They taste amazing lightly fried in butter and salt and pepper, I found about four of them the other day. Seemed such a small amount I wasn’t going to bother eating them, but it was worth it.
I found 3 of what seems like 3 rather young ones, i was thinking about trying a piece at first, but did not because it didnt really have spikes on the top, but it was completely white inside. It could have been younger stage of Scleroderma areolatum, even though this mushroom when young is supposed to stain slightly pinkish red when young, you never know. not quite sure what it could be.
Found a bunch of these yesterday and they’re like marshmallows inside. I’m new to all this but I feel confident to eat them now.
So long as they are clear white you can’t go wrong!

Scleroderma areolatum wouldn’t be clear white inside. A general rule for puffballs is clear white is safe.
