    When in Boulder, don't forget to visit AYRE ACOUSTICS, PS AUDIO and AVALON ACOUSTICS. Then a quick 15 minute drive to YG ACOUSTICS in Arvada. What a MECCA of high-end Audio. Thanks for another great video Jay, and remember to breathe.

    Although Im not fully buying into the highest end of Hifi in terms of subjective difference, I really appreciate the time and effort youre putting into nerding out to the fullest when it comes to that. Keep it up Jay.

    Brilliant interview with Jeff Nelson! I'm an electronic engineering graduate and I found his answers about amplifier topology and design very interesting. I don't think I've heard anyone explain it in quite the same way 👍
    Thank you, and keep the good work @Jay

    You own reference quality components from these brands and reinforce that knowledge and experience with factory tours. This is a huge value-adding and winning situation for viewers and yourself. I want to push that "like button" several dozen times, and thanks for another great presentation.

    Man, it would be real nice to be one of these greedy bank CFOs getting bonuses of 10 million a year. Or he'll, even winning the lottery and having 100 million in the bank. Throwing down 2-3 million in a house. Investing 20 million and with the other 75 plus just sitting down and saying alright I'm gonna do this slowly. Just get one ultra high end item at a time. Review it, get used to it, and not have to worry about it. Just doing something like that sounds like a dream man.

    Could the amp be a DarTZeel NHB 108- Model 2? It would match perfectly with his DarTZeel NHB- 18NS Preamp.

      I realize the comment is tongue in cheek but don’t expect to ever see a Class A/B or D amp from Boulder. Their circuit topology is very conservative and features auto biasing, much like D’Agostino introduced at Krell and has continued under now his own brand. While not as efficient as Class D, it largely operates like a Class A/B but only outputs in Class A it’s not Class A in traditional sense running at full amperage even at idle so it’s efficient enough at high outputs to not serve as a room furnace and requiring dedicated load circuits.
      Modern Class D amps can be exceptional if done correctly. The AGD Gran Vivace I’d take over ANY Boulder amp in their history, yet it operates in class D. It of course uses a unique gain device in lieu of a MOSFET or JFET. It’s remarkable musicality is a product of its superior engineering as well as its topology but of course required engineers to develop the GaN tube for audiophile usage. Very few audiophile companies have the engineering talent and resources to develop gain devices like AGD. If you want to hear what is possible with Class D SS, try to demo the Gran Vivace 👍.
      I’ll still choose vacuum tube amps every day of week and twice on Sunday, especially SET DHT but the AGD makes a hell of a case for Class D solid state.

      @@davidcross890I’m not promoting a single item. I am only sharing my personal experience and my tastes for musical presentation. If you care primarily about distortion and analytical data, digital media is definitely your favor and this guy’s favored equipment is ideal choice for you. Enjoy.

      I have my own ULTRA LOW DISTORTIONS REAL ultra high end AND world class beating 590lb each Mono Amplifiers that quite frankly make a clear and concise complete mockery of what many consider to be amongst the best amplifiers in the world at ANY price. I had to make them myself. I am disgusted with the cheap by comparison junk that hucksters portray as world class ultra high end. Most that push this stuff are low knowledge people hustling to crank a buck at the expense of a poorly educated gullible class of individuals who have some disposable income. I would be embarrassed if any of my companies ever considered turning out the substandard jeweled up junk pedaled by so many today as I have a moral compass, honor, and standards of excellence most cannot fathom today. Too many degenerate hucksters in this industry period.

  • @juanbaclavab
    @juanbaclavab 11 місяців тому

    So that's why those heavy expensive amps weight so much! Almost all their weight is on their chassis and case with unnecessarily thick chunks of metal to make it look that expensive and large. For that price I would expect to see a fully hardened steel construction and not cheap flimsy aluminum
