- The Red Rock Canyon scenic drive is a popular destination that you can see from the Las Vegas Strip. Whether you plan on just sightseeing, hiking, mountain biking or rock climbing, the Red Rock Canyon National Reservation Area affords ample opportunities to experience this quintessential Nevada desert. Come with us on our tour as we show you a brief glimpse of this scenic 13 mile drive, from the Calico Hills to the Wilson Cliffs, or the La Madre Mountains and Turtleneck Peak. Especially if you're looking for things to do outside the Strip.
Death Valley. Malibu. Santa Monica. Channel Islands National Park. We closed out the year with an epic road trip to California in style, checking out some of the best SoCal has to offer - beautiful coastlines and beaches, gorgeous mountains with hiking and mountain biking trails, tiny islands off in the Pacific Ocean, and also the hottest, driest and lowest place in the United States - and hottest in the world. Not only did we sneak in time for some fun on rollercoasters and other amusement park attractions at Santa Monica Pier. Come with us over the next few months as we show you all the awesome places we visited. We hope you enjoy our trailer and stick around for our future videos. Please subscribe and feel free to check out our previous epic road trips as well.

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend. Have you checked out our favorite video we've ever made from Death Valley last week? Did we make a good decision to go to Red Rock instead of Mojave due to our injuries? Let us know below.
love all the history you provide. I've been there a few times, and love this park... in the cooler months.
Thank you! I can't imagine some of the places if we would have visited in the hotter months! Hard pass. We really wanted to explore Mojave, but this was an unexpected great find. Valley of Fire next time!
What an amazing area! The scenery and views are stunning.... Thanks for sharing! 💙Terry and Terri
Thank you! Wasn’t on the original list for this trip, but glad we got to do it!
Can't wait to go back here! Looks like amazing hiking!
next time!
Amazing
It is a really beautiful scenery, and so different to thr one I am used to, so I loved it 👍
Thank you! It was really different for us too. We live in an environment similar to yours.
Beautiful drive. When I had to choose b/w this and valley of fire, I had to pick the later one. I’ll go and explore red rock canyon next time I visit Las Vegas. Great video as usual!
We need to visit the valley of fire next time we come! It looks amazing. We had to make a quick decision as you know well
wow very beautiful vedio thank you ❤️❤️❤️ for sharing New friend here
thank you!
Thank you very much for us to see beautiful place
You’re very welcome. Glad you enjoyed 😁
Beautiful! Heard there is a venue in Red Rocks that artists love to perform in cause it’s stunning!
There are multiple Red Rocks. That one is near Denver. Moody Blues!
Greetings from Seoul. love your videos.... thanks for the share. //
Hello and welcome! Glad you enjoyed :)
Great video, Take Care of that injury,👍🏼🇺🇸
Thank you! We’ve both healed up. The videos from this trip are all from December 🤣🤣🤣
Aw! Thank you! I’m off the crutch now but my foot’s still a little weak. Gotta be careful! -Greyhound
Thank you. I teach science here in LV and I have a few students who have never been here. Sad but true. I told them just drive west on Charleston Blvd and there you are. Do come back AND go visit the Valley of Fire out by Lake Mead and stop by a small quaint town of Overton when you're on your way to the Valley of Fire.
Thank you for this! We were actually thinking of returning in the next year or so for Valley of Fire, to actually hike Red Rock (crossing fingers on no injuries next time), Mount Charleston and to revisit parts of Death Valley. We didn’t know Vegas had so much beautiful stuff besides the Strip haha. I hope your students get out and go. Not everyone has cool places they live nearby and you have to take advantage!
One final comment (I apologize. I'm retired, and have lived here for 20 years, just over 5 miles from the entrance to the Scenic Loop. I've been there literally 1,000 times. I'm passionate). You commented about coming back and visiting Valley of Fire. I went to your channel page and searched, and I didn't find any videos of Valley of Fire. If you haven't been there yet, I encourage you to make the trip. If you loved Red Rock, you will also love Valley of Fire. But not in summer. It's scorching hot there. The most strenuous trails are closed in the summer, and people who ignore the signs get arrested. For good reason. People die there every summer. Two years ago, two hikers who regularly competed in Spartan Hiking events, and who were carrying high capacity water backpacks, died on one of the trails. So, come in the cooler months, and allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy all the natural beauty, the wildlife, and the amazing hikes.
