I forgot about the little chime noise. Our first "real" car, with air conditioning and payments, was a 1982 Datsun/Nissan Sentra hatchback. It was five years old when we bought it, and it was one of the first steps into civilian life when I mustered out of the Army. It was the beginnings of living a middle class life. It lasted until the very first day when we moved into our first home three years later. We were counting on that $127 car payment being gone so we could make the mortgage. On to plan "B" when the transmission failed. Now we had a house and a car payment. We made it! It's hard to believe that was 34 years ago! Fond memories of a new life, one with promise and hope, and a little bell reminding me to put on my seat belt!

Sports cars get all of the glory, but these were driven every single day, helping people get to work and build their lives. Very few still exist today and stories like yours make me glad to be able to share my cars like this!
