Man. I’m probably the only person here who is younger than 20 who enjoys shaving like this. I used to shave with the Gillette fusion 5 blade cartridge razor but I would always get the most awful razor burn and bumps around the bottom of my neck. Pretty embarrassing while I was in high school. Started shaving with a DE my last semester of high school and also decided that a goatee is pretty easy to maintain with a DE. Will never go back to normal shaving ever again. Love the videos Ken. Always watch them while I shave.
Found your comment here a little late but I am or was in the same position. Fusion 5 was good for me but killed my neck, now since I changed to a DE months ago literally no iritation 90% of the time or a little 10% of the time when shaving with TOBS. Proraso red or MWF are the best for my skin. Glad to have a fellow 20 year old to continue the tradition.
So I Scored all three Proraso's at a Marshall's this weekend....($12 for all 3.....5.2oz) I used the Green first very soothing on the face.... Just used the red ...very nice as well ....used a 1959 Fatboy with a Gillette platinum..(2nd use)..... Still very new at this, but I enjoyed it very much... These videos are very good.... I focus a lot on your technique ...... The background 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.... Also enjoying your wrist watch and pinball vids ......
Glad you liked it Ken. I tried it over 10 yrs ago on vacation & have been hooked since. Super super slick nailed it! I recently got into DE & have tried a hand full of soaps with a brush & I’ve gone back to the king of shaves gel. It’s superior! I like that’s it’s clear as I often have a groomed beard or goatee & it’s so much easier to get nice clean lines with the clear gel. I enjoy your channel & videos.
@Kensurfs another great breakdown and review of product. The Feather Blade was my 6th Blade. I gradually built up to it, and my first time ever wasn't good, but I learned from it, and it improved my patience and technique.
King of Shaves : Oil surprisingly great as a pre-shave for an electric shave. The gel is fantastic when applied straight to the face, and if using a cartridge razor...and no BURN!👍
Those Van Yulay bowls, if a soap can lather up, it'll help you whip up an explosion of white creamy yogurt. I use the 5" Purple ones myself. 😁 And I too prefer to use a brush even with "brush-less" gels but what I do is to give the brush a hard shake to get rid of most of the water, then work the gel in the Van Yulay bowl and add a few drops of water at a time till you get that thick foam from the brush bristles and the bowl agitating the gel.
Feather blades are one of, if not my favorite blade! Top 3 for sure. I put off using Feather because of all the warnings from reviewers. On first use I was hooked! I get 7 plus, 3 pass shaves from a Feather. Always smooth, always sharp, always BBS. It's a blade that's never given me any irritation of any kind. I wonder how many others have hesitated using the blade due to all the scary warnings? Great blade! Good shave, Ken👍 Always nice to see something different💈
Feather is the only blade that gives me a smooth shave on my neck. My only blade. I bought a sampler pack when I first began using a DE razor. If a Feather blade had not been included, I may have not continued.
Brush and soap for me, don't use the brushless products. Glad you used this product, nice to see reviews on this stuff. Glad it worked for you. I just stay with what works for me. Keep the razor sharp and the face will love you. Nice shave Ken💈💈 Enjoy!
Edwin Jagger and feather blade the perfect pair I think it was better 1st pass using brush at least you can see where you are shaving Especially for me when I don’t have a structured shave We have the razor in Australia but it is cartridge and has an unusual design
Yeah, that's right. Feather blades are a bit harsh, which is why one has to be careful with that brand of blade. I'm going to be using soon Personna blades which I've heard a lot of good things about. Let you know later, Ken. 💈☺️
Ken, what a surprise to see this video - we're delighted you enjoyed your 'King' of shaves, we saw your post on Insta, but really pleased you were recommended to try us. We'd love to send you some KoS products as a giveaway - if you visit kingofshaves.com please contact us, and reference 'Will King' (our founder) so he can get some shave swag to you. We do have a collaboration with Edwin Jagger for our new Code Zero x EJ 316 razor, not sure yet when these are available, but be great for you to check out. Many thanks! All at King of Shaves!
When I first started out I had several different sample packs to test and I saved the Feather blades until last because reviews scared me about them. Treat them with respect and you are nicely rewarded and get great shaves.
Great shave Ken. It looks like the shave gel performed better with the brush than it did without. The only thing I use a Feather DE blade in now is the Twig sculptor that came with my leaf and I recommend running the edges of the feather blade through a wine bottle cork twice. It's not as harsh and passes the hanging hair test.
Great video, Ken! Here’s a tip: the next time you use a shaving gel, you can soak the brush, by try to take most of the water out. Not all of it, but most. You’ll still get a nice foam. That’s how I do it when I use shaving gel.
Hello Ken, very similar results to what PaulH had with his Shave Butter, a couple of weeks ago. I will say it again, I think this stuff the gels, butters etc will be much better served as a Pre-Shave, with Shaving Soap going on top. For no other reason then, one can see what ones doing whilst shaving and it will/should be vastly superior then ordinary Pre-Shave gels, oils or creams. All the best
Nice shave.....last time you had a bunch of cuts w same razor/blade combination in the neck. King of shaves sounds like all artificial / petroleum derivatives....slick doesn't always mean good ingredients.... Glad you took the brush to it..... I have done that w Nivea gel= lathers great. Cheers wonderful video
Thanks for reviewing kos so quickly. It's so much better than all other brands imo. But dammit Ken, watching your vids persuaded me to buy a Q shave adjustable and a braveheart. Tried them both and was impressed. Just a matter of adjusting my technique to get the best of them.
Great shave. Blades work differently for everyone so the Feather blades may or may not work for everyone. They can only see how they work by actually trying the blades out. Congrats at 13k subs
Thanks Ken. I really enjoy Tiger liquid shave cream which is supposed to be brushless but i feel like i have missed out if I don’t use a brush. Thankfully the Tiger performs just as well with a brush. Definitely worth a try if you have not tried it before. I don’t think KOS has aDE razor in the uk but they do have cartridges.
King of Shaves is some reallt good stuff. I have used bothe the cooling gel and cooling shave oil. I never have irritation or nicks using their products. I guess you could use a brush, but I wouldn't. I feel that it incorporates too much air and water removes some of it's properties.
Hi Ken. Great video, thanks for posting. King of Shaves is brilliant. I've sensitive skin and it took me years to find the perfect product for me and KOS is it. Keep up the great work. 👏
Nice shave Ken and no bother with the Feather blade either. You did though allude to that less than enjoyable experience you had with the BIC chrome platinum not so long back, my, that really left its mark with you! Guess you won't be giving the BIC a second chance any time soon or at least within the next 3 or 4 centuries😱!!

