Number 9: Improve your vocabulary. No mention of the most important way of learning vocabulary in context - reading for pleasure! I tell my students in Japan to read, read, read. Meeting a word or phrase for the first time in context in reading material which you have chosen yourself, be it a hobby magazine, a novel, a newspaper, even a recipe, whatever, means that you may not even have to look up the word to understand it and you will remember it far better than if it was simply one of a list of unrelated words in a list. It may crop up many times in the same reading material and then the job is done. The reinforcement has been achieved at the same time. Of course, strategies for getting round a lack of vocabulary while communicating are equally important, but these strategies are less useful when someone else is speaking. If it is vocabulary you are wanting, then everybody read!!

Yes, I found this video very helpful, Thank you. However I have been in the USA for twenty one years now, and I can't find myself speaking English as the Americans, I'm guessing the reason for that is because all of my friends are from the same country as me, and we don't speak english when we do get together and/or maybe the city that I'm in most people do not speak proper english (I really want to master the english language) Huuhh... the one thing that you mentioned in your video I know I've been doing for a long time now is watching TV with the english subtitles on. I should've learned all this before I started college at Cal state San bernardino. I am struggling to write cause my vocabulary usage sucks. my grammar sucks. arggg. I need to get better. imma practice this each day till I improve dam it. need to stop being lazy and just listen.

I should've learned all this before I started college at Cal state San bernardino. I am struggling to write cause my vocabulary usage sucks. my grammar sucks. arggg. I need to get better. imma practice this each day till I improve dam it. need to stop being lazy and just listen.

You can only imagine how my inglish is when all of it is somehow with no effort learned off youtube.. I somehow dont even have an accent.. The thing is.. I'm better than our english teacher.. Though I can't really say "video" and some hard and rare words are unknown.. also, I may also have some mistakes in my writing since it wass all learned by listening and guessing how he word should be..
