- Andy Stone played by Mackenzie Crook yearns to own his own home with his girlfriend. He has learned all he knows about house auctions from reality TV and UA-cam. Now comes his opportunity as they head to the auction house.
Simply put, this is as great a summary of British humour as has ever been committed to film. Sublime and with great visual gags (action on the phone lines) here is just a short clip of everything great about the TV series that ran for just three series.
Rachael Sterling didn't get enough credit for her performance in this series - I thought she was brilliant. Very touching at the end.
True! I think there was supreme acting by Toby Jones and Rachael Stirling throughout the series.

It's not difficult to see her mum in her. And it was great to see them act together. Diana was glorious as Emma Peel, and is a lasting memory of mine from the 1960s. I didn't love her, I fanaticised about her :-)
Lost count of the times we've watched this beautiful series ... it has an amazingly calming effect. Thank you so much for this video.
Same here this series is exactly what TV should be, a delightful escape from the real world into a world that just could be. Its on my desert island download list for sure
Great series the theme is very somber but peaceful
It's genius from start to finish.
My condolences Rachael Stirling to you and your family on the passing of your beloved Mother Dame Diana Rigg
Knowing how badly Andy wants the cottage, the scene leaves you wanting to laugh at his terror and cry at his good fortune.
Andy's face when Becky keeps holding up the sign. Bless him! This show has some of the best acting out there.
The auctioneer is played by the genius Kevin Eldon, he always gives a brilliant performance.
Indeed he does !..
Love how nobody moves a muscle but the auctioneer is taking the bids
My girlfriend and I are basically living versions of Andy and Becky. I'm basically Andy, and my girlfriend is basically Becky. My girlfriend and I are going to dress up as Andy and Becky for Halloween this year!
Seen it twice, The whole series. No prizes! Im going to watch it again.More than one more time. Love every episode.
Took me two nights I love it
"They'l send people round, they'l take Stan" priceless
The best ending to series 3, so heartwarming and simple, brings a tear to my eyes. The auction scene is so funny!!!
Never get tired of watching this series
We'll go to prison......you'll go to prison🤣😂
I was the phone bidder - thought I had it at £50K. Damn!
Like everything else about this show, you feel for these people. They're us.
Try saying that about most of the shit on TV today.
"Can't feel my legs".. how many times have we all experienced that emotion!
Absolutely brilliant this series was, stunning scenery amazing cast and superbly directed by mackenzie crook!! So simple but so bloody good, desperate for a 4th series 😊

We'll go to prison
Andy
You'll go to prison
Rachael looks and sounds so much like her Mum, Diana Rigg.. 😊
Detectorists is like metal detecting....the more you dig (repeat view) the more treasure you unearth
Their lives are the real treasure ❤️
I watched this twice on cable and I'm crying like a baby seeing this scene again. I love this show, these people, fictional though they may be.
Dear producer, director and actor, please shoot a sequel to this fantastically beautiful and funny series "Detectorists"! It is the best series on television that I have ever seen, even if it was only shown on Arte with translated subtitles for German television and can be seen in the media library there until October. Perhaps it would also be dubbed linguistically by a German, I think it would be able to achieve a good success with us in Germany. Although I love the original English language version very much, because the voices and the actors are just wonderful. In all honesty, "Detectorists" is really great, please please shoot more of it, the audience will thank you! Especially now in the gloomy Corana times ,detectorits is simply a bright light in the television sky, and probably brings many people to start with this wonderful hobby. I've been looking for my detector myself since 2012, it helps me to understand nature better every day and has helped me a lot in coping with the grief of my wife who passed away too early. Please let this series live again, people will thank you.
Such a heartwarming scene. Brilliant!
This is a masterpiece scene. Kevin Eldon is the unsung genius of comic acting. Just brilliant here.
I’m totally in love with Rachel Stirling
We'll go to prison....You'll go to prison...........
Can't believe I missed that. What a gem.
The way the bidding progresses with Andy initially trying to jump and grab the card to the last bids where he looks as she holds it up again then the last bid he doesn't even look is pure brilliant. Acting, scripting, everything. It's so good, pretty much like the entire show. I wouldn't say the show was underrated, it's more a case it just hasn't had the prime time slot and advertising it deserves. It's easily as good as yer Dr Fosters or happy valley.
I'm just off to buy a house. Need anything?
This was one of the happiest scenes in the whole series. So glad this worked out for Andy and Becky.
They definitely were due 🙂
the auction scene is one of my favorites and of course his comment on winning that he can't feel his legs -- always makes me laugh -- brilliant writing !!
Agreed whole heartedly
Just the best gentlest funniest comedy ever
Beautiful program - funny, poignant, warming... everything!!!
2:05 - The Actor Kevin Eldon. Respect.
One of so many brilliant scenes from TV comedy drama at its brilliant best. Whatever its flaws, only the Beeb could make something as wonderful as Detectorists.
pure perfection of a scene
Wow. Just wow. Can this series get any better?
Rachael Stirling is the perfect casting for Andy's wife and this delightful series. In fact all the characters were cast perfectly .
Absolutely British TV at it's best !!
As portrayed in the series, any man would be mad NOT to fall in love with the girlfriend/wife.
I adore Becks.
Interesting... She obviously loved him - but sometimes I felt she demanded honesty from him but was quite happy to hide things from him when it suited?
@@LaPtiteAnglaise Yeah, I didn't always like how she treated him, but she's a great character.
This is why we love Detectorists!
My favourite scene in the whole show. Also 100% this would be me and my other half at an auction 😂
Is it somewhat suggested that Lance was the phone bidder? He won the lottery, he hears Andy talking about needing money and Andy asks him jokingly to give him some. Lance is a kind-hearted fellow and well within his remit to do something like this. I'd like to think he tried.
I love this theory. It fits so well and would be hilarious.
So we’ll acted , you just believe they’re in love
They will send people round, they will take Stan, we will go to prison-you will go to prison🤣🤣🤣
This was just comedy genius at its best.
"Don't find anything." 😅
Kevin Eldon as the auctioneer is hilarious.
One word....SUPERB
Wow, what's the auction version of poker face?
Glemham Hall. They have an Art Exhibition sometimes when you can visit. And Folk East uses the grounds.
Just nipping off to buy a house, need anything?
Do I detect a hint of Gareth in the car scene?
Brilliant show
We need series 3?
That was Series 3 😁
