since its not week he still has smell of home so she doesnt attack or hiss at him.
??wow that’s disrespectful and where is your empathy? I’m assuming you “give” your cat a lot and expect them to enjoy things and give you praise for giving them bare minimum. Sounds like an abusive parenting style. You don’t even love your cat 100%. You should never fall out of love of your children. Keep researching and educating yourself on how to be a good parent to your cat. This isn’t a normal thing to say. A cat who isn’t “grateful” is probably because you don’t understand your cat. And they are pissed they are in the same room as an idiot.
For me, it’s the opposite. I got my dog when he was a pup and one time one his birthday, I brought him to see his mom and brother. The mom was kinda chubby and the owner set up a picnic for the mom. When my dog tried to go near her she growled and shooed her son away. Like, why, it’s defending your food or spending time with your son. 😂
Don’t take this video as inspiration. There are more proper ways of introducing cats. Cats should feel safe in their own territory (like putting them into a separate room in the house with a closed door), then you can introduce scents (like toys/blankets from mom or switching litter boxes from one room to the other), then maybe you can crack the door open. But expecting same day introduction is wild. Most cats need days/weeks to feel confident and safe.
They do remember eachother, random cats that have never met in this situation would normally be much more aggressive. It's probably just that the kittens are quite a bit older now, so they all view eachother as competitors to an extent.
Thank you for showing us! I love that the mom cat seemed to remember her babies. It would be interesting to see if someone can try an earlier reunion video -like 30 days post adoption.
I honestly hope for my cats sake he doesn't remember his mom.... it was her 5th litter or something and he was the runt. Not only did she reject him, she tried to unalive him multiple times!! I got him earlier than i should've because of that, so I had to bottle feed him. He fully acts like I'm his mama ❤ he is also the only kitten who looked like his mom. I didn't get him from a breeder, his mom was just my mom's friends cat so i knew him from the first day he was born. I couldn't imagine life without him now ❤❤❤
I think it depends on the individual and the situation. My dog recognized his sister/littermate when we accidentally saw each other on a walk. However, they were in public territory, on a relaxing walk, with their owners, even though they were both taken away pretty young. I'm pretty sure if I had sat him down in a strange house with strange people doing strange things followed by new dogs, he'd also react aggressively.
I did this with puppies. The mom had no interest in taking care of the puppies, so they went to a foster home (me). Like a month later they met up again and the puppies love everything and the mom was just like "Ew, what are these things...?"
My dogs remembered their children & siblings after not seeing them for 3 years (the youngest was 2 years old when they separated, the dad was 8 years old when they separated)
I have 5 month old kittens that have never been seperated from mom and the mom is getting fiesty with them sometimes because I believe she wants her space back. Not that she isnt the first kitty currently in our hearts because she has been otherwise such a good cat.
lol, funny comment but no. Gypsy rose mom abused her and forced extreme medication and surgery on a healthy child. Child then orchestrated mother’s death but boyfriend took it to another level. But the cats owners may be more like Gypsy-rose mom since they put all the cats in a high stress environment where the kittens didn’t feel safe in a new territory that isn’t their own.

I didn't get him from a breeder, his mom was just my mom's friends cat so i knew him from the first day he was born. I couldn't imagine life without him now ❤❤❤
It's heart breaking for the mom 💔
It depends on how long they were separated
THEY'RE SO CUTE WAAAAAAA
i love cats 😭😭😭😭😭
Ahh so cute!!! New sub!!
My cats stayed together. I almost had 3 generations, but my cousin has the grandma now
cute cats!!!! ❤❤
The cuteness is unbearable! :)
If she hissed and is basically a teenager now, then yeah she definitely remembered her mom lmao
I did this with puppies. The mom had no interest in taking care of the puppies, so they went to a foster home (me). Like a month later they met up again and the puppies love everything and the mom was just like "Ew, what are these things...?"
My dogs remembered their children & siblings after not seeing them for 3 years (the youngest was 2 years old when they separated, the dad was 8 years old when they separated)
the mom looks so sweet
The mom: YOU CAME OUTTA ME WHAT TF YOU HISSING FOR YOU WANT THESE PAWS? 🐾
I have 5 month old kittens that have never been seperated from mom and the mom is getting fiesty with them sometimes because I believe she wants her space back. Not that she isnt the first kitty currently in our hearts because she has been otherwise such a good cat.
The fragrance of cats change in different environment and hence cats communicate through smell 😊
We adopted puppies a couple weeks apart and when they saw each other again they immediately recognized each other, wish it worked that way for cats!
"GIRL, SHE GAVE BIRTH TO YOU. SHE TOOK CARE OF YOU. HOW DARE YOU."
The mom remembered but the kids not right away sadly 😔
She's doing the Gypsy-Rose speedrun.
lol, funny comment but no.
Why are all the cats so purty and the kittens too stinkin' CYOOOOT!?? ☺️🤗
Ahh I can't
Can we talk about how good a driver Banana is? ❤
My cat still remembers his mom after 1 year
They do actually remember if the smell/odor is still the same, sadly you'd probably showered them a lot which tends to mess up their body odor.
adorable kitties😻