No need to apologize for being enthusiastic about things you like! We are behind on our videos (like 9 months behind haha), but we have since been back and did visit Valley of Fire. We are also going again next month. Best park in the area by far (and there's some stiff competition). The Seven Wonders loop hike was incredible.
Your video mentions the area being popular for road bikes and mountain bikes. For the sake of any viewers, the mountain biking is only on designated mountain biking trails outside of the Scenic Loop area. For example, the Late Night Trailhead area about 12 miles away from the Scenic Loop. However, mountain bikes are forbidden on any and all trails off of the Scenic Drive, and in any wilderness area.
That is good to know, thank you!
I’m planning to go in august to Las Vegas and also want to visit this amazing place, do I have to make a reservation or can I just go the gate and buy my entrance to the park thanks for the amazing video
You know that’s a great question. We just drove there as a kind of last minute thing and we went right through, but after we made this video, we’ve heard there’s a timed reservation system. Just a quick look at the website, seems like it’s from November to May. I’d double check but if you’re going in August, you should be good. A lot of these parks are constantly changing their rules lol.
@@MagellanandGreyhound thanks for your quick reply to me, I will check their website
No problem! Abnormal times call for checking websites ahead more often! 😀
@@MagellanandGreyhound For any current viewers, the reservation system is now in effect from October 1 to May 31. But keep in mind that even though Red Rock is outside town and at a higher elevation, it's still going to be well over 100 degrees F every day in August. Take more water than you think you'll need, and take frequent rest stops when hiking, even though you think you're fine.
@@CrabbyOldLady we went again last year (and will again in a month or so). the reservation system was nice actually. I feel like it controlled the amount of people well
HI.DO THEY HAVE GUIDED TOURS FROM LAS VEGAS STRIPS TO THIS AMAZING PARK?
I’m not sure where they start in Vegas, but yes they have tours. I’ve seen them on Viator
@@MagellanandGreyhound yes i tried to reserve yesterday for the regular tour, with "van and stops"but kids under 9 are not allowed, the second option would be hiking tour but i dont know if my 6 years kid can make it!
@@massinissaaouchiche9257 oh man. Maybe your best option is to explore the hikes by yourselves then. Everything is well marked and it’s still a lot of fun. It can get very busy but there’s parking lots at each trailhead
@@MagellanandGreyhound i will take him with me (: i just seen some videos of kids there, the terrain is not that rough,i am sure is super hot there and dry but 2 hours walk not big deal for little kid if we take some water and snacks and having breaks
@@massinissaaouchiche9257 I think you'll be fine. Snacks and drinks and everyone will be happy :)
So the scenic route allows you to get out???
@@jaybradley100 yes
I will pray for Greyhound injuries to get better soon 🙏🏾
Thank you! This video took place months ago. She is all better now!
You are too nice! Thank you! I’m getting there! 🙏 -Greyhound
there builing houses there so sad GREEDY
Really?
@@MagellanandGreyhound YEP JUST THERE
@@MagellanandGreyhound There are houses being built on the former Bonnie Springs Ranch site several miles down the highway. After Bonnie passed away in her 90s, her greedy sons and daughters sold the property to developers. There is also the small town of Calico Basin, just on the other side of the Red Rock formations you saw at the first stop. The town was there 60 years before Red Rock Canyon became a National Conservation Area. It's now pretty much millionaire homes, but the beautiful landscape and the hiking trails there are BLM land and are well protected. Beyond that, nobody is building any homes immediately abutting the Scenic Loop area.
@@CrabbyOldLady that is relieving. people complain about government, and sometimes rightly so, but we do need to protect these places, and I'm glad the government does that.
