I created this template as a request from a group of ladies that had to make hundreds to sell at an arts & crafts festival. They were the ones that pointed out that the fold & dart method doesn't always create consistent darts which creates fabric bowls that don't sit flat in the microwave and that might cause spilling. You don't need my template to make cozies but it does make it a lot faster and more consistent!
Even though I love the Martelli products you have made this way more complicated than it needs to be I just bought the creative grids template and it is so easy you are spending so much time marking these little dots and having to trim the darts after you sew them whereas the creative grid template you cut once you sew your darts that’s it you’re done And what’s really helpful is if you have the little turntable that spins
Thanks for your feedback. There are so many ways to make cozies these days! There are a couple of things I hear from customers about my templates all of the time. They love the No Slip Backing for accurate cutting and truly no slipping. They love that you can use the template with the holes to create wider/narrower or longer/shorter darts allowing you to make cozies for different types of plates, bowls, dishes. So they're very versatile. I'm glad you found something that works for you. BTW - Martelli makes a great Round-About turntable that you can find with my link. I try not to show it in all of my videos as I want people to know they don't have to have it to use the No Slip Templates. But it's amazing! winner-designs.myshopify.com/search?q=round+about
Of course! Here's the link to all of the sizes and a bunch of bundles, too: winner-designs.myshopify.com/search?q=microwave+bowl And here's a link to my latest video: ua-cam.com/video/GJ4jYXXlCLU/v-deo.html Don't forget about my Discount Code - Covid 19 - that gives you a 19% discount!
It wouldn't hurt but I don't! If the fabric feels stiff or you think it might be treated with something that could cause a problem in the microwave then it would be worthwhile.
Thanks for your interest! I'm in the Florida Panhandle. My system doesn't know how to do shipping outside of the US but I can get a quote from the Post Office for shipping. You can text or e-mail a list of items you want w/ your complete address & I'll let you know what they charge & the total. I'll give you a 20% discount on your order to help out since shipping to Canada is not the greatest! I have lots of Canadians that have me ship to an address just over the border & they or a friend pick up. Let me know if you have questions - 850-449-0259 or mouserme@yahoo.com. Thx!
Hi Peggy - thanks for your interest! I've got 8 sizes & 2 styles (curved, straight) but the 10.5" curved is the most popular. winner-designs.myshopify.com/products/microwave-bowl-10-5-new-design?_pos=1&_sid=8615f47d7&_ss=r It's on sale for $28.99. If you buy, be sure to use my Discount Code "Covid 19" for 19% off!
I don't sell them but my customers that sell them tell me they price them around $9-$10. It's based on fabric choice and how professional they look. Check Etsy for styles & fabrics that are similar to yours to see what is selling. Good luck!
I have 8 different sizes but the 10.5" is the best for your standard bowl. Thanks for your interest! You can find them here. winner-designs.myshopify.com/search?q=microwave+bowl
It's Martelli's Ergo Cutter - my favorite cutter & the only one I will ever touch!! It comes in right handed or left handed & is available for $24.99 for the 45mm, $29.99 for the 60mm & $23.99 for the new 28mm! I'll be adding them to my website soon..... www.winnerdesigns.com. Thanks for asking!
I'm guessing you're referring to the thread since you mentioned mercerized.... I use a variety of threads that I've bought from favorite vendors at trade shows but you can purchase Gutermann from Joann Fabrics.
Hi Stephanie - sorry for the delay! Computer problems..... Thanks for asking! You can get my templates at www.winnerdesigns.com. I have many of them on sale currently. I've also got a free Webinar coming up on May 23 & will be offering a nice new bundle for sale. Details will be available in the next few weeks on my website. Plus, you can fid me on Facebook by searching for Winner Designs for Sewing & Quilting. I do a Giveaway every month or so & will starting a new one next week!
Hi Margaret - I don't have a video showing the protectors & probably won't be filming one anytime soon. We are back to on the road full time again so not much time to do more than re-pack & manage the business side of things. You're actually the 1st person to ask about these! As for making them, it really depends on the steepness of the sides of your pots. Plates protectors are pretty similar to how I do plate cozies in the video, Wish I had time to film full-time!
I love making them but people what me to make them and they want to pay me. How much is a decent price to charge for one? $5 each seems too low for the price of the fabric and your time... etc.. but people do not want to pay more than that.
Right; Linda. From what I understand, the material that they use to hold everything in place while they 'needle' it is not 100% cotton & could catch fire. They often call it scrim. I haven't seen the process but I imagine it's similar to a layer of tulle on the top & bottom with very fluffy cotton in between. For most any other use, this would be fine & even preferable but in the microwave that little bit of scrim could do some major damage~
Apolgies again..... just trying to cram in as much as I can! UA-cam limited how much time I had per video to post so I trying to cover as much info as possible!
Hi Christine - in my latest videos you'll see me with a tape measure measuring from one side down into the bowl over to the other side and up to the lip of that side. Whatever that measurement is, add 2". Find the Cozy Template that is closest to that measurement & that's the one that will work the best.
I'm so sorry! I filmed a video awhile back that went viral & since then I have gotten up to 10,000 emails a day. Many are spam or requests for donations. They clog up my system so that real e-mails can't come through. I've mentioned on Facebook & many videos for people to text me if they have a question. I hope you will do so. You can find my number in many of my videos or below in my info. Or you can post your question here & I will respond. Again, my apologies!
@@tanyacorey8641 You can email (mouserme@yahoo.com) or text me (850-449-0259) what you'd like with your full address & phone # (all the things the PO needs to get me a quote). I go to the post office with those items ready to ship & they give me a price. I share that with you & you give me a yay or nay! If yes, then I'll place your order manually & get it shipped. Typically, it costs about the same to ship 2 items as it does one~
YOU ARE THE BEST AT EXPLAINING THE DETAILS TO CONSIDER TO BE ACCURATE AND SAFE!! THANKS!! :)
Thanks sew much!
I’ve never had anything spill out from the microwave spinning, the food doesn’t spin inside the bowl! I always use the fold and dart method.