Hey Ken! If you are interested in using a new blade, the Derby USTA blade has been getting some good reviews. Apparently Derby improved their sharpening process recently.
Good looking shave ! I have some EDGE 2n1 brushless cream withering away in the shave den I might have to break that out in one of my next videos on my Channel
Congrats on 13k subscribers Ken! Great shave. I haven't used King of Shaves for a while, I may have to dig some of mine out to give them another chance. I used to subscribe to them a few years ago here in the UK. Keep up the good work!

Hey Ken, Thumbs up on another Great video & Congrats on the 13k subs good deal,,,, I like that shave bowl and i checked out there web site they have a lot of nice soaps to choose from.... Ken also i know how you feel with going to the dermatologist,,, I my self went this past Monday and had a mole removed from my left cheek that has always been a problem while shaving, so after nicking it over this past Thursday for the last time, I decided once and for all to have it removed was able to get in Mon and had it removed so I'm looking forwards to it healing up & shaving with out the fear of nicking it any more !! ,,,,, so I feel your pain trying to be careful while shaving that area,,, go slow and easy with the feathers !! I live in Florida so I know how the sun can do damage like it does being in the California sun, with that said a lot of people don't realize (especially the younger crowd but it does catch up in time),,, the damage the sun does to the skin so bad stuff ,,, and I had a few spot also taken care of with the freeze gun...!
Hey Ken! Really odd question for you, not sure if you have answered this. Great shave, Ken. As always, of course! Any plans on trying and reviewing Gillette's Pure shave cream tube and Nivea's Deep Comforting aftershave soon?
A little off topic but I've been wet shaving for several years now but I've only ever used van der Hagen blades and now that I upgraded to a better handle the vikings blade crusader I'm looking to start trying out blader blades and was hoping for a couple suggestions. I have very coarse beard hear so I've been leaning towards trying feather but from what ive heard I dont know if they are right for me or not.
I recently got into shaving with a de safety razor. I bought the pharmacy grade everything. I’m getting more comfortable with it now and getting good shaves but I feel like I could still get an even better shave with a little higher quality stuff. What’s a solid razor in the $30-$40 range. Don’t want to step into anything too extravagant quite yet. What type of razors/blades would you suggest. I don’t want anything too aggressive as I still don’t totally trust myself. 😂. Any other suggestions on a decent brush or soap would be appreciated. Remember, I don’t have your addiction to customized brushes and expensive soaps... yet. So something economical. I enjoy your channel and am a recent subscriber. Thanks, Justin
Great shave hey sally beauty supplies has wet shave products like derby safety razor for 15.00 bucks and brushes for 7.00 you could do a video and call it a common man shave video and play some John conley in the background lol
When learning how to wet shave at 12 years (yes, 12 yrs old but hey, I had a thick mustache since I'm Sicilian and got made fun of for it) my dad told me that "the burn let's you know that "you're a man now." Lol Then, he told me "to go find a job!"
You're obsessed with lather. LOL Absolutely unnecessary. As you noted, the one disadvantage (not major) of no lather is that you don't see where you've shaved and have not. BTW, I discovered shave gel years ago in, of all places, the Dollar Tree store, where everything is just one dollar. It was made in China, probably copying something like King of Shaves, and worked just fine without foam. Then, it disappeared from the shelves and I went back to the canned foam (Barbasol). However, I'm giving King of Shaves a try.
Lots of shave gels in the Dollar Trees in my area. I especially like the DT aftershave gel. Have a look at their website. You can order a box to your nearest store and then return the items you don't want to keep for store credit, maybe refund???? Power Stick shave gel and after shave gel comes in boxes of 20 each. Have a look.

I’ve used KOS products before. Don’t try to whip the gel up into a lather. Just apply it directly onto the skin and you’ll get a much better shave.

Tatsuhiro Satou just go slow and easy and you will master them👍👍
I recently got into shaving with a de safety razor.
